"Exceptional quality and location."
You have to try very hard to fault this place. Everything looks new and of high quality. Even the beds were good! There is aircon in the rooms and you can eat your own food in the cafeteria. There is a automatic car park in 100m down hotel side street but there was plenty of free street parking in June. Worth driving to los cuatre postes about 2km from […] hotel to see walls illuminated, lights on about 10.15pm and off about 11.15pm Don't let the moaners and nit-pickers put you off. Lovely small hotel in excellent location for old town. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was quiet and spotless, with clean, modern lines. If walking from the station, make sure you aim for the city wall and walk along the pedestrianised ramparts on the south side to find the hotel right across the road from the gate which gives the hotel its name. […] Plenty of good restaurants and tapas bars within the walled old town. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Lovely little hotel, just outside city walls so quiet to sleep yet close enough to everything within just a few minutes walk. Spotlessly clean. Friendly & helpful. Would recommend Bodeguita de San Segundo, an excellent place for a nice glass of wine & excellent tapas, the choice of wine is amazing & the best I tasted during our stay in Spain. El Rincon […] del Jabugo, also on calle San Segundo is a nice friendly bar also serving fresh homemade tapas, restaurant there too. Also recommend La Barraca on S.Juan de la Cruz if you like German beers. El Portalon in Plaza del Mercado Chico is nice for a nightcap before wandering back to the hotel. All in all a great little hotel at a good price in a lovely old town.

Genuine Expedia guest review

"Value for money!"
08/21/14 JohnHennie Breda, The Netherlands
The hotel is a small building, 25 mtr from de Puerta de la Santa. This gate is in the middle of the south-side of the wall and gives entrance to the beautiful historical city of Avila. The hotel is a very nice place to stay. Kind staff, small but fully equipped and clean rooms, free parking in the neighborhood… And this all for € 53/night! The hotel has a small cafeteria were you can get some tapas and…..cold beer! So: Great value for money!
"Almost perfect. A night isn't long enough"

This was our first stop on an almost month long tour of Spain and Portugal and Avila itself remains one of our "must return to" destinations as it's beautiful and has a quite mystical feel to it. The hotel was wonderful. I'd initially booked two rooms for our family of four but upon arrival we were offered the family room in the attic with 4 single beds. Room was immaculate, smart bathroom. Reception staff were a pleasure to deal with. So helpful and super with our little children. No breakfast included but simple breakfast can be obtained from adjoining cafe. If we do return to Avila as we hope, this hotel will certainly be my first choice.

If you're looking for a small, smartly-priced hotel in an ideal location, this is should be on your list. Parking can be a little tricky, but we had no problem as it was off-season and midweek. In general, the quality of the food in the cafeteria is lacking but breakfast is fine.
"Excellent hotel, avoid triple room"
Stayed here for a one night recently, and found it a great hotel, very clean and modernly appointed, with great prices. Suspect it has been recently renovated. It is very conveniently located, easy to get to, with parking available on the street by the door ( as well as pay parking ). It is just outside the city walls, right by one of the many gates. The reason for the less than stellar rating is the awkward room configuration. We booked two rooms, including a triple. It was very spacious, actually much more so than the double, but which was located literally one meter from the front entrance, and between the entrance and the reception desk, and the rest of the hotel, which is upstairs. This meant you had to pass by reception to go between the two rooms, and could hear conversations, phones ringing etc. in the room. Luckily, it was off-season, and relatively quiet, but imagine it could be worse, especially for a longer stay. If you are staying alone, I'd have no hesitation, it's a great hotel, but I would not stay again if I needed the triple, it's that inconvenient.
"Modern hotel in an historic place"

I am very pleased to stay in a comfortable and clean hotel. The furnishings are modern. The place is obviously well maintained. The owner is very accommodating in preparing food for us when we arrive and changing rooms. Thanks for the hospitality. Much appreciated.
"Good hotel near Avila wall"

This was a last minute reservation, so was not quite sure what to expect, however, we were pleased with our choice. Surprisingly modern interior but may have been recently updated. Rooms were relatively quiet and comfortable. Note this hotel is outside of the wall, but access is quite close. They advertise a cafeteria but we ate in a local establishment.
"Spotless, friendly, great location by the best sights"

I'm just finishing a 3 night stay at this hotel and have loved it. The rooms are spotless, and modern despite what looks like a very old building from the outside. They are small, but certainly adequate in size. No breakfast is included in the price, but there's a little restaurant on the top floor that opens at 8:30 where you can get small breakfasts (and full dinners or just snacks to go with glasses of wine in the evening). Just across the street is one of the main entrances to the walled city (the entrance being one that leads to the church built on the site where St. Theresa of Avila was born, thus the name of the hotel. When I arrived on the the train from Madrid, the taxi driver found the place with no trouble. While noise on the staircase or in the hallway outside of the room can be loudly heard inside the room, it doesn't happen very often and doesn't last very long . One hint to the owner/operator would be to post a few signs asking those in the hallway to keep their voices down. If I were to come back to town, I'd certainly plan to stay here again.
"Good hotel with good price"
Recently stayed two nights at this hotel in Avila. Very new and clean hotel. Looks brand new hotel. Staffs are kind. We enjoyed staying here. Cafeteria was also very good. Around 5-10 min by Taxi from train station and just outside of the Wall.
"Hard to find, but worth it!"
10/08/13 LovemydogSedona Sedona
Even our GPS had trouble finding it behind the medieval walls! The initial greeting was cool, but our host soon warmed up to us. The room was very small, but immaculate. Bed made in heaven (and yes, we were really tired!)
"Clean 2 star hotel"
09/22/13 SurreyRome Gatwick, United Kingdom
We booked this on the strength of other Trip Advisor reviews and on the whole were not disappointed. Some perspective is required. This is a 2 star hotel offering great room rates and it is right by a gate into Avila. The place was spotless and well maintained. Everything we needed was in the room and the bed was fairly comfy, if a little hard. From this point of view standards were high and our interactions with staff were very positive. You will hear people in other rooms flushing toilets; having showers etc. Hard tile floors and walls transmit noise. If you want plush carpets and a cocoon go elsewhere, if you want a clean honest hotel give it a go!
