"Friendly, helpful place"
These folks care about their guests. This is especially helpful to tourists who need advice about the roads, sights and how to fulfill their expectations. From the hotel reception to the restaurant staff, all went out of their way to meet our needs. "great little place"
This hotel was so quaint and gorgeous and the staff very accommodating and friendly. We had the attic room so getting our luggage up and down was difficult, but the room itself was comfortable. The location was kind of remote when it came to getting around, but it was very close to the airport which was nice for our early morning flight back to London. our first room had loose wallpaper, the bathroom had mouldy tiles and a shower which sprayed the wall, after being moved, the second bathroom was slightly improved, but still not what you would expect in a 'superior' room the decor throughout hotel could do with a facelift, very tired, and not up to standard...majority of staff very friendly, but gentleman […] at the front desk was lacking customer service skills, and a friendly smile. the saving grace of this hotel was the excellent food, hats off to the chef. We had a friendly and helpful welcome. Our room was clean and comfy, the bathroom is a little dated and the shower was a bit underwhelming, but nothing worth complaining about. The breakfast buffet was ok and the cooked menu to order from was good. We had a ten minute walk to the local shore which was very nice and scenic, other we went to St Peters […] Port which was a 10 minute taxi ride (or an hour to walk). A very handy location for the airport. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"1 night stay ok, not for longer stays"
Very close to the airport, dated decor , extremely narrow halls, paperthin walls, bathroom so small the sink couldn't fit and was therefore in the bedroom. Very tired looking hotel. Tea and coffee facilities in the room, hairdryer present but very old and did not work well, bring your own. Musty smell in the bedroom. Very friendly staff. Room itself […] good size. Only stayed 1 night, did not use restaurant or breakfast. Would not recommend for longer stays, Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Location for Chaos"
Stayed for two nights while attending the Chaos motorcycle/music event as it was only about 4 miles away allowing an affordable taxi ride to the venue each evening. Very helpful staff, comfortable room but bathroom and some facilities are due a refurbishment. Dinner good value. Most guests when we stayed were in the older age groups. "Faulty Towers meets Allo Allo"
My partner and I stayed here mid September for 2 nights as we were at a family christening on the island. We booked this accommodation as we thought I gave value for money, but you get what you pay for. Hotel run by a family from the Netherlands who were friendly enough. Our room was close to reception at the front of the hotel and was extremely tired and in need of some tlc. First morning we were woken at 7am with the first flights taking off which sounded like it was coming through the roof. That was followed by Dutch guests smoking and chatting rather loudly right under our windows which I did complain about to reception. The bar area is where the likeness to Allo Allo comes in and you could see the french resistance plotting here. The saving grace for this establishment is the food. My partner and I were totally surprised at how tasty the food was and we would recommend that. All in all if your looking for somewhere cheap with a few frayed edges then the Le Chene is for you. If your looking for a little luxury you definitely won't find that here.

booked this hotel at the very last minute, not really knowing what to expect. when we arrived we was apprehensive as the hotel was further from st peter port than we had thought. the hotel staff-food and cleanliness easily made up for the dated decor. we chose not to hire a car and used public transport which was frequent and cheap,it also ran late back from town on friday and saturday nights. after having doubts about the hotel i would certainly stay again and recommend to friends, its also handy for the fantastic coastal walks.

We booked last minute choosing le Chene for its location and value for money We walked from the airport about ten minutes however if you have a suitcase number 11 bus picks up at the airport and drops outside of the hotel for £1. The rooms are a little dated however perfectly serviceable. Staff very friendly and lots of little extras such as bus passes , torches library and umbrellas for use. Wifi was ok The breakfast was very good quality with cooked breakfast made to order. I would certainly stay there again .
"look beyond the decor"

Don't let your heart sink as you cross the threshold of Le Chene Hotel just because the doormat is worn and the decor makes you feel like you have been whisked back in time to 1982. The high use areas have been recently painted, the carpets are clean, and the rooms are spotless. Nothing was too much trouble for the young, mostly Romanian staff. Breakfast was of acceptable to good quality. Good quality sausages and bacon are a must for bed and breakfast, and it was a relief to eat properly cooked (not dry) scrambled eggs, a rare thing in any hotel. The one dinner we had was late to arrive, (twelve rounds of I-Spy) but delicious and good value. Our room was basic but with a really comfortable bed, and everything we needed. We borrowed fishing tackle, swam in the pool, lounged in the hot tub and read books in the conservatory. Although near the airport, we did not hear much noise. No planes at night either. I would certainly go there again. Last minute B+B on Guernsey in August for £54 a night? Not bad!
"Great value for money"

We were four adults and two children, so we booked a family room and a standard room. Both rooms were good, the family room was very spacious and ideal for the kids. There was a great vibe amongst the staff, they clearly respected their boss (who often manned the reception) and couldn't do enough for us. The food was so good that we ate at the hotel every night. The swimming pool and spa were good, a great place to relax. Met other guests, some of whom go back there every year. Would definitely return.
"An affordable hotel conveniently located"

This hotel reminded me of the time when as a student I was staying in people's home as a paying guest. The bus stops are just opposite the hotel making it easy to go to town, to the airport or to the coast. The breakfast and dinner are quite good. There is a lovely little bay close by, petit bot bay; if you happen to take the signposted walk down make sure you take the other road through the forest to come back as this walk is even more picturesque.

We've been staying in this hotel many times before and our visits always have been great, thanks to everyone at the le chene hotel! The location is very good: close to the airport, only 15 minutes away from St. Peter Port (if you are going by bus) and one of the most beautiful beaches on the island is just few minutes away from Le Chene. Food is always good, staff is friendly and welcoming, lovely accommodation (you could stay in the bedrooms or take self catering apartments). Considering Le Chene is only a two star hotel, it's got great facilities: nice bar, swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, table tennis, cycle hire etc. We love the idea of a Smart cabrio hire in summer. The list could go on, all we would like to say Le Chene offers all you need for a great visit of the island!

We stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is in need of modernisation . Our room was very basic with old fashioned decor. Sadly we didn't sleep well because of noise from the room above. You could hear through the floorboards. The whole place could do with a lick of paint and brightening up. I'm surprised the money that they spent on a jacuzzi and sauna didn't go to refreshing the rooms. I have to say, there was no real difference between the economy room and superior so save your money. The cost of the rooms per room were not worth the £90 a night. I'm not sure though if other hotels are on a level with cost but I found it expensive for what you get. The breakfast was excellent and most of the staff were very polite. The owner was very upbeat and friendly and the stay would've been perfect had the rooms not been so dated. I wouldn't rush back sadly, sorry
"7 Night stay at Le Chene"
06/23/14 Nenna W Aberdare, United Kingdom
My friend and I have just got back from our holiday in Guernsey where we have been many times before and love the island. I decided to book Le Chene as there was a bus stop outside the hotel, my friend is disabled and we don't drive. There was also a free bus pass included which proved very useful and lasted the week. We had a twin room overlooking the garden on there were a few stairs to go down to the bedroom from the reception but once down them we were on a level with lounge and dining room and garden and pool. The room we had was number7 and it was good and a bathroom with shower everything was spotless. very comfortable mattresses we slept well. We had half board and the food was good and plentiful. The staff were very helpful and friendly I would like to go back one year The weather was hot and sunny the whole week

We stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago for three nights. The hotel was clean and comfortable, the bedroom was quite small but with plenty of storage space, but the decoration was very dated and needs an update. Great breakfast served by very friendly staff. We only had one evening meal at the hotel and this was very good. Be warned that it is near the airport and some people might find the noise a problem, we didn't. A good location for exploring the island.
