"Good budget hotel."
Great location. Room was very clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fun place, average rooms"
I stayed at the Baron about 2 years ago, and really loved the location and the fact that there is a cool dive bar in the hotel- so we decided to stay here again. The hotel has an interesting old-fashioned feel to it, and the bar downstairs is very fun. I wished the main bar hadn't been closed off so much for private events, since it's much larger and […] brighter, but it wasn't a huge deal. The location is great, close to DuPont Metro stop, and if it is nice enough it is walkable to the mall (if you like walking). The rooms are small and the bed wasn't super comfortable, but if you are looking for somewhere to crash and that's about it, this is a great place to stay! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location - badly needs refurbishment"
Great location for access to downtown DC - good selection of restaurants nearby Hotel is a bit shabby and room while clean was spartan and in need of refurbishment. Staff were helpful. Hotel has no parking bar a few spots on street outside which must be vacated during afternoon rush hour ....Genuine Expedia guest review
We stayed at The Baron when in town for a friend's wedding and had a wonderful time. It was a great alternative to the over priced chain hotels in town. It had old world charm and an awesome bar/restaurant in the basement that was great for a night cap with our friends. The parking in the area was very limited, so we'd recommend not renting a vehicle […] if you are staying. Also, the breakfast was some toast and coffee. Thankfully, there are tons a great restaurants nearby! We will definitely stay again! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"knew it was bad"
knew it was not a good hotel but tried anyway due to price and at least some reviews. horrible hotel, dirty, small, beds are worn, mattresses are old and carpets are also old and dirty. don't stay here unless you are a young person that wants to party in Washington in a cheap hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Close to Dupont circle , metro is a short walk away , eateries every block , I will go back and stay there again !!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"simple but nice"
really good for the priceGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and Comfortable"
No bells and whistles here, but it is a clean and comfortable place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
was a great stay, however wifi connection was so weak.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best value for price"
A clean room in-line with the price. It's perfect for spending the night and visit during the day, do not expect more than a clean and usefull room. I'll definitely go back. In addition the district is cool and hotel is close from Subway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK for 1 night"
Stayed for one night. Extremely basic room, double bed & twin (we were a couple) which made things slightly inconvenient. Clean but very plain.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Older hotel that is very clean."
The room I stayed in was small but it was the cleanest room I've probably ever stayed in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great vibe and location"
Helpful staff, terrific location and a hipster bar with 600 beers; The Baron is a very low-key, comfortable stay in an otherwise pretentious city.Genuine Expedia guest review
"You get what you pay for."
THINK VERY CAREFULLY ABOUT STAYING HERE and read through the themes that run consistent throughout these reviews should convince you of that. REMEMBER, You get what you pay for. If you're an adult beyond the college years then you probably won't enjoy it. If you are a college kid and used to dorm/frat house life, dirty carpetting and doorways that are […] gross then you probably will not be so bothered. If your looking for a bargain basement price, you will have comparable quality accomodations, customer service and environment, all of which were horrible, this is the place for you. If you like walking through a cloud of cigarette smoke from all of the smokers standing at the front door, this is the place for you. If you like a bedroom the size of my walk-in closet, this is the place for you. If you like said bedroom windows to offer a vista of neighboring brick walls and back alley trash, then this is the place for you. If you like a breakfast that supplies a toaster, two types of cereal and bad coffee, in a dark, beer stenched room, then this is the place for you. If you like music thumping through the building(from the bar on the first two levels) of the building while you're attempting to sleep or you're not bothered by hearing "a little too much information" from neighboring rooms, then this is the place for you. Not a place for a light sleeper. I am a "glass half full" person but honestly it was tough to find anything redeemable about this place. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"What's to like?"
great location. lazy staff, and rude. no receipt, no early check-in, no blanket, no bedspread, no glass in room for water, no ice, no wheelchair access, overpriced .... biggest disappointment i've had in DC. will i stay again? no!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Its like visiting your eldest Aunt- in a good way"
If you have never visited your 80 yr old aunt and wanted to know what spending the night would be like, well, then this is the hotel that will give you that expierence- Old, clean, and comfortable enough with no frills. Its one of the cheapest hotels in the city, so dont expect much and you wont be disappointed. Yes, the hotel has a kinda cool bar downstairs […] that can get loud until 11PM (not a problem as we were part of the noise) when the band stops playing. Yes it is an old hotel, with an elevator I had not seen since Europe. Yes, rooms are TINY, and the beds not the most comfortable, BUT the rooms were clean, bathrooms updated, and since I wanted a cheap room in a good location- I got it. the TV worked, the water was hot with great pressure, the staff responsive enough but it isnt a place to take someone you want to impress. This place was near cool bars, nice resturants and had an eclectic vibe. It was a one block walk to the metro, and 10 dollars by taxi to the Washington Monument. No frills. But we had fun there, with the room providing some good stories. Would I stay here again- Yes. Dont stay here if you have a bad lower back (BEDS) and the Coat clostet sized manual elevator may be a problem if you dont like small spaces. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Bed sqeeked very loudly evertime i moved. Hotel had concert in bar for local band. Roomvibrated till after 2 am. I do not recommend this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Not really a 3-star hotel, more like a 2 or 2.5. Very loud on weekends w/ busy bar on premises. Very dated and old rooms not in best shape but generally clean. It is what it is for the price and location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean but noisey"
Stayed here because the price was affordable and the location excellent. The bed was so loud, squeaked every time you turned over. Bar in hotel had a rock concert on Sat night until after 2 am. The room I was in was vibrating and the music could be heard in the room up on the second floor. Great location, affordable price but we got no rest. Not sure […] I'll stay there again. If that's all I can afford next time I'll stay home. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"not recommended to family"
The room is very very small , elevator is very crazy, full of suffocation.i am not recommended to anyone to visit the hotel specially those who will come with their family. And , I was surprising this hotel is 3 STAR hotel.....I doubtGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rustic and Cozy"
The room was clean and quiet, but tiny and old fashioned. Convenient to DuPont Circle and the Metro. Breakfast was all carbs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Old Fashioned Hotel"
The area is a wonderful urban neighborhood that has nice shops and great little resraurants. It is near Dupont Circle and the metro. It is LGBT friendly. The hotel is a converted house that is quaint. I loved the exposed bricks and the elevator. It has one of the first elevators installed in DC complete with metal pull gate that has been recently been […] refurbished. Be forewarned, it is very small. The beds left something to be desired, very little padding. The bathroom was the best part, bright and airy. I've seen reviews of people complaining about the window air conditioner being too loud. I didn't find it to be an issue. Everyone was warm and friendly. The tavern on the first floor was great, the drinks reasonably priced. The beer selection is large enough to fit in a 1 inch binder. The staff was friendly and helpful. The music selection that night was rap but they may change it per night - I'm not too sure. Regardless it was at a manageable level so you could still have a conversation without having to yell over the music. In all, if you're looking for a pristine four star hotel in a sanitized neighborhood, this place isn't for you. If you'really looking for a place with character and a neighborhood with personality, then this might be what you're looking for. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not what i expected!"
Te hotel is clean and the location is great, but the rooms are in desperate need if maintenance. The beds (mattress) wa extremely old and uncomfortable. My reservation was suppossed to include breakfast which was confirmed in the booking confirmation, however when I checked in they made it very clear that I wasn't included and had to be paid separately. If you're a "just there to sleep" trip type person, this place is perfect for the price and location. Parking not the greatest but it is DC... Basic needs met in the room and very clean inside.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel definitely needs maintenance. It was stuffy inside the hotel. Carpets need to be changed. It needs some remodeling and TLC. The place has great potential though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Pool in shambles, forced into a smoking room that stunk. Thin walls. Doors had gaps and looked like it was attached by wolves.Genuine Expedia guest review
"All of DC is within a moderately priced Uber ride"
The price of the hotel was appealing. There is no parking at the hotel, must use the parking garages 4 blocks away, and they close up at 11PM. Street parking is difficult to find. Every time we entered and departed, there were people smoking on the porch outside the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Worst hotel the beds are too small the carpets are dirty couldnt slept the whole night. Lost my faith on hotels.com for recommending such a third class class hotel not going to book with hotels.com any more.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Not fancy, no frills, no curtains, very simple and all we needed to get a good night sleep for a reasonable price. Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was clean. Looks like the bathroom was recently renovated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel close to almost everything."
It was a nice vacation for me and my wife. We enjoyed or stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location, but basic"
The hotel is operated by a pub. On weekends the pub takes over the place, with folks hanging out on the stairs. It is a small, well located old hotel. The rooms are clean and basic. Air conditioning was good. Room layout was weird, the bed was a small full size, and there was one chair and a small table, no closet. Bathroom was ok, clean, but door opened […] directly onto bed, very little room to move around. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming, old hotel. Close to the Metro."
I was only in my room to sleep, but the bed was very comfortable and the room was clean.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good location and clean. Cheap for DC. No working WiFi. No water pressure to speak of. When I arrived, the bed had no headboard, but you could see big splotches of glue where the old headboard had been. They replaced the headboard one day, but at auch lower height and didn't bother about the splotches, which still showed. That is exactly the level of […] maintenance seen throughout the hotel. It needs a major reno, but then it won't be so cheap. Pick your poison. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"DuPont Circle--Convenient Location"
I stayed at the Baron Hotel in the DuPont Circle area of Washington, DC. This hotel is not a chain hotel, but more of a standalone. The hotel was in a great location, located near many local restaurants, bakeries and shops. It was also very close to the Metro, Krispy Kreme Donuts, Panera Bread and the bus. The hotel has a bar/tavern that serves food […] in addition to shows, games and other fun events. I also took notice that there was loud music 2 out of the 3 nights that I was there. I am unsure if it came from the bar/tavern or a nearby location. It did keep me up at night. Additionally, the bed wasn't all that comfortable, so please don't expect a plush, memory foam or pillow-top bed. Other than that, my stay was good. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"One if my worst experiences"
Booked a room in advanced. When I got there to check in they informed me that the room doesn't have water or ac unit. They offered to accommodate me in another "sister hotel" in the middle of nowhere. Something is seriously wrong with their customer service and their responsiveness. Never go there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good location 5 min walk to Dupont Circle and 5 min Bus to Georgetown. Don't expect any luxury or extra conform.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"One Step Up from a Youth Hostel"

"good site as base to see city and Dupont Circle"
Had two bars. some music sound from bar till 12. Not problem for us. Had comedy improv one night. Had a good stay, convenient. good food nearby. Parking in city very tough. A few spaces in front of hotel free all day except 4-630.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"good location - but needs refurbishment"
not good - front too old, dirty, needs revamping e.g. only 2 seats in the lobby, seriously!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Low shower pressure"
The shower pressure was terrible but other than that, it was a great price, location, and service was good. Plus when you stay you are offered s discount on food from the tavern downstairs. The bed was huge and comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Clean, simple, great area"
This hotel is nice and old but they do their very best to keep it clean and comfortable. There is nothing fancy about the room, it's a bit like staying in a great aunt's spare bedroom, but it's so clean and the bathroom was new and updated - so nice! The hotel is also in a very diverse-restaurant neighborhood and around the corner from the yummiest […] Moroccan restaurant. The bar downstairs in the hotel is also super convenient. The rates we got had me had me slightly concerned about the quality of the room but I was very pleasantly surprised! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
