Great price for a beautiful place to stay in the mountains.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Thought bedding was very uncomfortable., woke up with back aches. Was not really big enough for 4 people to sleep comfortably. Thought hotel was a little too far from town, and our room was a little dusty smelling. Otherwise was a very nice place Might consider staying in a different room on the next trip out.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"It was a great place to stay."
The room was great. The biggest frustration was that the information I read never said it was 25 miles from Durango. Not convenient to restaurants or the railroad. Other that that it was lovely.Genuine Expedia guest review
The balcony was a real treat. My room was well decorated and very very clean. Staff was very nice as well. Only issue was the upper bedroom was a bit stuffy in the end of June but in the winter I bet it would be fine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Place to get away"
Fantastic quiet place to stay in the most beautiful part of Colorado. The pool area is great and with hiking trails nearby you can have a great day without even leaving.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
When we booked this hotel on your site, the address was "Durango". All of our activities were planned in the downtown Durango Area. The address of the resort was not availabe on any GPS and the Resort shuts down at 6:00 pm - Voice mail only. We had to stop four times to get directions and find out that the resort is at Purgatory Ski Area - some 40 minutes […] outside of town. The resort was very peaceful and beautiful setting, but it seemed deserted in regards to services and was a treck coming and going to our activities. We think your website should be very specific that they are not located in Durango and what the travel times are to the City of Durango proper. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Happy new year"
Great place to stay. Really had no complaints had a wonderful time at resort with DMR 2 miles away which was nice. Drove to Durango twice in good weather which was about 35 minutes away. Tennis court was filled with about 2-3ft of snow which made for nice play place for kids as well as areas where they where able to sled and have snow ball fights. Pool […] and hot tub were very nice with no issues as we had it to our selves when we were there. Plenty of wood for fire place which was nice but beware of popping of burning wood keep wife up first night. The only issue was one of the electric burners was out and a few light bulbs were out as well but didn't even let them know till we left cause no big deal. Washer and dryer where a huge help and rest of condo was pleasant.. Called ahead about check in and they had our keys ready there at front desk when we arrived which I was a little worried about. Will be coming back to this resort I'm sure. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This place was about 40 minutes north of Durango on the mountain. It was awesome to be able to spend a night in the snow!! "Interesting condo with a nice location"
Cascade Village is actually condos that are managed like a hotel. Our room was clean and functional, with a kitchen, small table, couch, fireplace, and a loft bedroom. The style of the room looked a bit dated (maybe from the early 80s, I would guess), but it was in great shape and was well maintained. The only downside for us was that there is no air […] conditioning that I could see. The room does not have much in the way of ventilation, so it was a bit warm. I just opened the balcony door, and it cooled off enough, but it would be nice if the skylight in the loft could open and let some of the heat out. I would guess that the details of the rooms vary from room to room. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice and Remote, Summer Stay"
Very Remote and close to the 9000 Foot level so we did suffer some altitude sickness when we arrived, the Condo was nice and very much like home, some of the appliances like the washer and dryer and the Fridge were at the end of their life but did work however need to be replaced. The overall resort was a ghost town, you get the feeling that you are […] the only one their besides the maintenance guys, you can tell this is mainly used during ski season so service was difficult to get being that the desk closed down at 6:00. Also make sure to bring food, there are no restaurants open within 20 miles in the summer months that we could find (including the Resort). The surrounding mountains are spectacular and the fishing was so fun Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a hotel"
We got a 375 square foot condo with not so much a king bed, but that really didn't matter. We got the mountain view with a fireplace, that in itself made it great. Nice kitchenette with all the necessary items (no oven). There's a great little pizza place and restaurant right down the road, but this is fairly far out from Durango (28 miles north). "Beautiful setting, very nice place"
Easy check in for late arrivals, very nice place, clean. Balcony with wonderful view. One caution, there wasn't an elevator and you must climb stairs if you are not on the bottom floor. Covered parking was great, it was raining when we left so we didn't have to muck about in the weather to load our car. "Nice condo near Durango Mountain Resort"
Condo was nicely furnished and maintained. Didn't realize that there wouldn't be central air conditioning, but with the windows open and fan blowing it was cool enough. As a resort, it was obvious that summer is the off season. Hot tubs needed maintenance. A drive from Durango to do activities in town. It was quiet and picturesque.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Stunning mountain views"
This is a beautiful, roomy, well appointed condo. The location is perfect for being able to step out the door and go for a walk. It is also close to many Jeep roads with breath-taking scenery. It's also close enough to take advantage of the touristy towns of Silverton, Ouray & Durango.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great room - in the middle of nowhere!"
Be aware that this is a resort condominium. There is no attendant after 5 or 6 PM, there is no one to answer your call, or to leave a message to (we tried both as we attempted to find this place). You pick up and leave your keys in an unlocked box -with nobody to tell you this. It is located halfway between Durango and Silverton. The address says Durango, […] but it is 30 miles north of Durango. If you are planning to visit Durango, get another motel that is closer. It might work OK if you are going skiing nearby. The room was great, but the convenience was terrible. Also, no air conditioning. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"tired and in need of up grades"
again, tired property and in need of up grades....they want me to say more but, it is tired and needs lots of deferred maintenanceGenuine Expedia guest review
First, it is NOT in Durango as advertised...it is 24 miles away with no restaurants, grocery stores etc. If you are not familiar with mountain driving, let me tell you that 24 miles can take 40 minutes. NOT convenient with hungry tired kids. It was out dated ( wifi forget it ..if you happen to have an IPAD). The staff was not concerned at all with their […] employers interests and could care less about customer service. If you are going to arrive late, you had better know how to get in touch with the reception area before 5pm or you will be left hanging and a voice mail saying they will get in touch with you when they can ( which will be never) and then when you finally find the place the keys will be just left in an envelope for you IF you can find the place. AND you will not get you money back if you cancel your reservations after having to go through all that....NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Its a great place if you like solitude from town. Bring food because the nearest store is miles away. I didn't mind that part. What I did mind is some clown pulled the fire alarm at 4am and no one was at the front desk to have someone turn it off.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great room, plenty of space"
The room was great, very clean (if a bit dated decor). The kitchen was well outfitted, nice pool nearby. About a 30 minute drive into Durango, only 2-3 minutes to the ski hill. We checked in late, but the key was waiting there for us, no issues.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great hotel for the family."
Our hotel experience was great. There was a kitchen with refrigerator, stove top and microwave, fireplace with plenty of wood and long jacuzzi bathtub. The scenery was beautiful from our sliding doors with a snow covered mountain in the background. Parking was in a garage under the condos. There was a heated pool, sauna, hot tub indoors as well as […] a play room and ski rental shop and shuttle to ski lift. We were there for Christmas and got lots of snow. The county kept the highway (550N) clear everyday which was a blessing because we did not have a 4 wheel drive vehicle and the elevation was about 9000 ft. However, my husband suggested we get a 4 wheel drive on our next visit. We drove to four corners which is the area where 4 states meet, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah. The park was closed on Christmas Day so we drove to each corner ourselves and took pictures. We rode the Durango-Silverton train which was beautiful ride. We got to meet the owner and he said to tell you,"You need to take a ride" to continue preserving the old steam engine train. The town was quaint and friendly and there was no thought of theft or harm in that little town. A great little place to go. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We arrived at property around six pm, which was considered a late check-in. Our keys were in a drop box for us. We found the condo with much difficulty as there was no map of property. The condo was split level with bedroom up 30 steps with no handrail. I was injured mountain biking and could not climb stairs. There was only one bathroom-downstairs. […] There was no a/c, and no windows in master bedroom, also no fan. There was no one available to change our room for us to accommodate my injury. "Kathy made all the difference!"
After checking with DMR, I was told to check in at Cascade Village itself. This resort is managed by more than one entity, and that can be confusing. However, Kathy, the desk clerk at Cascade Village, bent over backwards to be helpful. We only stayed one night, wish it could have been more, and will definitely come back again. In all honesty this is the first review i have written for any hotel. I was completely pleased with my beautiful stay at the Cascade Village. "Nice hotel. Poor management."
12/27/14 Daniil13 Houston, Texas
First night. After a terrible flight, we get to the hotel. Neither us or other people could get into the parking lot. The road froze and the management does not have salt or sand for the road. It took us about 2 hours trying to get into the parking lot since the hotel is situated on the hill. We finally decided to leave the car in the middle of front enterance. The room was nice. Nothing appeared to be broken but the bed is awful. It was not only comfortable but made me itch, since the material is pretty cheap. The toilet was not clean. The pool area is nice and the hotel is situated in a nice area, which is perfect for relaxation. I read in other reviews that customers were not happy that maid service never came. This hotel has maid services only once a week. Upon our arrival we were told that maid will come on Friday. Unfortunately, that never happened. We called the front desk but received no answer. Soap, shampoo, etc. could be found at the front desk. The guy at the front desk was nice and polite. I believe the owner does not want to spent money on maintenance.my advise would be to park in the parking lot above not below. If you park in the lower section you will never be able to come out in the morning and you will have to wait until the ice melts. The hotel has a gym, big pool, game room. The hotel has no restaurants, therefore; reserve a table in the restaurant next door is a must! Unless you wanna eat fast food all week. That's about it. Nice hotel , but poor management.
"Nice, cozy room but limited service"
11/27/14 bigboy61455 xxx
Good: - nice, cozy apartment type/timeshare room. I guess they are renting in offseason and when owners are not present. Really feel like home with kitchen, fancy bathroom with jet ski. Our room was well maintained and no issue with smell or other problems TA reviewers mentioned. - It is about 25 miles north of downtown Durango, so definitely need a car. But it is very quiet and neear ski resort. - Amazing offseason price, but nothing much you can do in southern Colorado this time; apart from visiting Durango, only functioning town there and may be drive on "million dollar highway." Ok/be careful - reception/lobby closed at 6PM on offseason. They left keys in a box in front. So try to be there early, again visitors might be in trouble if we stop by too early and rooms might not be ready. - nothing to eat nearby, due to location. - swimming pool is closed which is understandable as they are doing maintenance in offseason but why jaccuzi outside as described in their photes are also unavailable? Otherwise, no amenities in offseason.
"Good for off season price but..."
10/03/14 Brad B Coralville, Iowa
We stayed here for a week in late September. Our experience was just fine but I would be very careful booking in the future. We stayed for 6 nights in an efficiency...what amounts to a condo. The price was amazing for off season...I would never stay here for what they charge during peak season. Good: The bathroom was plenty spacious and the kitchen was great minus a dishwasher. All the appliances worked as expected. There was a small sofa as the only seating so was added out camp chairs for the week. Nice balcony to enjoy morning coffee. Covered parking. Price. Bad: Inadequate lighting. This place had the lowest rated light bulbs made. There is no elevator and nothing is on ground lever. Overall, this place is old, outdated and badly in need of a facelift. Good/Bad: Good for us...this place is about 25 miles outside of Durango.
""Two Nights in Purgatory - aka Cascade Village" (Unit #47)"
09/01/14 Nancy H Scottsdale, Arizona
This was promoted as "one of the nicest units" when we booked it directly with Cascade Village, and while it is large and well laid out - that statement is quite a stretch, and I don't want to see the "not-so-nice" units based on that statement. It has two floors, kitchen, living room and dining room, bedroom and bath downstairs. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms upstairs with a sitting area that has a pull-out couch. The kids loved the bunk beds in one of the second floor bedrooms. There are TVs in all areas except the downstairs bedroom. It is nicely appointed. The storage space (drawers, closets)is more than ample. The kitchen is well stocked and we even found some board games that the owners had left for guests. Nice touch! However, certain areas are showing considerable wear and need to be tended to. The carpets need a good cleaning and that made me a tad uncomfortable. The area rugs need scrubbing or laundering as they are badly stained. Upon checking in we were told there was a staffing problem and there was only one cleaning person available, but that the unit was being serviced. We used the time to take the kids to Durango Mountain so they could ride the mountain slide, etc. After several hours we went back to Cascade Village to discover the cleaning process had not been done. There was still food on the dining room carpet, etc. We found a vacuum and did the carpets ourselves. We also found a sign indicating that one of the bathrooms was "out of order". This should have been our RED FLAG! Only one of the toilets was functioning and that was corrected the next day. However, this was a big inconvenience, as we had a sick child that night needing the additional bathroom! Even more alarming was the fact that we didn't feel safe using one of the upstairs showers. It was obvious that there was a major water leak in the unit. We could hear water running down the inside of the wall into the downstairs bathroom - like a waterfall! The kids were afraid to use that bathroom at all. The ceiling in the downstairs bathroom was already damp and bowed from the problem. My son took a photo on his phone and showed it to the front desk staff. They had no authority, of course, and no apparent interest in taking any action at that point. The "Manager" is not even on site, folks. She does her "managing" from her office in Durango - help me! We were given her business card, but had no hope of hearing from her. We were only there for two nights, but it certainly was a taste of "Purgatory". We assured correctly, we didn't hear from the Manager. After numerous attempts at contacting her (Vicki Alper) in her Durango office, my son finally received a response and was able to fully explain our experience and displeasure with Cascade Village. Apparently, there is a lack of communication between the Staff at Cascade Village and the Management Company in Durango because she had to investigate the situation - there were no notes, reports, etc. from the Front Desk Staff - surprise! It took a couple of weeks, but an apology and an appeasement was forthcoming from the Management Company. These are individually owned units and I hope the owners were not faced with the waterfall (or a collapsed ceiling) in the bathroom when they were reportedly using their unit later in August. Based on this experience, would I chance another stay? That's a definite NO!
"Presidents Day ski trip. Awesome"
02/19/14 LJH6 Owasso, Oklahoma
We rented the 3 bedroom, 3 bath Cascade Condo over Presidents day weekend. I had researched the property on TripAdvisor and had seen the previous complaints about towels & toilet paper. We did bring our own Toilet paper just to avoid running out :) . There is a washer & dryer in the unit, so I did wash some towels. On the 2nd day I put the "needs service" sign on the door (bottom of stairs) and they did bring us new towels and took out the trash. Overall , we LOVED it. This is not a "hotel" so you should expect to be some what self reliant. The property was beautiful, our condo had newer carpet and was very nicely furnished. Wood burning fireplace, with tons of wood on hand. Parking is under the building, just outside your door. They kept the snow removed and driving was not an issue. It is very close to Purgatory, just a quick drive to the ski resort. I dropped off my snow boarders and went back and forth between the condo. No big deal. We preferred the quiet of the property compared to the congestion at Purgatory. The kids enjoyed the indoor pool and outdoor hot tubs. We cooked dinner every night, the kitchen was very well stocked. We bought groceries at Walmart in Durango -before we headed up the mountain. There is also a Ski rental onsite at Cascade, we forgot helmets - so we rented from them. Cheaper than at Purgatory. We would stay here again.
"Too much money for so little!!!"
12/29/13 Scott D New Braunfels
The accommodations were not nearly good enough for the money. The condo was big enough for two families of five, however, we didn't get any room service for the five days we stayed. We had to go find and/or buy our own toilet paper, paper towels, dish washer soap, washer soap, bathroom towels, etc. We didn't see a cleaning crew until the day we were leaving. There was no wifi connection in our place even though the website said otherwise. THE BEDS WERE THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN. Slept an average of about 5 hours a night, on and off! Slept better on the floor! For the money, we deserved better sleeping arrangements. Overall, VERY disappointed with the stay.
"Great place to stay"
08/09/13 AAM246 Houston, Texas
We booked online and had a great stay. We were able to check in onsite and had no problems. The rooms did not have AC but with the fans it was very comfortable. Our condo was very nicely furnished and clean. It was the perfect distance in between Durango and Silverton. I would definitely stay here again.
"Great get away"
Our studio loft was in pretty good shape, could use a good deep-cleaning and a new fold out couch, but was satisfactory. We had ample room, and knew going into the deal that there wasn't an AC, so that wasn't an issue. It was cool enough during the day and very cool at night so the floor fan and ceiling fan did a great job cooling it down. The value was right and accommodations were good. Would stay here again anytime!
"Worked for us"
08/01/13 Rahrlebob Jonesboro, Arkansas
Our unit was clean and comfortable. While ours had no significant view, the location (between Durango and Silverton) is beautiful. Service here was just fine. The downsides that we knew about were that there is no AC and it is 30 minutes from Durango. The prices scared us away from nearby restaurants. We wanted to use the washing machine, but it did not work. Other than that, we enjoyed our four night stay
"Check in at Durango Mountain Resort-Purgatory!!!"
06/29/13 Becky H Wichita, Kansas
Our 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo was beautiful. Nice assortment of kitchen utensils except only 2 water glasses and one towel and one pot holder. Next time in stay in condos and suites I'll bring along some disposable cups...seemed to be a problem everywhere we stayed. Beautiful setting and easy 35 min. drive from Durango. As noted it is not air conditioned, but once we got the windows open and fans started it was very comfortable with 85 degree day. Room for a family of 6-7. They definitely need to tell their patrons to check in at Purgatory back down the mountain 2 miles, there was no check in on this condo sight, you can also use the facilities at Purgatory.....if you want to drive 2 miles.......big inconvenience if you need anything from the office!!!!
