"close to shops"
Rooms are small. Bedding is great. Bathrooms very small with no counter space. We arrived very hungry after 9pm on a Tuesday night and found the kitchen was closed. Hostess was not helpful in helping us find a local place to eat.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
perfectly situated, excellent service from friendly courteous staff, bright spotless room with the most comfortable beds great after long days sightseeing, excellent breakfast cooked to your own preference, felt right at home here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was comfortable. Bathroom could do with a make over and bath mat should have been thrown out! Breakfast was good and staff were very nice. Evening meal was very disappointing as the steak was burned and the chicken curry was just ok. The hotel itself is ideally located in the middle of the town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Good comfortable hotel in excellent location. Good restaurant, friendly service. Although there is no parking nearby public facilities suffice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very good value Hotel in town centre"
Enjoyed my stay and couldn't find much fault at all with the hotel and restaurant. Room was spacious with a very good bathroom and comfortable bed. Not all rooms have a view of the streetscape though, but those that do look right down the street of this pretty little town. I would have liked a fridge in the room, but there wasn't one. Staff helpful, […] and restaurant waiters efficient and polite, but I didn't find them particularly friendly. The hotel is in ideal position within the town. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent central location"
I found the welcome of the staff to be genuine and warm. The rooms have been upgraded to a very good standard and the daily tariff for bed and a good breakfast was good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Wonderful service. Great food. Convenient location. Only disadvantage was no lift although it did not bother us. It could be a problem for some people. Would definitely go back again to this hotel. It is close to the bus stop if you don't have a car. Convenient to places such as the ferry to Inishboffin island, Kylemore Abbey and Leenane.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Traditionelles Hotel in zentraler Lage"

"Friendly, Extremely Helpful and Central Location"

On arrival, we were greeted by the Proprietor, Mrs Sharon Maher who showed us two rooms to allow us choose. That is GREAT service. The room was spacious, clean and most comfortable. Whilst there is no parking facility, we did get a space in front of the hotel. As it is just off the main street, the hotel was quiet. Great breakfast, good service AND as I did not get up for breakfast, Sharon prepared a tray for my partner to take coffee and croissants back to the room. That is what I call service with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble and I wish them continued success. I would not hesitate to return. Whilst it is not 5*, our experience was.
"Clifden is a gem"

Alcock & Brown was unexpected pleasure at the end of a magnificent but long day of driving. As an airplane lover, it's nod to history was a draw but what I didn't plan on was the welcome of the staff. Ms Lopez was a particular pleasure as she offered travel tips and her own obvious delight with exploring Ireland. The room was clean and nicely decorated but the real pleasure was the art on the walls which enriched and brightened all the common areas. The hotel is perfectly located on the circle with large windows allowing a great view and lots of light. We did pay for a front room but it was worth the 10 euro for the town sites. We would book again and visit Clifden again!
"Friendly family run hotel in the heart of Clifden"

The hotel is on the town square in Clifden in walking distance for most of the towns activities. The hotel is family owned, they are there working, helping, accommodating and the rest of the staff are friendly and helpful as well. A very nice experience. The hotel has a pub and formal dinning room, outside patio and large foyer with seating and fire place. The rooms (my room) are comfortable, spacious and clean. I also had several enjoyable meals there including most of my breakfasts, and two dinners. The hotel is named for two pilots that made the first trans-Atlantic flight that landed in an area just south of Clifden. They have a wall of their pub dedicated to the event. Should I visit Clifden again I would stay there without looking for alternatives.
"Nice Hotel - but be careful when you book online !!"

Agree with other positive reviewers as to this being a nice country hotel with homely atmosphere and mostly friendly staff. Comfortable beds and very clean. However, their website when we booked resulted in a very unsatisfactory aspect to our stay - as many hotels in Ireland charge per person OR at least ask how many will be staying in the room I answered "2" to the question "Quantity". To my surprise I had booked TWO rooms. Although they had 7 rooms unsold and it would not have been a loss to them had I marked in ONE in that section the female manager or owner insisted on me paying for a second room. Very Very cheap of them I felt - with no offer either to give us a break on price or food. Having come from a Hotel owning family myself I am still in disbelief - as are my Irish friends. So am putting this online for the record. John McK, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Great hotel perfectly situated on the square, from the moment we arrived we were made feel right at home by Declan and Sharon and their wonderful friendly staff. Our bedroom was beautiful & bright the bed was the most comfortable we've ever slept in, great after long days sightseeing with lovely blackout curtains if you fancy a lie in. Breakfast was perfect with a selection of cereals and mixed fruit with all the added extras and then served your full irish cooked to your own preference which was a great plus. Lovely bar with great staff especially Patrice and Oisin. Will definitely return, thanks guys

Have been visiting Clifden for years but this was the first time I stayed in this hotel. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and quiet (although if you're looking for a view ask for a room at the front) and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is right at the centre of the town and if you're happy to stay in the hotel it has a nice little bar.

weekend stag with 36 lads not one compliant from any one. the staff were very friendly the food was top class and the rooms were clean spacious and very comfortable. I could not find anything to say bad about this hotel. if you planning a trip for a group I'd highly recommend this hotel. there were other people staying in this hotel and I believe they didn't even know there was a stag staying. well managed.
"Don't stay here. Waiting 35 mins for each course"

This hotel seem to have ticked every box for me in so many ways. I had welcoming staff that efficiently dealt with my requests. The room was crisp fresh and airy .It had been just refurbished this year so after a long journey, sleep wasn't a problem.Next morning for breakfast I was able order exactly what I wanted.Plenty offers of more coffee etc. After a lazy morning I found myself making my way from the lobby to their coffee shop and satisfied my non existing hunger pangs. The hotel is in the centre of the town and I could come and go without going near my car, what a plus. I conveniently arrived back at lunch time and had an extremely pleasant experience as although the food end of things was prompt to arrive to your table there was no time zone for one leaving the table ,very relaxed but the space and comfort in their coffee shop didn't exactly encourage one to move fast to the exits. Thankfully I wandered back for dinner also and after being given a lovely table nicely spaced from other diners, out of no place there was live entertainment .I still can't work out did the music make the food taste so good and of such high quality or did the food make the music sound so good but top marks for a family run hotel that put this kind of packet together for its customers.Like the rooms, the coffee shop and the Restaurant have been revamped very tastefully with fab colours and plenty art work to the mix. They offer an Early bird menu also.I ended up not giving my room back to them for an extra 2 nights.Never got to go near my laptop, internet or the tv in the room.Gusts staying were friendly with one another so it was easy to be solo and not have to go to your room if you chose not to .Glad to have taken the Alcock and Brown flight to this hotel. See you soon again. Thanks for my relaxed perfect stay .
"Good location. "
Nice friendly relaxed hotel. Rooms are nice. Clean and spacious. Bathroom has some nice original features. The Weather was bad the night I stayed so had dinner in hotel restaurant. Very expensive (2e for diluted orange?) for what it was and no veg with mains which is a first for me. Would stay again but eat elsewhere!
