I love hotels like this just as I loved waking up each morning to the other guests eating brekfast on the terrace. Beds are typical of non-high end ones in Mexico, which is to say not of the greatest comfort, but I could deal. Internet was also spotty, but I could deal with that too. So affordable and I would never want to stay in any other area in Merida. This is where the action is if you are a tourist.

Perfect for anyone needing to fly into or out of the airport at Merida. Clean, friendly and perfect location. English spoken at desk. Once your past the desk your in a different world. Quiet, peaceful and clean. If you eat at the resturant,Walker order off the menu. Better than the buffet.

The Marionetas is a small and cozy hotel located approx 6 blocks from the center of downtown. Overall we enjoyed our stay in the hotel - the place feels homey, rooms are clean and nicely decorated, there's a small pool+garden in the middle and next to it a patio with a few tables (used for breakfast). Here are some more impressions: - Our first room (one of the king size bed rooms) had a leaking toilet which was also very weak (a common problem in Merida and they even ask you not to throw paper...). In addition the king size rooms are right next to the entrance and their windows are so high that they are unusable, so after 2 nights we moved to a 2-bed room and it was much better. - The included breakfast was not bad - some buns+jam, yogurt, fruits and orange juice. Overall good quality and the waiter Jesus was really nice too. - The hotel location could be better, but still not a deal breaker. It's a 15 minute walk from the center. - Each room has a hammock which was a very nice addition. If they added a couple of these in the garden it would be perfect. - The Wifi signal could really use a boost... The signal can vary from room to room, but from our experience you'll have to sit in the patio to get a decent signal. - TVs are really small so I'd definitely do some upgrade there as well. Overall - a clean hotel, friendly staff and good value for the money. If you just avoid the rooms with the king size bed - you can't go wrong.

My third time at the hotel, they have made some minor improvements and continue to. As an old hacienda there are many little cosmetic things to stay on top of. A remodel of the bar would be appreciated but overall very friendly staff and good food. Will return in a couple months!

Fantastic little hotel in a historic old building right next to the Cathedral and main plaza. Surrounded by restaurant, bars and shops in the historic district. If what you are looking for is to experience Merida's traditional downtown stay without the mayor international hotel chains, this is the place to stay. Everything is walking distance, magnificent view of the Cathedral towers from the patio bar. Very friendly staff and breakfast is delicious. The only thing that i could think of on the down side was that the shower had some funky smell coming out of the drain. But being a 200 year old building i guess its part of it.

Jan, the friendly Belgian man who runs the hotel/hostel, did an excellent job. His wife was away for the week and Jan worked double-time to get everything... done and keep the place in great shape. When the air-conditioning went out, he hired someone on a Sunday morning to re-wire the electrical circuits at a great cost to himself. Jan provided us with lots of information (both written and word of mouth) on where we should go in Merida and how to get there. The hotel/hostel is frequented by European backpackers, as well as a few couples, looking for a room that is both well-kept and affordable. The rooms are small, but clean, and the hotel environment is friendly. Jan served breakfast every morning that was both delicious and filling. The hosts were very friendly, accomodating and willing to assist with anything needed including touristics. The room was comfortable, clean, safe and everything we needed for an inexpensive night's stay in Merida. Il posto era molto pulito e i proprietari molto cortesi. Stanze piccoline ma comunque comode,colazione buona. Peccato per la zona che pur essendo.vicina al centro non e'molto bella....a piedi la sera non e'molto consigliabile per la tipologia di gente che c'è. Nel complesso un buon posto dove stare per soggiorni brevi.

二泊利用しました。立地がバスターミナルには近いのですが、セントロからはかなり離れているので、メリダのセントロを散策したい場合、宿にすぐに戻ることが出来ずやや不便です。建物はこじんまりとしていますが、小奇麗にしていると思います。建物自体は古い作りなのか、シャワールームのドアが壊れていたり、シャワーの水量が安定していないことが多かったです。プランに付いていた朝食は美味しかったです。最終日は早朝出発で同宿の方たちも同様だったので朝食を早めてもらえないか聞いてみましたが、それはあっさり断られてしまいました。（こちらが無理をいっているのですが。）

the owners are really great and helpfull. The situation is great, 10 minutes walking distance from the historic center of Merida. The room was ok, the breakfast was the best we had in mexico, every morning different and made fresh in front of us with plenty of fruits, fresh coffee, fresh juice, pancakes, sandwiches, eggs...the free network worked great […] even in the room and we could park easily in the street. Het echtpaar dat Casa Chalia runt is heel behulpzaam en vriendelijk en zorgt er onmiddellijk voor dat je je thuisvoelt.
