A charming hotel - incredibly clean, even for a four stars hotel and beautifully decorated for the holiday season. The owners extremely helpful and warm, ready to assist with everything the guests may need. Excellent breakfast and a great location! 5 minutes to the subway station, line U1 that gets you to the heart of Vienna and 5 minutes, walking distance, to one of the largest mall in town. Peaceful, clean, beautiful, in one word - perfect!
"Excellent hotel, a little out of the way"

Terrific hotel a little out of downtown on the U1 line. Very nice staff. Rooms are great in almost all ways - size, clean, mostly modern..... 5 minute walk to U1 station. Not much around in terms of restaurants.

Clean and peaceful hotel. Take family room that is of normal size. 5 min walk to subway station, 10 min by subway to the center. Donaucenter - the biggest shopping mall in Vienna is at walking distance (mind everything is closed on Sundays). Do not worry the hotel is on bug street. It is calm.
"Clean, Warm and Family Hotel"

The hotel operates as a family business. The lady owner was very friendly and nice. Location of the hotel is next to the Danube river, good for early morning jogs and there are restaurants along the river for some food or drinks. It's also near to U-Bahn station - Ate Donau (U1 line) and within walking distance to the shopping mall - Donau Central at the next U-Bahn station - Kragan. Billa is located next to the hotel where you could buy some grocery stuff. I stay on the second floor with a good facing to the river and fantastic sunset scene from the room. One of the shortfall is that there's no lift in the hotel so people with large luggage bags will have to struggle with the stairs. Selection for the breakfast is also limited but the food is definitely very fresh.
"Just what I needed and more than I expected"

This hotel was among those recommended by an administrative assistant at the United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV). Strandhotel Alte Donau is convenient to the Old Danube, which in modern times is a nice, clean lake popular for swimming and sailing. It is also in-between UNOV and Donau Central, Vienna’s largest shopping center. These are walking distance, or one stop away on the U1 line if you prefer. The U1 line will also take you straight to the old city center. As a matter of respect for others in Japan still in temporary housing since the 11 March 2011 tsunami, I insisted on reserving a basic room, even though larger rooms were offered. Perhaps for this reason, Mr. Partik made a point of showing several of the basic rooms, allowing me to choose the one I liked best. His recommendation matched my sense of functionality and aesthetics, but in fact any of the rooms would have served me well. Over 10 days, mostly for an academic conference but with some time for recreation, Strandhotel Alte Donau exceeded my expectations. I would gladly stay here again and again. The breakfast room is bright and cheerful. One morning I wanted to eat in the adjoining garden. The wooden tables and chairs in the garden would have been fine as-is, but Mrs. Partik added table linen and a seat cushion for a touch of outdoor elegance. Breakfast was always pleasant, with enough variety to be enjoyable every morning. The Billa grocery store next door was good for beer, wine, snack items, and even light meals. What Billa didn’t have, Donau Central did. In fact, thanks to Donau Central, there was no need for me to patronize the usual souvenir shops. Travelers are often encouraged to stay near one or another major tourist attraction. So be it, but public transportation in Vienna is excellent and inexpensive. As a middle-aged academician, I enjoy visiting places people visit, but living where people live. Strandhotel Alte Donau is perfectly located for my purposes. The Old Danube is a place where Viennese families live and play. It was a privilege to be among them, walking about as my schedule allowed.

I stayed at this family run hotel and it was indeed a pleasure. The owners were very attentive and helpful. The U-Bahn is walking distance and so is the mall. There is also a grocery right next door from the hotel. Across from the hotel would also be a place where there are a couple of restaurants by the Danube river. One that I particularly enjoyed was the spare ribs at the Strand Cafe (I believe, it has a couple of reviews here in Tripadvisor as well). Breakfast was basic but prepared fresh daily. All in all, my stay at the Strandhotel was very pleasant and comfortable.

This hotel is very good and located very close to Vienna International Center. It also have a good airport transportation and very friendly staff. It is so green around, river and jogging places for people. very nice. I would really recommend it. Enjoy your stay.

My husband was recently working in Vienna and I was lucky enough to have some time off so I could join him for a few days. This is the hotel he was booked into so not not one chosen by us, however I don't think we could of chosen any better! Though my husband has been to Vienna before this was my first visit and the staff were so friendly and helpful. My husband had previously stayed in a different hotel and though it had more facilities he said he muched preferred the Strandhotel. The room, as well as the rest of the hotel, was clean, bright and fresh. It was spacious and comfortable. There was plenty to do in the local area with plenty of restaurants and shopping but is only a short journey to the centre of Vienna which I have to say is beautiful and well worth a visit. I have fell in love with the city and this hotel certainly helped! Thank you
"Nice and friendly welcoming - very rare in Vienna !"

I went three times in Vienna, and in three different hotels. The Strandhotel Alte Donau is really the place I preferred. The personnel, as well as the owners, are friendly, helpful. And what about the rooms ! They are gorgeous, neat, trendy, modern, decorated in a truly European style. The beautiful hotel room I stayed in.
"Nice place to stay"

This hotel was nice and average, but since the breakfast came with my room I liked it just a bit more. The staff was wonderful too. It is situated just across the street from a river and is maybe 6-7 tram stops to the center of the city. The rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable. I would stay here again.
