Federal City Inn & Suites - New Orleans

It was close to the free ferry, very clean outside, front desk was helpful and nice. Room was clean. Hotel was in a great area, although a little difficult to find initially. Will def stay here again. I recommend going to the Bayou Bar and cafe right beside the free ferry, food was incredible.

The hotel was in a very safe and quiet neighborhood very close to the Algier's Ferry. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again when we come back to NoLA.

Although the location involved a bit more travel to get to Jazz Fest it was so worth it! In the end we actually saved time and money by taking cabs to and from the hotel. The staff is wonderful and the hotel was clean and comfy. Neighborhood was very safe. This is on a old navy base. Easiest way to get to the French quarter is pay $10 a day to park at the ferry and ride it across. Room had a kitchenette including a cooktop bed was comfortable and room was clean. Front desk help was excellent and knowledgeable about the area. We loved the walk to the ferry every day. We took the car to the ferry area when we had to walk back later in the evening. The ferry only runs until midnight, so slight inconvenience. Hidden little gem! Can't believe you are only a mile or so from the big city of New Orleans. You can take the free Algiers ferry to NO and use the trollys and buses and save a bundle on parking fees and hassles. Quiet, clean, comfotable. Nice kitchenette for those staying for longer periods.

I loved this hotel. I took my 13 year old daughter and her friend on Spring Break to New Orleans. The hotel has a stove top kitchen complete with pots/pans/cultery. I made a great breakfast to wake them up. The ferry on Algiers point is free to pedestrians. We parked at the all day parking for $5 dollars. The maps of New Orleans are deceiving. The Aquarium […] is right next to the Ferry drop off. Get your discount coupons off the internet. Then you can walk along the water to see the Natchez steam boat. Then look for St Petersburg Cathedral and follow up to Jackson square where there are a couple of museums and the horse rides are also available. New Orleans is an easy city to walk around. Check hotel prices if you have a family and are budget minded-I do not feel you can beat this hotel. It even has some playground equipment for small children, The desl clerk did advise not to come back when it is dark for our safety. Look on internet for other parking at night or take a taxi. The Federal City Inn Staff were very friendly and helpful...gave us good directions, prior to arriving. With the NOLA Police Disttrict Station and Military presence, we felt very safe. For the price, we were happy, as the Hotel is very clean. This is on a closed former US Navy base and next door to a small reserve station for the Marines and Coast Guard. If you've ever stayed in base lodging before, it's the same thing. That being said, I am in the military and don't mind the facilities at all, though for the difference in price it would've been nice to have seen some upgraded linens and […] furnishings. Hotel is clean and rooms nice and large. Only downsides are no elevators to 2nd floor, no signs indicating where to turn to get there and no in room safes. If you have heavy luggage, I wouldn't advise. You need to turn left at sign for Mardi Gras museum when you finally get onto Gen Dugalle coming from New Orleans side off of hwy 90/cresent city connection. […] The ferry is pedestrian only, No Cars.....so dont depend on that when driving. To travel back to New Orleans business district across the river fron Algiers, you need to take the tollbridge back, so have some change ready...$1.00. If u decide to store any valuables in the lock boxes, dont dare loose your key. We happened to do just that and it costs us $203 for a locksmith on a weekday normal hours. Otherwise the place is a great deal and riding the pedestrian ferry was something different for us. Cab ride to and from hotel was $10-15 one way to get across the river back to business dist/french qtr area. Would definitely recommend if you hv no special needs. Read more

The location confused us at first, we were trying to follow directions from mapquest and because of lack of street signs we passed it up twice. Just remember it is inside the old Navel Base not on a main street. The ferry was close by but not walking distance, taxi shouldn't cost to […] much or if you get there early enough you can park on the street for free or pay five dollars to park in a parking lot. The ferry is free or one dollar if you want to take your car across. Kitchenette is nice to have and hotel was clean except the bath tub could have been cleaner. Very comfortable bed and great pillows. Loved the sheets also. Didn't have lotions and shower caps, just shampoo, but I always bring those items with me so I didn't need them. Big room with table and chairs plus recliner. Kitchenette was very convenient.
