nice hotel for what we paid however would not pay the rates they charge for summer months. Asked about the excercise room and sauna and was told where it was. The problem is that it is owned by a private club and as a result was not open. WIFI cost money and is the slowest internet you will ever have (standard for Europe it seems). Breakfast was good and plentiful. Grounds were very nice.

We booked 11 nights in this hotel and we would have been happy to stay longer but our schedule did not allow it. Hotel Velamar is the best value for money hotel that we have ever stayed in. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel has four floors and the restaurant is on the fourth floor with panoramic views of the sea and surrounding countryside making breakfast and very pleasant meal. Our only complaint was that the bed was hard. The location is very good, there is a wide range of inexpensive restaurants within a few minutes walk of the hotel and the buses to/from Albufeira stop close to the hotel.

Everything was good ,exept the bad internet €50 for one week , and we had to go out to get a connection, sometimes in rain and cold.

Easy to find (if you are driving)-w/in the main thourougfare. Hotel furnitures are somewhat outdated. Very helpful staff. wifi is not free and house computers in the lobby (fees).

At the head of a long verdant valley the popular, pretty little resort of Carvoeiro opens onto a small golden cove. Steep cliffs dotted with traditional houses rise to either side while the surrounding area has been heavily developed with low-rise apartments. Fishing boats ferry holidaymakers to less busy picture-perfect coves at Benagil, Carvalho and Marinha. Adjacent, the curious eroded rock formations of Algar Seco are worth exploring.

Difficult to find... no road names or signs didn't help. However, after a call to the apartments, the manager came out in his car to find us! Pleasantly surprised by how big the apartment was. Included a utility room with a washing machine and 2nd toilet. Plenty of built in storage in bedrooms. Bathroom had two showers! Towels changed twice a week..but […] these are only small so you will need to bring beach towels. Kitchen very spacious and had dishwasher and microwave but no kettle.. Pool was a nice size and plenty of sun loungers available. Located in a quiet area, amongst some lovely villas, about half an hour walk to the village.. would be longer on the way back as is uphill! Carvoiero is a lovely place for families and has the best beaches around in our opinion.Plenty of restaurants to choose from and pretty reasonable prices. We hired a car at Faro which was useful... but be careful as we were given a car full of petrol and told to return it empty .. we were charged 85 euros for petrol to refill it. We were in the Algarve for 9 days and still only used 3/4 of a tank of fuel and yet had to pay the fuel charge.. rip off! We went with two children (8 and 9) and they loved Slide and Splash water park and Zoo marine. I enjoyed the Fiesta Sand Sculptures - amazing. Would happily return again!
