"Great boutique hotel"
The staff is welcoming and helpful. There must be smoking allowed in some rooms as the central air would periodically smell like smoke in the room. The rooms are small but very well designed. Worked well for a solo traveler.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is a 2 minute walk from the metro. The showers and rooms are amazing. The staff is very helpful with storing luggage. Overall, very satisfied.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very pleasant stay"
Very comfortable room, beds were great. Shower not fully enclosed so water gets on floor. Not a touristy area which was fine with us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We got an excepellent rate for 3 people so for the price it was worth it. The only 2 negatives were that the mattress for our 3rd person was very thin and all the bars stuck into his back. Also, the shower room had a clear glass door which we had to cover with sheets when in use. Fine if you're a couple not so much if you're grown siblings.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, nice hotel"
We enjoyed our stay at the Fred Hotel. The hotel itself is very nice and the staff is helpful. The room was spacious for a Paris hotel, and the bathroom had everything you needed. The only disappointment was that the wifi didn't work inside our room. This was difficult, as we were visiting Paris on business and had to check our email in the common room, […] where the wifi did work well. We notified the hotel, and they are working on fixing the wifi accessibility in the room. The neighborhood is very safe and has all the amenities you need nearby - restaurants, grocery store, cafes, etc. The metro stop is just a few minutes walk around the corner, and it was very easy to navigate to all the major tourist stops. We used the metro most of the time, as it was a bit difficult to hail a cab, even at the taxi stand. We took the metro to the Charles De Gaulle airport on our final day, and although it was a 75 minute trip, it was affordable and easy to navigate. We would definitely use this hotel again, and recommend it to others. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Modern, friendly hotel, close to the Metro"
I stayed at the Fred Hotel for a week, and found the small but modern room worked perfectly. The hotel staff is fantastic, the beds are comfortable, and the showers are excellent.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great Hotel. Very friendly staff, clean rooms ideal location for those who want to avoid the noisy tourist areas. Only a block away from the Metro on a quiet side street. It may be a bit far out for some (14th Ard) but only minutes away from everything via Metro. Would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Simple. Efficient. Great place to relax or work. Very quiet street. Close to subway Plaisance. OK restaurants there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location, comfortable bed, small room"
This hotel is located in a good area close to the Metro subway system allowing for quick transportation to the city central. The staff was very helpful in explaining the Metro and which trains to take to get to our destinations. The breakfast offered for 12€ a day was very good and fresh. The downside was that the rooms and hallways are very small and […] dark. The lighting is poor and insufficient and if you want to read or look at maps in the evening, it is very hard to do so, so do it during daylight hours when you can draw back the curtains. The bathrooms in the "classic rooms" are tiny, barely allowing one room enough to turn around or shower. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Our stay was very pleasant. Our rooms were small but were spotless. And the service was excellent. It is far from the Eiffel Tower but you can just get on the metro and it isn't that bad.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Fred Hotel was a great option for me and my husband while visiting Paris (July 2014). We didn’t want to spend an absurd amount of money (as you would if you’re staying in the center of the city), but we didn’t want to end up in a dump either. The Fred Hotel turned out to be a perfect choice. The hotel is modern and cozy with all the conveniences […] you’d want. The metro is just a block away. The neighborhood is great…it’s residential with mostly locals. The staff is very friendly and speaks perfect English. Our room faced a courtyard and was very quiet. All in all, a great hotel which I would recommend to anyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good In city stay"
One night only, small but pleasing room. Nice breakfast area, short walk to subway stations, cafes, shops.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Pleasant, nice stay with just a few concerns"
Overall, the quality, cleanliness and location of the hotel was great. I liked the modern layout. The staff was friendly and helpful. My two concerns were the very, very small size of the room (think bed in a cabin on a ship). I knew it would be tight, but it was tighter and smaller than I could have imagined. So - book a larger room if that matters […] to you. Secondly, the internet barely worked at all. Very weak signal in my room that was virtually unusable. You can easily walk to the metro within 2 blocks of the hotel, so the location was good and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. So I would stay again, if I didn't need internet, and if I booked a larger room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"excellent small hotel, well located near Metro"
a gem of a small hotel, with excellent English-speaking staff, great breakfast, and convenient location (walkable from Gare Montparnasse and several Metro stops). Non-touristy area has cafes, shops, chocolate. Monoprix store on corner has food, clothing, and misc stuff you need when travelling.Genuine Expedia guest review
The Good: A nice hotel that has undergone renovations to help it stand out from the other 'traditional' mid level parisian hotels. Soundproofing panels installed in the rooms and a heavy door to the room effectively blocked hallway noise. The street isn't the pretties but there is a Mono Prix on the same block. The staff was nice, the lobby clean and […] WIFI was available in the rooms. The Bad: the listing on Hotels.com was DIFFERENT than what we got in our room. We reserved the One Double Bed room. The website claims that this room comes with a coffee/tea maker, espresso maker, and a double sofa bed. Nope. When we asked about this at the front desk, the man there laughed and said rather bluntly "You got the cheapest room!" Um...actually, we got the room that was advertised as having those particular amenities, and, I wouldn't categorize the room as being cheap. The "air conditioning" they advertise is a panel on the wall that didn't work. It was locked on "Central" and claimed it was 17C in the room when it was closer to 27C when we checked in. We opened the windows and, as long as no one was smoking outside, we were fine. When we went into the bathroom the soap tray had broken off of the wall and lay on the tile. On a good note, the water was plentiful and hot. Don't waste your money on the breakfast as you can grab a baguette from the bakery around the corner for a euro, some french butter and jam from the mono prix and have yourself a delicious breakfast in the nearby park. "Bad experience, wouldn't recommend anyone"
First of all, our flight was cancelled and we couldn't make it the first day. We did call the hotel literally an hour after the cancellation window but they insisted charging us for the night we won't be able to use. Front desk promised us to talk to the manager, but he never showed up. Beside all of these, the rooms are super tiny, you can barely fit […] in your luggage. There's absolutely no privacy for bathroom. There's a glass separates the bedroom from the bathroom which you can totally see through. I do believe 5 star reviews for this place is actually written by the staff. I wouldn't recommend Fred Hotel to anyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very comfortable, clean place to stay"
We were very impressed with the employees of this hotel. They were helpful and did speak English. There is a small elevator, which we used when we had our luggage. My husband, my mother-in-law, and I stayed in the same room that had a double bed and a twin bed. I found the size of the room to be more than adequate for our needs. The beds were soft, […] which we appreciated even more after staying in other hotels with very hard beds. We were all very impressed and had an enjoyable time. "close to metro terminal and in the central Paris"
Hotel is located close to Plaissance Metro station & is quite convenient to reach most tourist attractions conveniently through this metro. The hotel neighbourhood also has supermarkets & restaurants serving all sorts of needs. The price of the hotel is on the higher side considering the services offered. The lighting within corridors is dingy during […] the night & looks gloomy. Rooms are very small (which is expected in most hotels in Paris) and the washroom is extremely small (smallest I ever experienced). Room cleanliness is good and the staff is courteous. Intimate experience. A boutique arrangement. Room the smallest my partner and I have ever shared. But "French" design is clever and just about adequate to our needs. "Friendly, small, simple, modern."
Very friendly, professional and welcoming staff. Small simple hotel but the design is modern and pleasant. You can sit outside on the back terrace if it's nice. Very good value overall. True, it's a boring neighborhood, somewhat far from the center, but it's also one of the few places in Paris you won't see tourists.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hard to fault"
Good location, a few stops far out from center of Paris. The hotel is comfortable. The wi fi in the room was not very stable during my stay but is available in the lobby area. Breakfast is buffet style and all you can eat. Staff are helpful and friendly. There are many good bistro nearby worth a visit or two. Will stay again if I ever get a chance to […] visit Paris again. Nice hotel in a great location. It's not very close to the main sites, but you are only steps aways from the metro and some good restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay here, but I would say that breakfast is way over priced. 12 Euro for a typical European breakfast of meat, cheese and bread.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice hotel, worth another visit"
Fred hotel is within 5 mins walk from the metro. Room is clean and the bed is comfortable . Room Wi fi was not stable during my stay but is free in the lobby area. Breakfast is buffet syle with a good choice of meat, bread, drinks and self cooked eggs. Staff are friendly and most helpful in answering queries, booking cabs and restaurant. Many good bistro […] nearby served really good French food. Except for the location, being a little bit south, hard to fault. Good back garden for al fresco smokers. Will come again. Thank you. "We loved staying at the Fred Hotel"
We loved staying at the Fred Hotel. We found the location convenient to restaurants and shops in a local Parisienne area. It is less than 1/2 block to the metro, though we walked to everywhere on the left bank easily. The decor is contemporary and attractive. Though the rooms are small, they have everything you need. The television is a large flat screen […] that is conveniently located. The bedding and bed was very comfortable. The bath/shower are also attractive and convenient. The front desk is open 24 hours and staffed by friendly staff that understands and speaks fluent English. Their breakfast/lounge area has a nice selection of information and food. "Very nice hotel for this price"
Just returned from a week at the Fred Hotel. The hotel is small including the rooms but very clean. The staff are exceptional especially a young woman who arranged a doctor appointment for my wife 2 blocks away to get a prescription she had left at home. "Decent hotel but still needs work."
I spent 4 nights at Fred Hotel with my girlfriend and quite honestly I was not impressed too much. I was fine with the size of the room, a bit small like most Paris hotels, but certainly did not bother me. My main complaint was the way the room was designed. The bathroom was very small, separated from the rest of the bedroom by a thin blurry glass. […] The glass door would slam every time I left the bathroom, causing an ear-aching crash. They should really put a piece of rubber or something to avoid the slamming noise. More annoying was how the shower was right next to the toilet but no door to separate the two. So when you would take a shower, it would leave the toilet and pretty much the whole bathroom soaked with water. Again, it was a poor design choice. The thin glass separating the bathroom and the rest of the room also made it very easy to hear everything going inside the bathroom. That can be a problem for some who may want more privacy, others may not care. There are also only 2 English channels on the television and the WIFI is really weak, almost useless. The staff was nice enough and helped me find my way to the airport, so they get some points for that. Overall, it is not a bad hotel, but I would certainly not go back or recommend it too much. Neighborhood is not touristy at all, which I found very pleasing. I hope this review helps for many of you travelers. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Parisian charm and large bedroom"
I liked this hotel a lot. The décor and furnishings are modern and tasteful. Unlike the typical Parisian hotel, the room was very spacious. My daughter and I stayed at the Fred hotel at the beginning of July and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Very close to the metro, grocery and bakeries. Sylvio, the concierge at night, was incredibly helpful, as was the woman who greeted us the afternoon we arrived. Both made every effort to give us the perfect neighborhood restaurant reservations, and gave us superb advice. The hotel was situated in a wonderful area of Montparnasse, close to our car rental, and near a Metro, so for our last night in […] France, it made a perfect stop to get to the airport early the next morning. "Close to metro"
We were pleased with our room and stay. Room was clean. 12 euro continental breakfast was decent and worth it for the added convenience. My only complaint was I asked for a cab that accepted a credit card as I was short 20 euro for the cab ride to the airport and didn't want to w/d $ for 20 and incur fees and the cab at 4am refused my card and at that […] point I was stuck. Didn't appreciate that. If I hadn't requested such it would have been my fault but I thought I had addressed the issue. Cabbie kept meter running while I found an ATM at the airport. That ended up being his tip. I normally would add over but this time did not. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice, but felt unsure about a few things"
The hotel was nice, the staff was very friendly, rooms were clean. Location was very close to metro, but somewhat far from most of the places we wanted to visit (the distance was no big deal though). I had two real issues. One was that the safe in the room was not bolted down. But more importantly. You dot hold on to the key to your room. You give them […] te key everytime you leave (no big deal) but when you come back, all you have to do is say your room number and they give you the key. No questions asked, not even your last name, and we know that they didn't always recognize us because it was almost always someone different at the desk. This made me a bit uncomfortable. Other than that, not a bad stay for the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A Boutique Hotel in Parisian Neighborhood"
Hotel Fred is a boutique hotel located in a truly Paris neighborhood. The staff is very professional and very helpful The room is small but done in good taste with optimum use of space-built in furniture and clever use of mirrors and lighting. The rooms are extremely clean. The bathrooms have modern fixtures and the water is wonderfully warm. The lobby […] is comfortable with a modern, simplistic décor and modern lighting fixtures that add to the space. Books and magazines are provided so one can read in the lobby where there is a fireplace for the winter months. There is a small outdoor patio for the warmer days. The eating space is efficient and comfortable. It is immaculately maintained. The breakfast is good and well presented. The coffee is excellent and there is an espresso machine for use throughout the day. It is an excellent find. I had my best dinners at two restaurants within 2 blocks of the hotel. The Metro is 2 blocks away and central Paris is 4 stops on the Metro. You are living among the Parisians, not in a touristy area of the city. There are fruit stands, chocolate and bakery shops and cafes that so add to one's experience in Paris. You spend your time with Parisians when you are in this area. This hotel allowed me a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"First trip to Paris, a comforting one."
As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a friendly face as well as accommodating. The entire hotel staff spoke english, however, we did try to reciprocate with french as well. Although the hotel and rooms are small, it's beautifully kept and decorated tastefully. The staff was always available to address any needs or concerns. Very helpful in planning […] our daily excursions too. I did not like the fact that we had to leave the key to our room at the desk every time we left the hotel. As a matter of fact, one day my daughter and I had returned early from our daily excursion and while we were relaxing we heard our room door opening. The woman quickly exited with an apology. Im sure this can happen at any other hotel since help has to tidy the room everyday, although I'm still unclear as to why she was entering our room since it had already been made up for the day. Other than that, our stay was pleasant and we had easy access to metro station and shopping. Although I have nothing to compare it to since this was our first trip to Paris, I would definitely consider returning. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Just right for us"
When I got the chance to tack a few vacation days on to the end of my first business trip to France, I did lots of online research before choosing a hotel. The price for Fred Hotel was within my budget, the location within easy reach of the hotel I stayed in while on business, and the reviews were excellent. Still, I was worried. But my concerns were […] unfounded. The staff were warm, friendly, and both tolerant of my limited French and quite willing to speak in English. The room was tiny by US standards, but well-appointed and immaculate. My husband - a frequent business traveler-- joined me for several days and said that he often found himself in smaller rooms on business trips in Germany. And there was free Wifi, too! Fred Hotel is located in a diverse neighborhood. There is a Monoprix grocery/department store just a half block away, along with stores offering fresh produce, baked goods, wine, chocolates, and meats all within a block or two. There were Italian, Asian, and Turkish restaurants on the 1.5 block walk to Plaisance metro station, as well as bistros and cafes in every direction. There was a well-stocked pharmacy near the metro station, which came in very handy for treating the blisters I developed from all the walking we did! Take note that breakfast is not always included. -- we had some confusion over that. Otherwise, not a sour note to our stay in this lovely little hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Find in Paris"
Wonderful hotel outside the center of Paris. Very modern, clean and chic with very attractive rooms. Even the bathroom was extremely modern and attractive with stone walls in the shower. The entire room was very inviting, although small, but still very comfortable. I've traveled a lot in Europe and I would give the Fred Hotel my highest recommendation […] for the money. "Very good but with qualifications"
We loved the neighborhood in that it was a 'real' Paris area with almost no tourists (like ourselves) and yet it felt very safe and quite convenient via the Metro. Also the room was quite clean and the staff were extraordinarily nice & spoke English. On the downside, we were in two different rooms during our three day stay (we booked an extra day separately) […] and couldn't get the heat/air to work in either room. Fortunately, the evening was cool and opening the window served nicely, albeit, at the cost of some street noise. Although we booked and paid for a "superior" room for all three nights, they didn't have a "superior" room for the third night and the smaller size was noticeable because even the "superior" room was very small. We booked and paid for a "king sized bed", however in neither room was the bed anything close to king sized. Their explanation was that 'this IS a French king sized bed'. I wish I'd had a measuring tape so I could provide the exact measurements but just guessing I'd say that the "superior" room bed was just a little smaller than an American queen, whereas in the "classic" room it was the size of an American double (or full). To compensate us for not providing the "superior" room (that we'd already paid for) on the last night they offered up a free breakfast. This turned out OK. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Although the neighborhood isn't glamorous, Hotel Fred is. It's very mid-century modern, comfortable and friendly. For the price, a great hotel.
