The Tavern Hotel - Cottonwood

We loved this hotel!! We picked this place because we couldn't find anything in Jerome, but wouldn't have changed anything about this decision. It was in the perfect location to bounce between Jerome and Cottonwood. Another trip is in the works right now in a few months and we will be sure to book here again!!!

The Tavern Hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel. Cottonwood is still somewhat of a secret, but will not be for long with such a great place to stay. The hotel is impeccably clean with all the amenties of larger hotels and the bed is like my "heavenly bed" at home. We loved it and would stay again. We were in a 2 queen room because there were no more kings available. The room was a little narrow but there was plenty of compartments for our things. A wonderful surprise to find in Cottonwood ... Love this small town (Old Town) and the wonderful people that live there. The hotel is very special and so close to the restaurants and wine tastings - almost next door. Don't miss all the sites to see around that area. Will be back, hopefully soon.

We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. We did have a couple of monor questions for the management. In a place so elegant, with all the bells and whistles, why-oh-why would you provide the cheapest toilet paper that money couldn't buy? Incongruous, to say the least. The drapes and blinds are beautiful, but cannot block the morning light, no matter what one […] does. And, petty though it may seem, the A/C has this bright blue laser light, over the TV, that shines right in your eyes when trying to sleep. We covered it with duct tape we bought, special purpose, at the local Ace Hardware for the days we were there. We also used the tape as best we could to hold the narrow drape over the vertical light strip at the window edges and wadded the TP each time into a mitt full to "go". Read more

I would recommend this place to anyone staying in Cottonwood or Verde Valley. It is a very quaint hotel that gives you a feeling of luxury upon entering the doors. The rooms are very neat and very clean. I wouldn't stay anywhere else while visiting.

There really is no on-site staff...so if you prefer to have access to a front desk or maintenance or housekeeping 24-7 this may not be the place for you...however......it is a beautiful little place, great rooms, fun location, nice amenities like mini fridge, philosophy toiletries, high tech flat screen, etc. Check in was easy at the tavern next door […] and we received some unexpected extras like drink coupons and breakfast vouchers. The tavern closes at 9 PM though and I wonder how I would have been able to get my room if I arrived later than that? I don't recall anything in my reservation advising me to arrive before 9 PM. Great location, big luxurious room and bathroom. Very nice materials, comfortable bed, luxury bathroom. However, the door to the room has some big gaps and you can hear everything that happens in the hallway, and they can hear everything going on in your room. Other then that, great.

A true gem! The room was completely remodeled and updated. The bed was very comfortable. The complimentary breakfast and cocktails were a great treat. I would definitely recommend and will certainly stay here the next time we are in town.

The downtown area is charming but has limited restaurants. Most close after lunch. So need to drive into Sedona for a fine dining experience. Check in is at the bar of the Tavern. Did not know how could get service as the hotel is in a separate building and the tavern did not open until 11 am. Air conditioner and clock extremely loud as well as walls […] thin so can hear noise from neighbors. Really never did receive a good night's sleep. The toiletries were upscale, bein philosophy. A voucher for 5 dollars off breakfast as well as a complimentary cocktail were given at check in. I would check into other options before booking this hotel as seemed over priced with minimal service. The area is a nice place to visit for an afternoon but does not have much going on. Furnishing style is modern, rooms are clean and have a lot of space, huge shower. Right on Main St in Cottonwood, a lot of shopping within blocks. Good breakfast coupon for diner across the street, and the Tavern restaurant (parent of hotel) has very good food also.

We discovered this hotel by chance due to last minute booking for a crowded week-end in the Verde Valley near Sedona. There was an Art Fest and Jazz Fest in Sedona which is about 20 miles away and rooms were difficult to find. The Tavern Hotel had opened not long ago and apparently the word has not spread yet, so we were able to book a room. What a […] surprise! We had booked a dinner reservation in a neighboring town, but cancelled when we discovered the charm of Old Town and the quality of the hotel and adjacent tavern / restaurant called The Tavern Grille. There is also a wonderful restaurant just down the street which is owned by the same family called Nic's. This is the perfect place to stay in Verde Valley, because it is close enough to the beauty of the valley and Sedona without all the commericalism that swallowed Sedona since we last visited 10+ years ago. They may call it progress, but I would encourage you to visit Old Town in Cottonwood and The Tavern Hotel before it happens again. Read more
