This hotel lives up to its expectations. It's clean and quiet in a very convenient locale. Complimentary in-room Internet service and morning breakfast in the lobby area are much appreciated as a business traveler. Room is small, but not unlike hotels in other major cities, and the room is cleaned and refreshed daily. Excellent overall value and would stay there again.

The hotel is very convenient for Tokyo Disney and Disney Sea but had to take a bus to the airport, which is about an hour drive and cost $24 per person. It was across the street from the Disney Train which gave us access to the subway for getting around in Tokyo.

One of my best hotel experiences in Japan. The staff were first rate, the room was clean, it's a great location with many things to do, and the view from the lobby on the 13th floor is spectacular. A little expensive, but not prohibitive all things considered.
Location.
Located in Tokyo (Ueno), Hotel New Touhoku is close to National Museum of Western Art, Tokyo National Science Museum, and Ueno Park. Also nearby are Tokyo National Museum and Sensoji Temple.

In addition to tour/ticket assistance, Hotel New Touhoku features laundry facilities.

This area offers a glimpse of what life was like before the economic boom of the 1970s and 1980s. Neighboring Asakusa, it is best known for the Ameya-yokocho Arcade, a busy market with interesting stalls. Ueno-koen, a sprawling park with monuments, zoo, pagodas, and a pond, is a must-do. Museums and galleries abound in the area.

If all you need is a comfortable bed every night after a long day of adventuring in Tokyo, this is a good place. Once you find it, it's very easy to get to from Ueno Station -- took us less than 10 mins to walk between them, even closer if you take a metro exit. They clean the room every day and you always have a newly made bed and new yukata pajamas […] to sleep in, which is great when you just want to relax. The rooms are definitely small, but it was enough room for me to sit at the desk on my laptop and for my 6'3" fiancé to relax on the bed with his tablet for an hour or so before sleeping. The bathroom is so small only one person can fit in there at a time, just barely, but it's not that big of a deal. Other than that, we didn't really hang out in the room. We spent two weeks at this hotel and it wasn't until the end of our stay that we had a night where cigarette smoke coming from somewhere in the hotel stunk up our room. I hope it was a rare issue! My only other complaint is that I had a souvenir coffee can that got thrown away because the maids thought it was trash. So hide things that might look like they should be tossed if you want to keep them! Otherwise, the staff was overall super friendly, very nice, and helpful. "convenient location with easy access to subway"
We liked the hotel because of its location and price. It is very near to the subway station, major attractions, like Ueno Park, and Ueno Zoo, as well as restaurants and shops. The hotel itself was rather quaint and our room was simply furnished. The room was clean and neat. However, we hardly had enough room to walk around in when we laid out our luggage. […] The bathroom was so compact that it could only fit one person. I could hardly move around in the bathroom without bumping in to the wall. The bed was fairly comfortable. We were happy to have access to the free Wi-Fi. Since the hotel did not have an elevator, we had to use the stairs to get to our room on the second floor. "Superb Location"
The hotel staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make sure everything was in right order. While the room wasn't all that big, I imagine it's on par for other places in Tokyo. What set it apart was the location. It's within easy walking distance of everything in Ueno, including the train station, lively night market and everything Ueno […] Park has to offer. "Convenient connectivity, English speaking lady"
Stay at new tohuku was a good experience. The most important part was connectivity. The hotel is just 5 minutes walk from Ginza metro line station entry. The lady who is available during day time was english speaking and very friendly. Even though the check-in is at 2:00 PM ( or 3:00 ) they offered us the room at 10:00 AM when it was available. "Hard to find, but nice enough"
The street where this hotel is located would hardly count as an alley in most American cities, and there's no signage to indicate that you're in the right place until you actually arrive at the front door. Make sure to bring your GPS or a highly detailed map if you expect to find it. That said, once we found the hotel, it was a delightful little place […] to stay. "The human touch makes it all ok"
I have forgotten that I made a booking for a small double room. Read reviews of bigger rooms but when I saw my room at the end of the night after a tiring day out, I was quite disappointed. Alas, the fault was in my own choice. The place itself it very nice, cosy and small - nothing new in Japan. WIFI is provided at the lobby and you can store your […] luggages before and after your checkin/out. There are 2 minimarts nearby within walking distance and JR Ueno Station is very very near. I must say the hospitality of the owner here is top notch. He takes care of us very well. Pleasant to talk to and friendly sincere smile makes it all better. I have nothing to complain. "A Wonderful Night"
I really enjoyed my stay! We had to stay a night in Tokyo, as I was catching an early flight the next morning, and our stay was wonderful! Not only was it cheaper than the neighbouring Chisun (on the other side of the main street), the beds were comfier, and we got a free upgrade! "Коротко об отеле."
Отель расположен во внутренних дворах квартала, поэтому пришлось поискать его при заселении (заезд в отель был в темное время суток). Нас заехало в отель 10 человек, но несмотря на это расселили нас довольно быстро. Отель как я понял очень не большой, коридорчики узкие, маленький холл. Нам достался двухместный номер на первом этаже, номер не плохой […] (учитывая, что это 3*), чистый, полотенца и юкато (халат) меняли каждый день, уборку производили тоже ежедневно. Кровати 1,5 спальные, не хватало пуховых японских одеял, которые были у нас в апартаментах при проживании в Хакубу. В номере было прохладно (январь), кондиционер работал все ночи на обогрев, что создавало отдельные неудобства в виде шума. Ванная комната маленькая, только для одного человека. Приятно, что шампунь, кондиционер и гель для душа были в достаточном количестве (стояли бутылки, а не как в российских гостиницах в мизерных пакетиках). В номере был маленький холодильник, чайник, кружки, телефон, телевизор, фен. Утром в фоей был бесплатный кофе с сахаром и сливками. Администраторы с удовольствием отзывались на наши просьбы и проблемы, общение было на английском. Отель расположен не далеко от метро и станции (10 минут пешком), от которой идет скоростной поезд в аэропорт Токио. Rommene var små, som ventet; det var en positiv overraskelse at sengeklær og håndklær ble skiftet hver dag. Madrass på 120 cm burde vært oppredd til to personer, ble litt ubekvemt å kjempe om dyna. Veldig hyggelig betjening. Gangavstand til mange av Tokyos severdigheter. 5 minutter til Ueno Station og Yamanote JR Line. 早上的前台是位阿姨，会讲用简单英语沟通，下午的伯伯英语稍差一些，但是很热情。清洁度一般，床头柜上积了较厚灰尘，应该是打扫卫生时长期没打扫到那里的结果，比较小的酒店，房间也很小，因而价位较便宜，还算方便，我们订的房间有单独的卫生间，而且上野是直达成田机场的列车首发站，回国前选择在那里住，可以逛逛附近的公园和集市，真是很方便。Genuine Hotels.com guest review

上野駅からホテルまでとにかく迷う…。路地裏にある為何度も迷子になった。雨で荷物がかなりあったので最悪でした。方向音痴のせいもあり覚えられたのは滞在2日目でした。道が分かれば以外に駅から近い。アイロンがなく困った。借りたズボンプレッサーは壊れてて使えませんでした。クーラーは古い割にとてもききが良かったです。ランケーブルでインターネットが出来るのも良かった。リンスインシャンプーってのと、ボディスポンジが無いので気になる人は持参が必要です。スタッフの方は皆、親切でアットホームでした。どうか、外国人観光客の為にアイロンの貸し出しが出来るようになればまた利用したいと思います！Genuine Hotels.com guest review
