"Wonderful location, average hotel"
Hotel Milano is situated right on the lake and has wonderful views (the road runs just behind the hotel). Staff at the hotel are very friendly. The rooms are fine (they may seem expensive for their size & condition but in comparison to prices in the area they are just fine). The breakfast was very average for the area (i.e. nothing particularly wrong […] with it, you just would expect a little more given the price you are paying). Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel due to the great location and friendly staff. However, there are a couple of downsides to the hotel that detracted from our stay (and I am not sure we would return). Firstly, they do NOT have internet available in the rooms (despite what it says in their hotels.com description), the internet is only available downstairs in their lobby/bar area. Also beware of the bottles of water in your room, you will be charged for these. The rooms have small fridges which are empty apart from two bottles of water, which we assumed were complimentary as there was no note to say these were to be purchased and no other drinks in the fridge which would indicate that it is a mini bar. However, on check out we were charged 2 euro per small bottle, this was disappointing given the price you pay per night at the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Milano. Our room had a beautiful lake view. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant also has a great view and the staff is very attentive and efficient. We stayed for Easter Sunday and my kids were very happy to find a chocolate bunny and chocolate eggs in our room for them. Nice touch! We took the ferry […] and visited the islands and also drove through the little towns. Beautiful. Everything was very close to the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

In our opinion this is not a 4star hotel it isn't even up to 3star standard. It was very tired and dated. The plus point was the beautiful view from the hotel. The staff were very pleasant but apart from this and the fact that the towels and linen were changed regularly kept us there. For what we paid we thought the experience would have been much better […] as other 4 star hotels that we saw in the surrounding towns put this one to shame. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Velg heller å bo i Stresa.

"Traditional Italian Hotel"

We stayed at the Hotel Milano for 4 nights and had a great stay. It is definitley not the place to go if you like chain hotels or anywhere with no character. It is traditional and has very quirky decor. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and the setting cannot be beaten- so peaceful and beautiful!

We came in from Florida via Dusseldorf and we were dead tired. We made sure we had a reservation in a four star hotel so we could sleep and regroup. What a surprise this place was. It has a beautiful view, but the old wall paper was peeling and stained. The beds had holes in the b ox springs, and you had to lie in the exact middle. Otherwise you were dumped onto the floor. Only several rooms had air conditioning, and the picture shown on the wrb site is actually a hotel down the road. We left promptly the next morning and missed a day on the beautiful lake. This is a 1 1/2 star hotel.

We loved this hotel! It's modern and comfortable, yet has an air of the heydays of the Italian Lakes in the 1950s and 60s. We sat on the terrace beside the lake and half expected a Riva speedboat driven by a blazer-wearing Playboy to pull alongside and for Sophia Loren to step ashore! Our room was a little dated, but clean and comfortable. Whatever you do, make sure you pay a little more for a lake view - it is stunning. The staff are friendly and helpful and speak good English. The hotel doesn't have a pool, but you can use the one at their sister hotel about 400 yards away. Very nice pool in the gardens above the hotel with a great view of the lake. One small word of caution. The hotel advertises live music every Saturday night, but we didn't realise how late it would go on. The place was packed and the band played very loud Mexican music until midnight and then there was loud dancing music until 1 am. Not ideal if you're trying to get some sleep before an early start - but if that's your kind of thing, pay your 42 Euros for the buffet, wine and dancing and have a great time!

We stayed four nights at the Hotel Milano. The setting was amazing, right on the lake! We had breakfast on the terrace overlooking beautiful Lake Maggiori and watched the lovely boats on their journeys. The breakfast was fine..fruit, eggs, yogurts, croissants, cheeses, breads, cakes, though it was exactly the same everyday, a change would have been nice. The Hotel is very charismatic and old fashioned and I kept expecting Sophia Loren to turn up anytime. It has a lovely ambience about it. If you are into five star contemporary then this isn't for you. It's quirky, it's eccentric and it's wonderful. They played lovely old fashioned music and one evening had a live violinist. It was very clean and the staff were excellent and very professional. Lots of nice places to eat and drink within walking distance, and only five minutes walk to the ferry. I absolutely loved my stay here, but I don't do flash five stars, I prefer somewhere with character, with a soul and that is what this hotel offered. I shall certainly return!
"We stay at Hotel Milano when we arrive in Milan and when we leave"

When traveling to Italy we always begin our trip at this wonderful Old Hotel on the water of Lago Maggiore. This year was our 10th time staying there..Because we love the view and the staff we stayed 5 days at the end of our trip to relax before coming back to the states.. The room has a great view of the Lake, we love sipping wine on our balcony, The rooms are very clean, We eat every nite there why go anywhere else when the Food is so wonderful here. The waiters remember us and treat us like family as does the rest of the staff. Friday and Saturday;s they have live music with Luciano Pavan on the violin who is so very talented, Oh so romantic to sit looking out at the sunset listening to music and drinking good wine eating good food.. If you want a real Italian treat stay with these wonderful folks at Hotel Milano you will not be disappointed. keep in mind that this is a family run Hotel, it is older but kept up very well. Oh and don't forget to have a wonderful Vodka Sorbeto as a desert after dinner yummy Oh it also very close walk to Ferry Boats, and has a small sandy Private beach to pick up some rays.our go to the sister Hotel for a swim in a very beautiful setting up high on the hill. Ciao enjoy.
"A nice old hotel"

we stayed fro 3 nights in early October so temperature was never an issue. Folks were friendly and helpful, breakfast was included and adequate. Parking was free. The guest rooms were older and slightly tired. The bathrooms and closets were tiny. The Hotel is way past its prime. Served as a great base to explore the lakes but other than sleeping we spent no time there. Which is a shame, Hotel Milano is on the water while all other hotels up and down the lake have the main road betweem them and the lake. This was a much less expensive property than those 4 miles north in Stresa. I'd probably stay again (but would certainly research other options) - my wife would not stay there again. She just felt Lago Maggiore deserved a classier hotel.

We were not told in the reception that there is no air conditioner in the room. However, we decided to stay because the view from the terrace was amazing. It was the wrong decision! It was a night that we will never forget … we didn’t get any sleep. It was hot, and much worse, stuffy with a moldy smell (The carpet was wet and the walls and scieling had big old stains of dried water). The mattress moved freely and made a terrible noise. In total the room needs a total renovation, and i would not have given it even a 1 star rating. not worth the mony (95 Euro).
"Hotel Milano and all that goes with it."

We often used to stay in Stresa on Lake Maggiore, however one day we moved on 7 kilometres up the road to a little village named Belgirate and discovered The Hotel Milano. A realy pleasent and friendly hotel that can be Room only, B&B, Half or Full Board or whatever you want on a daily basis. The rooms are large as are the bathrooms and a lot of the rooms have a superb view over the lake at sunrise or sunset. Food is of the highest quality and very typically Italian, I guess this is because they have some serious competition from a couple or so restaurants just across the road. It is easy to get to and from Stresa by local bus or boat (not that frequent) from the Belgirate boat station which is just along from The Milano . Once in Stresa you can basically get to any town on the lake by boat and it is not expensive. A bit hussle bussle from the main boat terminus but that lends itself to the great atmosphere that exists. When there, we always go to a town called Palanza for lunch, it is a bit of a routine trip for us and there are many superb restaurants and some great walks. Another good day out is a trip on the cable car that goes up Monte Mottarone with a mid stop on the way, excellent scener pack walks and good eating places there however you feel that perhaps the prices have been a bit inflated because of the spectacular views. You can of course always put your knees to the test by walking down the mountain (I have never done this nor do I plan to) The thing about this part of the world is that it is so ITALY and getting back to a typical Italian Hotel in the evening and really being able to relax adds something special to the whole vacation. A point to remember is that if you are really tired when you get back to Stresa from wherever you have decided to travel and dont want to wait around for the next boat or bus back to Belgirate just call the hotel and they will send a taxi to collect you. Footnote: As a guest at Hotel Milano you can swim in its sister Hotel Carlotta's pool which is set in very picturesque surroundings.

After arriving on the 8th July we were shown our room. The room looked out over the lake, it was amazing! Unfortunately there was no zircon and it was 38 degrees! We were then told that for 10 euros we could upgrade to a room with aircon, which we did. We were shown a room with am even better view, from and center over the lake, an unforgettable view. Sadly though, the room only had a noisy portable aircon unit, but so as not to ruin my partners dream trip, I switched it on, and left the room forman evening meal. Upon returning to the room, we found it as hot as it was before we left. I tried to put up with it, but once I tried the bed, that was it! It was like sleeping on a boat! I can easily the most uncomfortable bed I have ever tried! To cut a long and sad story short, at 3 am we got up, left the hotel, and drove to Florence, which was our next destination,
