"Convenient, but Spartan"
If you are comfortable with European hotels, you will be fine. I was. But, it was clean and looked like it was recently renovated. For the average American, it has no amenities. We are spoiled. The heat and cooling is provided by a window unit that blows across the bed. No closet, Just a wardrobe. No tub in the bath, only a shower. Elevator was so small […] that you couldn't take 2 people and luggage. The $5.00 continental is basically carbs and bad coffee. You can do better on the corner. With all that said. I might stay there again. The price was reasonable. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Happy I Chose It"
This is not a fancy hotel--it's an old building. Room 205 had a spacious modern bathroom which was very welcome. The hotel has a brew-pub restaurant on site (good food) and discounts for hotel guests. Modest breakfast was provided which was great since we could avail ourselves of great restaurants within three blocks. Fabulous location. Great value […] in overpriced DC. "Convenient location but..."
We stayed like 5 nights in a small squeaky queen size bed and it was very uncomfortable, small, noisy and just blah!!! it was convenient to go places.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Basic comfort, good location, small."
More like an inn than a full service hotel. Breakfast was ok -- real orange juice, by the way, not the juice-like foam. The internet connection was ok for the most part. The room was small but clean. Helpful, friendly staff. Good, quiet, residential location. A couple of nice restaurants nearby. Terrible parking situation -- no parking garages nearby […] -- pretty sure the nearest one is at least 10 min away, but -- DON'T LOOK FOR GARAGE BEFORE CHECKING IN -- THE STAFF MIGHT RECOMMEND A FREE PARKING SPOT ON THE STREET, DEPENDING ON THAT DAY'S PARKING REGULATIONS. "Disgusting Hotel and Horrendous Staff"
After many years of business travel, I can say that this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Avoid if at all possible. I had a number of rooms booked for myself and colleagues only to be told, upon arrival from long flights, that there were no rooms left. The desk attendant yelled at me for being concerned about whether we would have a place to […] stay that evening, though he could not even confirm they would be able to find us rooms for the night. While this was happening, we watched the manager rudely yell at a hotel guest for complaining that the TV in his room was not working. After nearly an hour and missing a meeting, some of us got rooms and others were booked elsewhere. While my room smelled of mold and had a used cigarette on the carpet, other colleagues were sent to locations that smelled of sewage and had other problems. For all this, we were offered a beer at the bar. The staff were incompetent, rude and unapologetic. There is NO need to stay here unless there is nowhere else in the city left. The hotel is cute and since it's an older building it has a very lived in homey feel. I felt that the desk help was a bit introverted and information regarding the amenities like the free wifi were not disclosed. I would suggest providing some power outlets closer to the bed, my room had an outlet in that area but I had to sacrifice either the bedside […] light or the alarm clock if I wanted to use the socket. No overhead switch that I could find even though there was an overhead light. So one has to turn on the bathroom fan/light if you want basic room lighting. The in room info was non existent or missing, info about WIFI log in, check out time and basic amenities that are provided with your stay such as breakfast hours. All in all it was ok for one night but I would find another hotel if you want to be closer to the DC sights. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Stay at Bier Baron"
I found this hotel below its 3 star rating! Was totally misleading for its room rate .Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good enough for a short stay."
The hotel was very close to the metro which was a plus. The bed linens were clean. However, the 2 nights that we stayed, there was no heat in the room and we froze. The room was good enough for a short stay. There is a beer hall and restaurant on the first floor. Great beers with an extensive menu of beers. Ok food. Again, the rate was nice. It's in […] a very nice neighborhood. Close to lots of restaurants. Bring ear plugs. You can hear too much noise from the restaurant and lots of banging at night. If you can get a better rate somewhere else though then stay in another hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"small very small"
The location of this hotel is great easy access the subway and Dupont Cir. The rooms or at least mine was so small that I couldn't turn around without hitting something. This is a room that could benefit from a murphy bed and a low profile bureau. The desk was beaten up took up space that could be better used. The wardrobe essentially blocked the heater/ac […] unit. Clean room but showing signs long time wear. The "included" breakfast wasn't. It doesn't start till 7am well after the time most business folks like myself head out. The morning check out staff couldn't be bothered to look up from facebook so I could check out. In short yes its clean, small and covienient but the staff is disinterested. We were supposed to be at the Baron but when we checks in they said that some rooms had water damage and they moved us to another hotel of theirs, the Windsor. We had to walk with our suitcases about fifteen minutes since we'd already found a parking spot on the street after looking for a half hour. Then when I called the Windsor to tell them we'd be […] there in an hour they said the hotel was full and didn't have me on their list even though I was there when the Bsrin called them. Finally got it settled. Then the Windsor had one room for me in the basement or a fourth floor walk up. Location was nowhere near where I wanted to be, i.e., near Foggy Bottom. It was closer to U St. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent hotel at low price, in a great location!"
I only stayed here one night, but this hotel met my needs -- inexpensive, clean, polite + helpful service, located in a great neighborhood (Dupont Circle) near the metro, restaurants and shops. I would highly recommend this hotel and will likely stay here again the next time I'm in DC.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quaint getaway from the hustle of Downtown DC"
This was my first time staying in DC. It was a great choice! We were only a 20 minute walk from the National Mall but we saved a lot of money compared to the hotels closer to the mall. There is a pub downstairs called the Bier Baron, where you receive 15% off your bill as a hotel guest. We ended up enjoying the pub both evenings. The best part of my […] stay was that I forgot my ID and Credit Card in the hotel room and the staff did everything they could to help me find it and get it back to me several states away. Considering that there didn't seem to be a ton of staff working at a time, I was very impressed by the attention to detail and my experience as a hotel guest. There is a free breakfast for guests too, but was not exactly what we were looking for because it was a lot of carbs- bagels, pastries, cereal, etc. All in all, I would go back and stay again! The room itself felt like it had a lot of history, and there was a great view from the nice big windows. It almost had a Bed & Breakfast kind of feel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We were happy to find a hotel not too far away from the main attractions in Washington DC at a fairly decent rate. The gentleman in the reception area during the day is very professional and the young lady you see at night is very friendly. The rooms are small but very very clean and that's the most important feature we are looking for in a hotel. The […] continental breakfast is not that great but it will keep you satisfied. "for one night it is ok"
We booked this hotel because it was difficult to find another one as others were all booked during cherry blossom festival or higher in price. Location is ok. A few nice restaurants in the vicinity. Parking was a problem. Breakfast was very basic. The Beer pub in the basement looked very cozy.Genuine Expedia guest review
It was really nice and convenient to stay there. The only drawback was the breakfast (not a lot of choice) and the elevator (not easy to handle). Stairs up to the hotel are also a drawback if you are traveling alone and there is no one there to help you.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"a solid, 2-star hotel"
Good: - great location - friendly staff Bad: - tired hotel - sub-par, continental breakfastGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very basic, clean hotel room for a good price. This is a smaller place above a bar but it's clean, you get breakfast, 15% off in the restaurant downstairs and it's in a great neighborhood. Very good deal for DCGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We loved this place. Yes, we had the small room and you know what? It's all we needed! The breakfast left a little to be desired but it was a standard continental breakfast. The gentleman sitting at the front desk wasn't all too attentive. The other staff was great!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Right next to hospital, sirens all night."
Having a tavern in the building was awesome. Super safe and friendly neighborhood. nowhere near the monuments needed to take the subway. The ambulance sirens were so loud, kept me up all night. Front desk staff not helpful. Parking right outside on weekends only.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent hotel, good price."
This is an old fashioned hotel...wood staircase, and floors that creak. It's charming in that sense, clean and maintained well enough. The free buffet breakfast is 'continental' fare. There is an active bar/restaurant on the lower level, with beer choices galore. Oh, the 'orange' scent air freshener or disinfectant was way too potent in my room. Dupont […] Circle is short walk. If you need hint of upscale luxury in a hotel, this is not for you. I give five it 3 of 5 stars for the solo biz traveler on a budget. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good price but a little noisy"
The room was clean with an updated bathroom but street noise was loud all night. The room faced the street directly over the tavern.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great place to stay in a pint for the cost. The room was clean, bed comfortable. Continental breakfast is all the have, so if you want more than dry toast, day old bagels and cereal venture out for something more. Great location!! Lots of resturants and close to Dupont Cir Metro Sta.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Fantastic bar/restaurant in the basement"
If I had not gone into the bar I would never choose this hotel again. Rooms were tiny and uncomfortable. Cold and noisy nights. The halls of the hotel had a Winchester Mystery House feel, the front staff were generally disinterested, the "breakfast" not worth the time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My boyfriend and I were in DC for a weekend getaway. The price for the hotel was appealing because we didn't plan spending much time in the actual room. The breakfast offered was continental but underpar, staff were not welcoming, wardrobe in room was on the verge of breaking and room was incredibly small.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location and atmosphere."
Arriving late Sunday night, I checked in and headed to the tavern for a beer (about 1030 pm). Nice cozy atmosphere with a bartender who was well versed in the many beers available. Most enjoyable.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Cheap Hotel in an expensive district"
I needed a place to stay for the night due to the snowstorm. Pulling up Expedia (and other 3rd party sites), this was by far the cheapest room in the area. It was clean (enough), the room was spartan, and the bed was very uncomfortable. Breakfast was Cheerios with milk/juice/coffee and some day-old donuts. "Not a luxury, but clean room, good location."
It has no extra frills, but the room was clean, updated. Updated bathroom, new fixtures, nice tile shower. The place actually has a bit of charm, the old staircases and elevator, etc. If you want all the amenities, etc, then this place aint it. No coffee maker, no fridge in the room, even the power outlets are a bit scarce, no iron in the room, but […] I got one and a little ironing board at the front desk. I can tolerate a lack of amenities. But I gotta have a clean room. It worked for me. There is a tavern/restaurant under it all, that seemed to do a fair amount of business, so there are mostly young people coming and going. I was there for 3 nights over a weekend. "Close to Dupont Circle Station"
My girlfriend and I spent two nights there. Great location. It's an old hotel and heating is too noisy. The bed is not really comfort. But service and breakfast there are good. Overall it is a fair place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For a budget hotel the Baron was just fine. It is just a few blocks to DuPont Circle. The room had been recently renovated and everything was clean and neat. The towels were plentiful and fluffy. My only complaint is that the room was quite cold when I arrived and the window unit took a while to warm it up. Continental breakfast was okay but served […] in the tap room, which was dingy in the morning light. But there are plenty of restaurants nearby where you can enjoy a nicer breakfast. My boyfriend & I came into the City for a day trip and decided to stay over at the last minute. We found at great rate at The Baron thanks to hotels dot com. Very good room for the price. Room was small, no coffee pot, no space for a roll-in bed but very cozy, clean, comfortable. Safe location, lots of restaurants and shops nearby.
