An all work no play 3 day stay in Penang. No hassle covered parking. Food mediocre but OK. Beautiful window view of east straight of Malaca and mainland beyond. Tourist area a bit pricey on the 2 block walk to the 5 star E&O hotel meeting center. The Cititel was very clean, adequately appointed, and an easy troublefree visit. Plumbing and A/C worked well.

The hotel staff are very friendly and the hotel itself is beautifully detailed and finished, but the superior room was dark and claustrophobic. The two small windows were sealed and shuttered- a rather unsuccessful attempt to keep out the long, blaring 5am wake up call from the mosque next door (Apart from turning down the volume a notch, wish the muezzin would at least learn proper Arabic - he butchered the call to prayer). The noise-related issues are a shame really, as the small hotel is otherwise an oasis of calm. No TV (good), safe or fridge (bad) in the room, leave your shoes downstairs. The breakfast is very good, hope they keep it up. The location is central and convenient for all historic sites. It seems Cintra lane is located in the heart of a tranny red light district, though the area feels perfectly safe and harmless at night. Found plenty of good food options within walking distance.

For the price we paid, we can't expect too much but it was a decent budget hotel. Great location, located at the start of Batu Ferringhi night market, and close to the beach. Cleanliness and comfort of the room can do better, but overall, it was an enjoyable stay :)

The bed was terrible. Could feel every single spring. Had to use the blanket as a "mattress topper" to sleep. The room size was very big, free water, fan and AC, bathroom fine. Have to cross a very pedestrian un-friendly road to get to the beach, but it was very close. There are really nice hawker type food places nearby. EQ provided a clean and well serviced place to stay. For the price it is really value for the money spent. Stall were friendly and advised on any matters of local interest. It is a shame that the much heralded beach of Batu Ferringhi iscontrolled by a few paragliding boats and jetskiis.Swimming (if you want to risk it) is in small roped off areas extending […] about 30metres out from the shore. check the water as it is always dirty and covered in a scum. I assume it comes from the open drains of the township as the stream in the middle of the town runs into the sea there. Be prepared for an early wake up call via loudspeakers playing some full volume chanting to muslims .....I suppose others are expected to tolerate it! I would stay in the hotel again but will not return there unless the place is made more attractive for the traveller. Read more

EQ låg riktigt bra till! Nära stranden, nära flera bra indiska och malayiska resturanger samt mcdonalds, bensinstation, 7eleven och apotek. Stranden var mindre än 5 min promenad bort och bankomat fanns på bensinstationen. Nattmarknaden var helt ok och låg runt hörnet. Busshållplatsen runt hörnet tog dig från Batu Fereinghi till Georgetown och Komptar […] på mindre än en timme för ca 8 kronor. Åt andra hållet kunde man nå national parl och spicegarden på mindre än 15 min. Läget var alltså kanon! Hotellet i sig var rent och fräscht och rummen var helt okey. Wifi fungerade bara i lobbyn vilket var ett minus. Luftkonditionering och trevlig personal. EQ gav riktigt mycket för den billiga prislappen! Read more

The hotel location is just 5minutes walk to the beach, and bus stop for the bus to Georgetown and airport is nearby. The hotel provides large bath towel and bottle water.
