Three of us chose the Pariwar B&B in the Thamel district of Kathmandu, primarily because of the positive reviews it received. Having never been to Kathmandu before, we were apprehensive, but the welcoming by Ram (the manager) and his staff quickly eased our concerns. The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast was prompt and fulfilling. The staff was attentive and polite. Particularly Ram, who would go above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable and prepared for the exploration of the surrounding areas. We were so satisfied with our initial stay, we used the facility for three more nights upon our return from trekking the Himalayas. The central location and peace of mind the Pariwar offered helped make our Kathmandu experience an extremely gratifying one.

I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Silver. The staff proved to be very helpful going out of their way to make me happy. The restaurant staff were excellent. This hotel caters to all types of tourist both Western and Indian tourists. I felt very safe for myself and also my belongings. They should provide a international call service to their phones as that was a slight obsticle for contact and also to make onward travel payments. I needed to go outside the hotel to do this which was a drag. Otherwise my stay was very comfortable.

Very nice hotel by local standards. The elegant gardens were a nice place to relax in an otherwise hectic city. Room amenities are up to international standards if not especially luxurious.

Located in Kathmandu (Thamel), Hotel Moonlight is close to Garden of Dreams, Taleju Temple, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Also nearby are Narayanhiti Palace Museum and King's Palace.

"A little nicer, but not in the center"
Based on Expedia and TripAdvisor, this hotel seemed like a 'slightly nicer hotel that's still right in Thamel.' The slightly nicer part is right, though the hotel is a little ragged around the edges. And I'm sure it's technically in Thamel, but if you value being really near the center of Thamel then this isn't the place for you. We'd recommend the […] Tibet Guest House. L'albergo si presenta in maniera accogliente e il personale è gentile e disponibile, ma le qualità si limitano a questo. La biancheria della stanza è stata al limite della decenza, i bagni sono fatiscenti, con porte e rubinetti che non si chiudono e scarichi che perdono allagando il pavimento, in sette giorni abbiamo avuto l'acqua calda solo due volte […] e mancando spesso la luce in tutto l'albergo fa in effetti un po' troppo freddo.
