We chose this hotel over others for the bathtub (I have a small daughter). But there wasn't one in our room. Otherwise, the hotel and room were nice. They came into our room multiple times a day to clean. The variety of the food available at the breakfast buffet made up for the lack in quality of the food. Also, people smoke everywhere - including breakfast. The smoke really bothered me since you have to go to the smoker filled lobby to use the wifi (wired internet does exist in rooms).

Overall we were very impressed with the Gloria Resort in Sanya. Not quite up to the 5 Star standard it claims, but a good 4 Star hotel by Western standards. The location is fantatsic - literally a two minute walk to the beautiful Yalong Bay. We had a Deluxe Ocean View room which had a superb view overlooking the sea and surrounding countryside & mountains. Hotel facilities were very good, rooms were spacious & well equipped, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The quality of food in the hotel was only reasonable, and the Japanese restaurant on the second floor was quite pricey. We availed of the barbecue buffet option a couple of nights (down by poolside), which came to approximately €18 per person - the food was only so so and the dish options limited. On balance though a very enjoyable stay, and the hotel offered good value for money relative to some of the International Resorts operating in Yalong Bay (Hilton, Sheraton etc.), most of which were almost double the price of Gloria.

One of five most important bays in Sanya in the southern province of Hainan, the history of Sanya Bay dates back 2,200 years ago. It has a 22 km beach with a warm and sunny climate year-round. In the area is Sanya City where the Chinese national beach volleyball team trains. Other attractions include a butterfly museum, a shell aquarium, and one of the tallest Buddhist statues in the world.

Appearances deceive. We went in January. The pool was freezing, no heat. Public bathrooms had sewage backup, staff were watching TV and sleeping on the lounge chairs. The room looked nice, but the bed was as stiff as a board. Staff seemed to be trained to answer "Mei you", i.e. there isn't any or we don't have it. No printer! No taxi calls. Don't know […] how to go anywhere or do anything. No nothing. Don't ask for a king bed unless you are willing to give up an outside window. Breakfast featured canned fruit on an island famous for its produce. Generally there is a total lack of intelligent management at this hotel, staff are kind but untrained, and the result is a former prime property in severe decline. Avoid. Read more

Hotellet skulle behöva renoveras. Slitet hotell med personal som inte kan ett ord engelska. Genomgående på hotellen i Kina så är det ofta städpersonal, piccolon och liknande som kan bäst engelska och är trevligast. Receptions och restaurang personal är ofta dåliga på det. 2 pooler på området. Mysiga och rena. Icke godkänd frukost, inte värd priset om […] du köper till den. Rummen var godkända men inte mycket mer. Stenhårda sängar och en AC som lät som ett flygplan på väg att lyfta. Ligger vid stranden, endast en väg emellan. Livsfarligt att passera, så va försiktiga och släpp inte iväg barnen själva över den. Privat strand säger dom att det är. men tveksamt. Fanns endast 10 solstolar och massor av folk som inte bodde på hotellet på stranden. Skönt är dock att det är väldigt begränsat med försäljare på stranden.
