"close to shops"
Rooms are small. Bedding is great. Bathrooms very small with no counter space. We arrived very hungry after 9pm on a Tuesday night and found the kitchen was closed. Hostess was not helpful in helping us find a local place to eat.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Good comfortable hotel in excellent location. Good restaurant, friendly service. Although there is no parking nearby public facilities suffice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
All stars, excellent stay. A lovely hotel with central location and wonderful friendly staff, thank you for a great holiday.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good value Hotel in town centre"
Enjoyed my stay and couldn't find much fault at all with the hotel and restaurant. Room was spacious with a very good bathroom and comfortable bed. Not all rooms have a view of the streetscape though, but those that do look right down the street of this pretty little town. I would have liked a fridge in the room, but there wasn't one. Staff helpful, […] and restaurant waiters efficient and polite, but I didn't find them particularly friendly. The hotel is in ideal position within the town. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent central location"
I found the welcome of the staff to be genuine and warm. The rooms have been upgraded to a very good standard and the daily tariff for bed and a good breakfast was good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Wonderful service. Great food. Convenient location. Only disadvantage was no lift although it did not bother us. It could be a problem for some people. Would definitely go back again to this hotel. It is close to the bus stop if you don't have a car. Convenient to places such as the ferry to Inishboffin island, Kylemore Abbey and Leenane.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Traditionelles Hotel in zentraler Lage"
I have just returned from an overnight stay here, I can not praise the hotel and staff enough. From the moment we checked in we were greeted with a wonderful friendly welcome from the receptionist/manager. Throughout our stay the staff were so nice and could not do enough for you. We had a fabulous dinner in the Restaurant, there was music playing as we dined which added to the atmosphere. After dinner we had a lovely Irish Coffee & Bailey's Coffee, perfect to round off the evening, thank you... The room we had was spacious with a double bed and a single bed. The room was nicely decorated and very clean. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was very tasty and set us up for the day. Again service was excellent. Overall this is a lovely family run hotel located in the heart of Clifden, I will definitely be returning..
"Great little hotel"

I stayed here overnight while on business in the area.I really enjoyed the stay.Hotel is in a good location at the top of the town. All staff were very friendly and helpful;genuinely wanting you to enjoy your stay and your time in the area.Although I imagine this is an old hotel, the room was great and it was very clean. The breakfast was very good. The cooked breakfast was cooked to order, not the usual overcooked buffet fare on offer in most hotels.Hotel is very close to all the pubs and restaurants in the town, and the town was bustling with visitors the night I was there.Would definitely recommend and I look forward to visiting this hotel again in the future.

I have stayed here, however I always have my coffee here together with a sweet treat. This time I also had lunch, being the chowder and it was great, while last year (2013) I had dinner as well also good. I must say that on each occasion I have been warmly greeted and the service was exceptional. There were quite a few in the restaurant. Since 2013 the room has been re-organised and split into two. A much better cosy feeling. If you are looking for a good coffee this is the place as I have tried others and to date no one compares. The location is good, being at the top of the town and also has a nice little outdoor area for those summer days.. Do try it..

This hotel is in a great location in Cliften. The staff are very welcoming & friendly. The hotel itself is very basic & the bedrooms are dated but clean & serve their purpose. We ate in the restaurant in the hotel as part of a group. The food was good but the service was terrible & so slow. Some in our group had their main course finished by the time we were served. I would wait here again but maybe eat somewhere else. The service needs to speed up.
The hotel is fine for a short stay or if you plan on moving around. The room was basic enough. There was nobody in the restaurant or bar. I wondered how they manage to stay open. I had no complaints but wouldn't stay if you like your hotel atmosphere. However clifden is hopping and this hotel stands at the top of the town so it's location is perfect.
"What a place!!!"

My self and my family stayed in this great family run hotel for 3 nights. We were very presently surprised with warm welcome , great food and lovely new rooms(which had wifi!!). Great breakfast every morning served by young friendly staff who were very helpful in helping us plan our days. Ate in the restaurant 2 nights and it was brilliant, it was great value and loved the live music. We will be back.
"Superb long weekend at the Alcock & Brown"

Had 3 fab nights here in July - 4 travellers; 3 of us had never been to Ireland before. Hotel staff extremely friendly & very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were very clean & tidy. Hotel was full but surprisingly quiet :-) Lovely full Irish breakfast served every morning with fresh coffee plus cereals & pastries. Would definitely stay here again & would recommend the Alcock & Brown to anyone wanting a great place to stay in Clifden. Can't wait to go back :-D
"Lovely hotel and friendly helpful staff"
We stayed here for a hen party on a Saturday...there were over 20 of us and they could not have been more helpful. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was lovely. Rooms were perfect - very clean and beds were comfy. We were a bit of a wild bunch but they made us feel very welcome and were so helpful throughout the whole stay! I would definitely recommend clifden and this hotel for a hen party we had the best craic and was certainly a weekend to remember!
"Average hotel in excellent location"

Hotel is alright, and a good enough for a night. We were at the back of the hotel beside an air con vent which made a continuous hum. Room and corridor smelt a little musty. No wifi in rooms. Get a room at the front for the view. Tea and coffee making facilities - but an extension lead would have been good as the kettle lead is very short and a tight stretch to the only 2 sockets in the room. Small bathroom & shower but plenty of hot water. The hotel is dated but the location is perfect - right in the middle of Clifden. It does need a bit more TLC however, slight rust stains on shower wall from bathroom fittings, rough woodwork around bathroom doors etc - it seems well cleaned but these small things give an impression that it could be maintained better. Check out is 11am and the on street parting at the side of the hotel was free until 11am. Full Irish Breakfast was very nice.
"Felt very welcome"

We dropped in with our 10 year old and our parents for a quiet drink and to listen to some live music. Although the place was quiet (it was only 8pm) we really enjoyed ourselves. The music (duo) was perfect (mix of Irish and soft country) and the staff were very friendly. It is a large venue so when it gets busy I would imagine it really pumps - very much recommended:)
