I had a great time in Mérida, in large part thanks to Misión de Fray Diego Hotel. The hotel is in a beautiful colonial building with lots of architectural details, in contrast with the decor of the rooms, which was understated, befitting the the original purpose of the building (a monastery?). The room was decent in size. I found the bathroom a little bit uncomfortable as there was no counter space at all, so I had to put my toiletries on the sink, or on the floor, or on the toilet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, except that, for my taste, the chef was a little bit on the generous side with the salt. The hotel is 2 blocks from the main square on a not-very-well-lit street. However, I soon found Mérida is a very safe city.

Hotel Caribe gets an "A" for atmosphere. Our room and bathroom were tiny. Bed was OK. Our room was on the end on the top floor. The view was spectacular, the tiny pool unswimmable, but it was very pleasant on the patio. The patio furniture needed a good cleaning or replacement. Although there was no elevator, a staff member was available to carry bags upstairs. We did not eat at the hotel, but we heard that the food had improved recently.

Perfect for anyone needing to fly into or out of the airport at Merida. Clean, friendly and perfect location. English spoken at desk. Once your past the desk your in a different world. Quiet, peaceful and clean. If you eat at the resturant,Walker order off the menu. Better than the buffet.

Was OK, but will not stay there again. Asked twice for help with the in room safe and no one ever showed. They have NO wash cloths or hand towels in the bath -- but the hot water is plentiful -- in fact even if you turn on the cold you get hot. Located on a major road - noisy and no place to take a walk.

I love hotels like this just as I loved waking up each morning to the other guests eating brekfast on the terrace. Beds are typical of non-high end ones... in Mexico, which is to say not of the greatest comfort, but I could deal. Internet was also spotty, but I could deal with that too. Hotel staff was very nice and helpfull. The location was outstanding, a block from the city plaza. Very safe neighborhood. The hotel had a lot of charm. For the price you cant beat it. I had a private bathroom, there was a pool, and wifi. The only downside was my bed was as probably as old as the hotel. It was fine for me though.

We probably had the best room of the house (for us), the one with the little balcony you see in the picture, overlooking a busy but interesting intersection. When you shut the windows and balcony door and turn on the A/C it is very quite, or you open everything, turn on the ceiling fan and enjoy the interesting sounds of the town. The hotel's courtyard/ access to the rooms is breathtakingly beautiful. We didn't have breakfast (coffee, bread, butter and marmelade) there but it is an incredible setting! We even enjoyed the small (but deep!) pool all by ourselves off in a different courtyard - with refreshing salt water. The staff was very friendly. Service was great, everything was very clean. We were at the City of Merida for a week, during that time the Hotel was the best option for us due is close to the downtown and other attractions. What I most liked was that only international travelers were staying on the Hotel, which means in my opinion that was a good spot. Very recommended.

Men rommet var rent, og da air condition-anlegget ikke virket på et av rommene vi hadde fått, fikk vi et annet uten diskusjon. Hotellet ligger midt i Merida, på en travel gate et par minutters gange fra torget - midt i smørøyet, altså. Det er svømmebasseng på hotellet, […] og selv om vi ikke brukte det, så det rent og velholdt ut. På resten av hotellet så det ut til å foregå oppussing, ihvertfall lå sekker med sement og diverse materialer stablet på veien fra resepsjonen til rommet. Det er ikke heis på hotellet, så vær forberedt på bratte trapper. De ansatte vi møtte var alle sammen hyggelige og hjelpsomme. Så: skal du kun ha en seng å sove i og en dusj som virker i Merida, og er mest opptatt av å være sentralt plassert i byen: da er Reforma et bra valg. Buena, esta limpio, aunque un poco descuidado, poden darle en algunos arreglos a algunis espacios. Esta muy centrico, cerca de los lugares turisticos y tiendas de souvenirs.

Una verdadera PORQUERIA de hotel. Es un completo FRAUDE. A toda la gente que se quiere hospedar en este hotel basura, es un verdadero asco. El hotel esta viejo, podrido y decadente. Es muy visible que el dueno lo unico que le interesa es guardarse su dinero que gana y parece un hotel barato como para prostitutas. Desafortunadamente no me pude mover […] pues los hoteles que estaban alrededor estaban ocupados. No recomendaria a nadie hospedarse en esta basura de hotel. Tendria que ser demolido y volverlo a construir. Este hotel tiene por lo menos 100 anos en existencia y es una verdadera BASURAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!! Read more

El hotel es muy acogedor y está muy bien ubicado, a unas dos cuadras del zócalo. La habitación muy amplia, y la limpieza del hotel muy buena. Muy recomendable.

Nous avons eut le choix pour nos chambres: côé rue ou côté cour... Le choix était vite fait. L'hotel est très charmant, les chambres confortables et la piscine est la bienvenue après de longues journées
