Nice location off of P Street, great access to food and Embassy Row. Walkable to National Mall. Very cute hotel and delicious food at the bar downstairs. Would recommend for those looking to do DC on a budget.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Honky tonk accommodation"
Okay if you like dive bars. The hotel sort revolves around the beer hall in the basement. Well, you get what you pay for, and you pay for what you get.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Cheap Hotel in an expensive district"
I needed a place to stay for the night due to the snowstorm. Pulling up Expedia (and other 3rd party sites), this was by far the cheapest room in the area. It was clean (enough), the room was spartan, and the bed was very uncomfortable. Breakfast was Cheerios with milk/juice/coffee and some day-old donuts. Bottom Line: You get what you pay for, keep […] that in mind. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"neat little hotel"
Perfect location, very friendly staff - our room was small, but we knew that going in. Loved the old feel of the place. The only drawback was trying to find parking ... would definitely go again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Vintage, interesting hotel"
Very close to a lot of fun activities in Dupont circle. Bar down stairs is quaint and convenient. Overall very clean and comfortable. Had a very cool vintage feel to it. I would definitely recommend staying, unless youre snobby..Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not a luxury, but clean room, good location."
It has no extra frills, but the room was clean, updated. Updated bathroom, new fixtures, nice tile shower. The place actually has a bit of charm, the old staircases and elevator, etc. If you want all the amenities, etc, then this place aint it. No coffee maker, no fridge in the room, even the power outlets are a bit scarce, no iron in the room, but […] I got one and a little ironing board at the front desk. I can tolerate a lack of amenities. But I gotta have a clean room. It worked for me. There is a tavern/restaurant under it all, that seemed to do a fair amount of business, so there are mostly young people coming and going. I was there for 3 nights over a weekend. I didn't expect a 5 star hotel but this place was just fine, good value, pleasant and helpful staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wanted cheap, not terrible!"
Room was small, dirty, cold...there were no vending machines on property! The staff was excellent and accommodated an early checkin for me. I would not recommend this hotel!Genuine Expedia guest review
Small rooms that are nicely furnished, very clean, and comfortable bed. Location can't be beat so if you want an very affordable accommodation and have no great love for the formulaic and sterile chain motel, try this one.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Charming hotel and pub combined"
Really friendly, affordable and comfortable place in a central DC location. The breakfast setting is a nice surprise, if you are a beer lover.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to Dupont Circle Station"
My girlfriend and I spent two nights there. Great location. It's an old hotel and heating is too noisy. The bed is not really comfort. But service and breakfast there are good. Overall it is a fair place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For a budget hotel the Baron was just fine. It is just a few blocks to DuPont Circle. The room had been recently renovated and everything was clean and neat. The towels were plentiful and fluffy. My only complaint is that the room was quite cold when I arrived and the window unit took a while to warm it up. Continental breakfast was okay but served […] in the tap room, which was dingy in the morning light. But there are plenty of restaurants nearby where you can enjoy a nicer breakfast. "Good value and great location"
My boyfriend & I came into the City for a day trip and decided to stay over at the last minute. We found at great rate at The Baron thanks to hotels dot com. The room was fairly small, but suited our needs perfectly. My only complaint would be that the heater was really, really loud when it kicked on. The tavern downstairs served great food and had […] an impressive beer list. The location was ideal. Right in the Dupont Circle neighborhood, which has a lot to offer in the way of food, bars, and culture. The next time we come into DC, we're going to plan ahead and include The Baron in our plans again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Small inexpensive room downtown"
Very good room for the price. Room was small, no coffee pot, no space for a roll-in bed but very cozy, clean, comfortable. Safe location, lots of restaurants and shops nearby. There is a small residential-type elevator available. Staff was very friendly, helped us find a cab on short notice, watched our luggage after checkout.Genuine Expedia guest review
Is small and nothing fancy but it's so quaint and fun. There is an awesome tavern underneath the hotel. The staff is friendly and the location is great. The rooms are small and the beds aren't anything special but I loved it!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very hard to get sleep in a hotel located above a barGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is located at a very nice neighborhood and there are a lots of option for eating out just few blocks away. The rooms are comparatively small in size but ok for two persons. The hotel has free breakfast but when I went down there were no other guests there and only two things are there two eat some cereals and bread. They had coffee, mik and […] OJ and thats it. The free Wi-Fi is good for surfing net but not streaming. The Bathrooms seems small but linens and towel looks and feels fresh. Overall its a Ok stay for a night. "Clean Hotel, Courteous Staff, OLD Structure"
This hotel was among the cheapest options I could find in the northwest for the weekend that I needed to be in DC. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the room itself was very clean. This is by no means a modern hotel with amenities. It is bare bones, it is O-L-D (carpets, furniture, mattresses), but it is well kept and well managed. The […] old adage is you get what you pay for: that is the case here. Nothing fancy--but does the job really, really well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's a handful of rooms above a bar"
The name of the hotel online is "The Baron," but the sign out front is for "The Bier Baron." This is a basement bar with regular live music, karaoke, and stand-up on the schedule and 20 or so rooms upstairs. The stairs are creaky, the elevator scary, and the rooms are heated/cooled by a loud window unit. HOWEVER, the room was very clean, the towels […] were big and newish, and it was nice, when I got into my room at 11 after a long day of travelling and every nearby restaurant was closed, to be able to go down to the basement and get a plate of duck tacos for $12 including tax and tip. The bar noise never reached my room, either; just the noise of the bar patrons on the street. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
In an era of excess in accommodations, the Baron Hotel excels in providing simple quality. The time I spend sleeping, in a safe, clean, comfortable room, does not require bells and whistles, only the basics, done well. The Baron Hotel provides these, and then you walk out the door and BAM! you are on Rock Creek, near buses, the Metro, and within walking […] distance of everything in Washington, DC!! "Not a Luxorious Hotel, but a Good Night's Sleep"
This hotel reminded me of a budget hotel in London - the rooms are a bit spartan and if you are used to staying at a chain hotel you'll miss a number of amenities. Wallking into this hotel is a bit strange, it is associated with a tavern and you get the sense that you might have made a mistake booking this hotel for a business trip. You didn't. The […] rooms are clean and safe, I didn't notice any signs of disrepair and, again, it reminded me more of a budget hotel in Europe. Great location, comfortable bed, clean bathroom, no luxury. "Modest and spartan"
Room was pretty plain.... only one lamp, one bedside table, one metal chair. Pretty threadbare. Bathroom at least was clean. Breakfast minimal, in a dark, dank bar area. Good location, but for the price of $ 150, one can do better I'm sure.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Beware and be prepared"
When I showed up at 9pm for check in the Baron told me that my room was "out of service" and they were transferring me to their sister hotel, The Embassy Inn. I chose the Baron because of location and walking distance to work while in DC. If I had been smart I would have read the other recent reviews on here to see that this has become a common practice […] with them. This new hotel would be much further away and now I wouldn't be able to walk to work. They did offer me a slice of cold pizza to make up for it (wow). After the cab ride to the Embassy Inn I was put in the basement room which was musty, damp and smelled horrible. My allergies went crazy and I couldn't believe what was happening. The bed was the worst I've ever experienced in my life. I ended up sleeping with my head at the foot of the bed the second night to try and help with the sagging mattress. The people at the Embassy Inn said there were no other rooms available due to all the Baron transfers and my only option was to find another hotel on my own or stay in the basement. I now know to only stay at chains and not even go near an independent hotel in DC like the Baron or the Embassy Inn. This was such a disappointment and horrible experience. The rooms are not large, but they serve their purpose well. Outstanding location and the tavern was a fantastic place to eat. As long as you are not looking for a Hilton style room I would recommend it. Nice atmosphere and a wonderful character to the place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Simple and Clean, Good Location"
I found the Baron Hotel to be simple and clean. The rooms are small, but comfortable. The individuals working at the front desk were friendly and helpful. The adjacent bar did have a fairly large crowd at night, but I think this is expected after reading the description of the hotel and bar.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, pretty good hotel, good price"
Hotel is perfectly fine for a 1-2 night stay where you just need a place to lay your head. It's clean, put together, has a simple breakfast that's included. Be warned that the elevator is tiny and has to be manually maneuvered. Otherwise, would stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place in a good location"
This was a good find. I was in a room opposite the bar but it was quiet, clean, and fine (at least on weeknights). Given the good location as well -- I would definitely recommend the place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"They moved me to another Hotel"
When I arrived the rooms where under construction so they called two of their other property's to get me a room. They finally found me one. The Eldon Suites. I was very satisfied with the Eldon. My only complaint is that they never contacted me about having me move to another hotel. I had taken the shuttle from IAD to DC and then had to take a Taxi […] to the other hotel. They did pay for it but we where very tired. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"what went wrong"
Well if we actually stayed there it might have been nice however after an annoying lengh of time trying to find parking nearby we found it our reservation had actually been transferred to one of their other properties. The Windsor hotel. Which was a mile or so away. This property also didn't offer on Site parking and we had to pay for overnight parking […] at a nearby garage. The staff at the Windsor hotel was fantastic and the location was ideal. The hotel itself was run down with frayed lamp shades, broken tiles, and cracked moldings. The room we stayed in had a very pungent musty odor. And the Window in our room which led to the fire escape didn't lock. The one positive to our stay was the front desk staff who was informed and friendly. Unfortunately that was not enough for us to want to stay with any of these properties again. great location and staff... can be a bit noisy... easily worth the price.Genuine Expedia guest review
The EXTREMELY loud metal music Sunday night until 11pm was AWFUL. The stay was otherwise uneventful and fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value, no frills."
A well-worn venue, fine for the money, but right on the edge of "a little too funky," Generally clean, but carpets are stained, furniture worn out or rickety. If you just need to dive into a bed for reasonable money, this is a fine establishment.Genuine Expedia guest review
my only issue was that the clock radio in the room lacked a user manual. I couldn't figure out how to work it. Fortunately, the wake up calls worked well, but I prefer not to use them. I was attending a conference, it was important I be there on time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A bargain with respect to price for the area."
It was a Friday night and the noise factor was a problem--some loud voices coming from the alley, several sirens into the night, garbage trucks in the early morning.. The continental breakfast was a nice feature. The building is old, but the room was large, as was the bathroom with nice painted walls.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Horrible and Loud"
Don't stay here! The hotel is located over a bar and there is loud music playing until late. There were no toiletries and the rooms, although not terrible, are not nice, but cleaned ok.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Best possible location for the price"
I really wanted to be close to Dupont Circle and Georgetown, and the Baron Hotel was just what I was looking for at a reasonable price. I was able to stay here for less than $100/night. That said, the elevator broke down during my stay and the hotel itself wasn't upscale by any means. I was generally unhappy with the state of maintenance and the general […] ambiance, but the fact is that the price can't be beat for the location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Depends on what you're looking for.."
Advantages: -Clean! -Friendly and polite staff -Close to major attractions for less money than surrounding hotels -Bier Baron below the hotel has a fantastic beer selection Disadvantages: -Horrible mattress, lumpy, made our backs sore, not hotel-grade at all! -Wifi not available majority of the time, and a 3G deadzone for verizon -Free breakfast was […] choice of 2 cereals, old bagels, or doughnuts -Bathroom was directly across from foot of the bed with about a foot of space and a sliding door (awkward) -Very little water pressure -Tv on the side of the bed, hard to watch My wife and I (we're in our late 20's) wanted a place walking distance from bars and the memorials/museums for a week- long stay before a friend's wedding. Excellent, safe location for much cheaper than surrounding hotels, but weigh that with disadvantages above to see if that's worth the lower price to you! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
