The hotel is a few steps away from a subway station on the east-west line and, just north of Gion with a very beautiful street during cherry blossom time. You get what you paid for. Hotel is a little bit outdated. At least it is closed by the subway and bus station. There's lots of restaurants and shopping you can do about 7 min walk away. Gion is within walking distance, but if you have a bus pass, I would just use it.

What I liked: - The location may not be the best in Kyoto, but the hotel is next to a metro station (Sanjo Keihan) and you can eventually walk to Gion (a 10 to 15 minute walk). Taking the train, it's 10 or 15 minute away from Kyoto station, with one train change; - The internet didn't work in the room during my first day, but the staff repaired the […] router and it began working well. There was a more strong wifi signal on the second floor, where you can find a lounge with sofas, massage chair, vending machine etc; - There's a laundry machine and dryer. You can use wash your clothes for a couple hundred yen there. What I didn't like: - The bathroom is even smaller than the standard small Japan business hotel bathroom. The smallest I've ever seen. - Since I had to work with the computer, I had to improvise a chair. There was a table, but only a low armchair which was not very comfortable. - I couldn't adjust the air conditioner or heater, since the button seemed to be broken. It was cold in Kyoto and the temperature inside the room was warm and ok to sleep, but it could be a problem in hot months. Read more

Hotel was a quick walk to shops and Restaurants. We got 2 rooms, a western style room on the 6th floor and a japanese style room on the 2nd floor. The room on the 6th floor was not so clean and had a wierd smell but eh japanese style room on the 2nd floor was really clean and smelled really nice. This a simple Japanese business-style hotel, a little dated, but in a great location for exploring the neighborhoods of Higashiyama with it's many temples and shrines (east of hotel) and Gion with it's historic and quaint streets (3 blocks south). This was an affordable choice compared with other high-priced Kyoto hotels. The rooms were typical of Japan...small, but clean and quiet. There is a fairly-priced clothes washer and dryer on the premises (a big plus), as well as a room with massage chairs, free wi-fi and internet connections, beer in the vending machine in the lobby, and a small restaurant with a small affordable Japanese-style breakfast buffet. The staff speaks only a little English (we speak little Japanese), but we were able to check in and out and get a few questions answered without trouble. They were friendly and tried to be helpful. Nice staff and good location. The room was also a good size for Japan however the main issue was the drabness or the room and above all it was meant to be a nonsmoking room but clearly smelt of stale smoke with the hotel trying to cover it up with some awful air fresher. It was a shame because it makes the room instantly inlivable to a nonsmoker.

The Koto is great. Yes, the room's small, but this is Japan! It's clean, it's incredibly well-located, right on the very confusing Kyoto subway and close to a really nice part of town. The people will do all they can to help you, but their English is - well - almost non-existent. Best of all is the price. You will not find better value anywhere.

Koto Hotel is very well located. Staff don't speak very well english (like most of Japanese) but is very helpful and there's no problem when you ask about location. Enough to help you find something on the map. They also have guide books in a different languages in reception, good internet connection and launderette. 立地に優れ、併設のバールも安くておいしい、いいホテルです。ただ、ホテルが全面禁煙ではなかったように思いました。ベットの臭いと、ベットわきのないとテーブルに、「『寝たばこ』はおやめ下さい」とあったので。全面禁煙で、部屋のタバコのちょっとしたにおいさえなければ、周囲に京町屋が保存されているところがあったり、平安神宮、聖護院、京都大学などがあって、おススメできるホテルです。朝食もリーズナブル（４５０円で食べ放題。もちろん、食べれるものは限定されていますが）で、可能な限りリピートしたいと思いました。それゆえ、重ね重ね、たばこのにおいが残念です。

地下鉄、京阪の駅に近く、バスも便利。観光スポットが徒歩20分内に多数あります。レセプションの対応も的確です。難点は、朝食の場所の雰囲気が味気なく、そっけない感じ。設計やインテリアの問題です。あれでは昔の学食ですね。

I stayed with two other friends ar SakuraAn. It was a bit confusing between SakuraAn and Koto hotel. Anyway, the stay was pleasant. We are all very happy. The mark is deduct for "no wifi service/ Lan internet" in rooms. Wifi is only available on 1/F & 2/F, however our room was located on 3/F. Do not expect spacious room. The bed and linen are clean. […] LCD TV with all chanels in Japanese is expected. There is no free bike rental service, but bike rental shop is very close near street corner (Near BOOKOFF shop, It was 1000yen for whole day up to 6pm). Credit to helpful staff. 三回目の利用です。名前が変わって改装も少々したようですが、個人的な評価は下がり気味。設備の老朽化は徐々に厳しいレベルになりつつあります。あとフロントのサービスレベルも厳しいものがあります。ここの良さはやはり立地。中心部で夜を楽しみ、翌朝の散歩が最高です。あと銭湯が近所に二軒あるのもいいです。マッサージ機が無料で利用できるのもプラスポイント。お値打ち時期であればまた利用するかもしれません。

교통: 산조, 산조케이한 역에서 도보3분~5분거리. 시조역 도보10분거리. 헤이안신궁, 료안지도 각각 걸어서 10분. 헤이안신궁 옆 미술관,산업센터 등도 산책거리에 있어 편리함. 산조역옆으로 강변을 따른 산책로 좋음. 번화가인 산조-시조-기온과 약간 떨어져있어 조용하고, 걸어서 10분 이내이므로 쇼핑등에도 편리함. 호텔은 고풍스러워 교토분위기를 잘 느낄수 있음. 룸 열쇠 받아보면 알 수 있음. 조식은 다소 빈약함. 바로 옆에 편의점 있으나 신용카드이용안됨. 신용카드 이용시 가까운 편의점은 도보5분 산조역 근처. 체크인 2시로 편리함. 할인40%받고 숙박했으므로 가격대비 만족함.

非常近電車站，門口直行十五分鐘左右就到祗園，八坂神社，花見小路，夜晚行夜市幾方便，酒店行二十五分鐘左右又到平安神宮，知恩院，都算多景點，但住了三天持續這樣行，行到腳很痛，若果本身有車票pass搭車應該舒服好多！房間有free wifi, 房內細細的但很別緻舒適，第一次住酒店每次出入都要交key給櫃面，開初有點懷疑，但他們的服務態度很好，都很安心，唯一要說就是房價較貴，附近食店少！要讚嘆的是二樓有六張按摩椅好新淨，免費用！正！！！

Les chambres sont vieillottes et décorées style "années 70" mais confortables et l'hôtel fournit gratuitement des vélos, ce qui est une manière très pratique d'explorer Kyoto. もともとの東山三条ホテルを改名しただけで、モダンな新しい写真のような部屋はダブルの利用者用など一部だけのようです。 トリプルで取った部屋はむしろ古いビジネスホテルで、それなら他にもっと安く、広い部屋があるホテルがたくさんあったと、がっかりでした。泊るだけの人には立地はいいので、選択肢の一つにはなりますが。
