"VERY noisy place."
Doors slamming all night and the pub on the corner offered live music that spilled out into the street. Hot stuffy room and no relief by opening windows with all that street noise going on. Not a good spot for a good night's rest.Genuine Expedia guest review
"close to shops"
Rooms are small. Bedding is great. Bathrooms very small with no counter space. We arrived very hungry after 9pm on a Tuesday night and found the kitchen was closed. Hostess was not helpful in helping us find a local place to eat.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"You have to heat your rooms!"
It was very cold on the day we stayed, and the heat would not come on in the room. We called reception and were told the heat is on a timer and, basically, to suffer through it. My wife was sick and it was distressing to see her put on multiple layers and still shiver under the blankets. Obvious hairs in bath and around commodeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
perfectly situated, excellent service from friendly courteous staff, bright spotless room with the most comfortable beds great after long days sightseeing, excellent breakfast cooked to your own preference, felt right at home here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was comfortable. Bathroom could do with a make over and bath mat should have been thrown out! Breakfast was good and staff were very nice. Evening meal was very disappointing as the steak was burned and the chicken curry was just ok. The hotel itself is ideally located in the middle of the town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent location in Clifden town square"
Hotel is in an ideal location in the centre of Clifden. The hotel dining room and reception area is beautiful but the rooms need upgrades. Very small with hard mattresses and pillows. Musty smell from carpets in the hallway. Overall. You get what you pay for. Great budget hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
Good comfortable hotel in excellent location. Good restaurant, friendly service. Although there is no parking nearby public facilities suffice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very good value Hotel in town centre"
Enjoyed my stay and couldn't find much fault at all with the hotel and restaurant. Room was spacious with a very good bathroom and comfortable bed. Not all rooms have a view of the streetscape though, but those that do look right down the street of this pretty little town. I would have liked a fridge in the room, but there wasn't one. Staff helpful, […] and restaurant waiters efficient and polite, but I didn't find them particularly friendly. The hotel is in ideal position within the town. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent central location"
I found the welcome of the staff to be genuine and warm. The rooms have been upgraded to a very good standard and the daily tariff for bed and a good breakfast was good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Wonderful service. Great food. Convenient location. Only disadvantage was no lift although it did not bother us. It could be a problem for some people. Would definitely go back again to this hotel. It is close to the bus stop if you don't have a car. Convenient to places such as the ferry to Inishboffin island, Kylemore Abbey and Leenane.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Traditionelles Hotel in zentraler Lage"

"Comfortable and friendly hotel"
02/23/15 UnlcetravellingMatt Dublin, Ireland
We stayed in this hotel for two nights on a deal we got online. The best things about this hotel was the staff and food. We got a lovely warm welcome when we arrived and every time we met a staff member over the weekend we were greeted with a friendly small and a bit of chat. The food both in the evening and in the morning was delicious. The only complaint I would have is that I would have liked to see some variation in the main dinner options between the Friday and Saturday night. Two of our party ended up having the same thing both nights as they didn't like any of the other options. The rest of us tried different meals and were very happy with what we had each time. The room we had was very clean and comfortable so overall we were very happy with this hotel and would definitely return someday!
"Homely and very impressive hotel"

Stayed in this hotel on Valentines night with my husband and 2 boys. On arrival we were met by Aideen in reception she was so friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, very comfortable and clean, with a double and 2 single beds in the room . This hotel is central to all amenities in the lovely village of Clifden.. The hotel was really homely and Sharon (whom I found out later was the proprietor) was extremely helpful and friendly she made our stay feel like " we were home away from home". We had Valentines dinner in the hotel and we were not disappointed. The food was spectacular it was like eating at a 5 star restaurant. We were delighted to get to meet the chef later in the night so we could compliment him in person. These people really went out of their way to make our stay very special. Would highly recommend this hotel and cannot wait to return. Thank you all for a memorable stay.
"2 nights in december"
12/19/14 MalaMalo Belgium
Hi ! we are 2 sisters from Belgium and we went there on December (17 to 19). It was kind of empty but awesome anyway because of the staff mostly. They were really helpful and very nice (by the way thanks to them) for any kind of informations (things to do, where to eat, where to go for music, etc etc). Also, the room was good, we slept like babies (it means really good in French) and the breakfast was good too. We recommend this Hotel and if we came back we will surely go there :) By the way, Skyroad is awesome !

We are regular visitors to Clifden as we live in Westport and love visiting Clifden and surrounding area. We decided to stay overnight and do some Christmas Shopping in the town.So glad we chose Alcock and Brown Hotel! We had a lovely warm welcome, very comfortable room, lovely dinner and great Irish breakfast in the morning. The staff were excellent. So friendly, warm and informative. The whole town was lit by candlelight that evening , making it feel very Christmasy. The atmosphere in the town was lovely and every one we met were so friendly. We are already looking in our diaries for a date to return! Thank you for a lovely stay.

We normally stay next door at Foyles but although we had try to book 3 months in advance it was full so we had booked two rooms for 4 people but with no elevator it was difficult for us to lug our luggage up & down the stairs .... fortunately a helpful young man assisted us.... although recently renovated the rooms we thought were mediocre. Clifden always seems to be buzzing so hotel rooms are not always available easily. Breakfast was good & freshly cooked. Staff were friendly & helpful.
"Comfy hotel in a great village"

Clifden is one of my favourite spots in the whole of Ireland and Alcock & Brown Hotel is somewhere we have stayed on a number of occassions, the hotel itself is clean and basic, rooms are comfortable, there is a decent bar and the best part for me is always the breakfast which is one of the best in Ireland I have had. Staff are extremely accommodating, informative and helpful also. A hotel that wont disappoint and places you in one of the best places to visit in the whole of Ireland...whats not to like

The hotel is comfortable and clean and situated right in the centre of Clifden.Plenty of information on the adventurers Alcock and Brown to be had. No problem in recommending this hotel.

very old fashioned hotel in decor ,television way too small for hotel room ,no parking for customers had to park on street feeding the parking metre ,one power point in bedroom and that was behind a large unit , lay out for breakfast very poorly done compared to other hotels we have stayed in '. also had a voucher i got on line and was one main course dinner with it was told we had to pay for starter which was not perfect .also noticed other people ordering same fish and chips main course were giving two pieces of fish and lots of chips so when ours came we got one small piece of fish and not a lot of chips more batter than fish so we felt this was due to fact we bought the voucher on line and were not paying cash for dinner not impressed at all will not be going back their again . but loved galway .
"Nice, friendly hotel"

Had a lovely stay in the Alcock & Brown in Clifden during September Arts Week. Our room was overlooking the town square, spacious, well furnished and great for people watching. The hotel has been beautifully refurbished since we were last there. The restaurant and coffee areas are well laid out and the seating area in the large foyer is so comfortable, a joy to relax in. There is also a nice wee pub in the back. The hotel is run by a lovely family who, along with their staff, were so friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Thank you Sharon, Declan and all. The full Irish breakfasts were brilliant and kept us going till dinner in the Galleries Restaurant - really good food at a reasonable price. Couldn't fault the place and we will definitely stay here next time we are in Clifden. Bill G
