was good for the kids. i did. not like that the other guest reserves all pool chairs and most were not even there to use it.. felt it was a race every morning to get a spot.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was my second stay and one more time wonderful vacation thank you all staff for every attention !!!Genuine Expedia guest review
The food cost was very excessive. Hotel is in the middle of nowhere and you have no choice but to eat the average food at twice the cost of a 4 star resturant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A must visit, if you have Disney kind of kids."
Very nice Hotel, but worth one day stay. Be prepared to empty out your wallet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
After reading many negative reviews on Trip Advisor about Aulani, I was a little hesitant to stay here. It was wonderful! We were greeted with lei's and escorted to the front desk to check in. We were upgraded to a 'partial' ocean view, which was fabulous, ocean and mountains! The resort and pools were clean and cast members were friendly. Yes, it was […] a little expensive but you are on an island and at a resort - expect it. The food was very good at the snack shack's and restaurant that we ate at. Within walking distance was the MonkeyPod which also had wonderful food. In the same area was great gift shops and a market. Wonderful vacation! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Almost perfect vacation."
My daughter gave our stay five out of five stars. My son said eleven stars. I can only give four because of a very rude snack bar employee by the pool. Everything else was perfect and we all had a great time.Genuine Expedia guest review
"It is an excellent family hotel!!"
Friendly staff , my kids loved it! They accommodate our group of 13. The rooms where very clean and the beach was amazingGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent family resort"
Great resort for the family. 4year old loved Auntys Beach House, different pools, water play and the beach. His favorite was the Disney character breakfast with singing and dancing (the breakfast food was great too; mickey waffles, pancakes, French toast, loco moco, fresh fruit, made to order omlets and more!) Drinks are pricey, so hit up the ABC across […] the store for food and drinks. If you do buy at Aulani, get beer at Makahiki, $5 beer vs 7 at pool side. Get to the pool early as lounge chairs are covered with towels. 1st come 1st serve. The beach isn't too busy early tho. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"We can't wait to go back!!"
This was easily the best vacation we have ever had. Our initial greeting came with friendly smiles, gorgeous leis and gifts for my children and deliciously scented water which was needed after long travels. Our room was perfect with a great view and a kitchenette that was perfect for snacks and drinks. I cannot say enough about the pools and grounds. […] They were meticulously kept and all staff was extremely helpful and attentive. I think the only advice I would give it that it is a must to get to the pool early. If you arrive after 9-10am, you will not find an open seat and if you do, it may not have an umbrella which was a must for us. It gets very busy so be prepared. Aunty's Beach House is a blast for the kids and a nice change of pace. They take great care of your kiddies and give mom and dad a chance to have some quiet time. We ate at the Makahiki for breakfast and the pool for lunch everyday. Yes, it pricey, but honestly, I am tired of people taking about how expensive this place is. Of course it expensive! Its Disney and Hawaii, to expect anything less is silly, so spend your hard earned money and enjoy! We spent one day in Waikki and I don't ever need to go back. Its overcrowded, commercialized and dirty. Ko Olina is much nicer and gives a better Hawaiian experience. So when we return (hopefully sooner than later), we will not rent a car as never used it. You will love this place! Aloha! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

It was an amazing time!!! Beautiful resort. Great customer service!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
Overall enjoyed stay. However, our room was not as clean as i expected it would be for the price we paid. It appears that the previous hotel guests had cake and there was cake crumbs left uncleaned in the refrigerator as well as on the floor. Also, the bathroom did not appear to have been cleaned. Toilet room smelled like urine (very strong oder) and […] sick was still dirty. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Completely up to Disney standards"
This hotel is definitely up to Disney standards. Disney is a name in and of it self, so going to Aulani, I definitely had a standard I was looking for. It totally lived up to it. A smile and a flower or kukui nut lei greeted us as we checked in. It didn't seem overcrowded, but perhaps it was the time of year (June) - although it was difficult to get […] a seat if you got to the pool later in the day. The staff was very nice. There are plenty of activities to do (some were complimentary and some required an additional fee). I wish, at check-in, there was a tour of the facilities offered. I felt a tad bit lost just reveiwing the map. I did research before we left, but there is just so much going on that it's a bit hard to keep up. However, the Daily Iwa was a great help. AND, any of the Cast members that I talked to were very helpful. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Crowded, overpriced hotel"
Noisy hotel room without view, next to stairwell, next to room with crying baby all night long. Hotel is extremely crowded throughout the property: was unable to make reservations at any of the on-site restaurants two weeks in advance nor find any lounge chairs at any of the on-site pools at 9am. Worst >$550 ever spent!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Would have rated higher if it wasn't so remote."
Great hotel with it own little water park. But being so far from Waikiki makes hard to see any sights.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"perfect place for families"
We had a great time at the Aulani Disney Resort. Our two boys loved the place and they had tons of fun playing in the pools and on the beach. The resort is perfect for families, there are lots of pools and water activities for kids. The food is pricey, but that is to be expected when vacationing in Hawaii. Our only issue was our room. When we checked […] in we asked if it is possible for a free upgrade, especially since the hotel was not even close to being fully booked, but we were told it was not possible. On our third night there, we discovered a very bad smell in our room when we returned back from dinner, that smelled like burnt rubber. It was very hard to breathe in the room and we had to move to another room. No one at the hotel explained what the cause of the bad smell was, they just moved us to another room. Kinda strange. Besides that, we enjoyed our stay there and loved the convenience of the place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It depends what you are looking for"
We had a lovely stay at the resort but there were definitely a few things that we didn't care for. The main swimming pool was closed early most days and opened late. Most people are coming from a time difference where we are up early so that was a bummer. We also didn't enjoy eating at the same overpriced 2 restaurants all week. To drive to the nearest […] cool place to dine was very far. It took us 2 hours to get to Waikiki in traffic (only 30 mins back thank goodness traffic let up). It was again 2 hours to go visit the dolphins. I would stay somewhere more walkable to shopping (there is virtually none) and a variety of restaurants. The food we had was delicious but for the 3 of us, it was $80 plus for every meal including breakfast, and after 6 days of eating there, we would have enjoyed a 10 min drive to another place for food even, but the resort is remote. As far as the Disney themed goes, we were ok that it was Disney LITE, but if you are expecting a lot of different characters, I would suggest going to Disneyland. We really enjoyed the staff, they were very helpful and pleasant. They left little gifts for us each night. The only other negative was that they didn't unload all our bags to the shuttle to the airport. :( We now are home without 2 bags which they are sending. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good for ages 3+"
We decided to take our 1 and a half year old daughter there to experience it before we left the island. I already did the research and knew she wasn't going to be able to participate in Auntie's beach house. But the menehuna bridge was supposed to be all ages, that being said I took her on it and was going to go down the slide with her when the attendant […] told me parents weren't allowed... This is supposed to be a place for children and there was absolutely nothing to do with our daughter other than go down the lazy river with her and take her to the beach. It was over priced and the character breakfast had a total of 3 characters. One of which who left around 8 when breakfast starts at 7. My advice would be A) go there as a couples getaway or B) save your money and take them to the Polynesian cultural center, kualoa ranch, dole plantation, Waikiki aquarium/zoo, bishop museum, and the cultural place such as iolani palace. Go out and explore the island instead of paying over a grand for a weekend stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

When asked towards the hotel, I was told that it is out If you put the parking ticket after putting the room key in the payment machine. But error was displayed in the way. After all, I paid $ 70 for two nights with a credit card. $ 35 payment at check-out, I paid $ […] 105 in total. Will it correct with this? "Excellent amenities, don't go anywhere else..."
Everything about Aulani is awesome!... except for the following: If you are staying over 4 days activities get repetitive as well as food options. About food, way overpriced, especially the Buffet. A la carte options are scarce but delicious. We really enjoyed Aulani but not the outside tours, the kids surfing class is a good initiative but it still […] needs improvements and is very expensive, paradise cove luau is decent the food is terrible, we paid for VIP which is double the price than regular admission whom were sited only a few feet away... very expensive, not worth it!. We rented a car at the resort and visit the pineapple fields and the Waterfall, that was way worth it... Just our experience. Thanks Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great for families with kids"
Our boys were 6 and 2 and the staff and facilities were wonderful. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff shared the spirit of Aloha. The pools were great and clean. Truly the spirit of Disney honored the Hawaiian culture. The Starlit Hui was fantastic and short enough for the littles attention span. Pricey, but well worth it. Many shuttles available […] every day to excursions and the staff was helpful with suggestions based on the children's ages. Definitely will come back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great for families with young children"
Beautiful property. Need to plan your days according to properties schedule of events or else you'll miss out on all the resort has to offer. Great for kids and parents.Genuine Expedia guest review
Nice resort and very well planned by Disney. However, if they are calling it Disney there should be more than just 3 Disney characters at the theme breakfast. Kind of far away from Waikiki so visitors better get a rental car because the taxi ride from the airport will be the same as the rental car for a week.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place but way too crowded!"
Staff and facilities were great, however, when we went the hotel was at a very high occupancy plus they were selling day tickets to locals who were on spring break. It was very crowded - unless you got up at 6am, there would be a 40 minute wait to get breakfast and it was difficult to find a free chair at the pools or beach.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Pretty much what you'd expect"
Overall very nice. The kids had good fun in the well-heated pools, the not-terrifying slides, the fish-stocked artificial snorkeling reef, and the calm-water ocean inlet. Very comfortable and controlled--one of those always good and sometimes almost but never quite great experiences. Claiming pool chairs wasn't fun but was doable if you were willing […] to wake up early enough, and most people were friendly and generous enough about it--we were all in the same boat. Cleaning services missed our room one day but made up for it with a little extra attentiveness later. The key card system glitched but was quickly fixed. The restaurants were overpriced and needed reservations well in advance but the food was pretty decent (and the shaved ice stand was worth the long lines). The stores and restaurants across the street provide some decent alternatives. Overall, there was kind of an amusement park feeling which makes it not the right place if what you want is just some peace and quiet, but if you're even considering this place to begin with, that's probably not too high on your priority list. We'd definitely consider going again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Really great family fun. Friendly staff Definately follows the Disney business model of excellent serviceGenuine Expedia guest review
This was our second visit to Aulani, and unfortunately, it no longer lives up to the hype. The resort has almost tripled in occupancy since we were last there (late 2012), and the crowds are shocking. We once were in a hot tub meant for 9 (as posted) and there were 37 people in it (not an exaggeration). The lines to sign children up for the offerings […] at the kids' club started at 7:00 AM and lasted over an hour (just like a ride at Disneyland). Not the sort of thing you expect when you're paying these rates. I would only recommend this resort if one is in Hawaii and plans to spend only a couple of days here to use the crowded pools AND only if one gets an incredible deal. Quite disappointing for the price $378 per night for a Garden View room. Food seemed like an afterthought. The pool menu was very limited. AmaAma restaurant's food was mediocre. "We ❤️ Aulani!!"
My husband travels to Honolulu often for business. We usually stay at the Sheraton or the Hilton in Waikiki. We came across a deal for Aulani and we decided to try it out. Our family had a blast, it's a 5 star resort!! We have found a new love- the Aulani!! Our kids are 5 and 8 and we spent hours enjoying; the lazy river, slides, infinity pool, reef-you […] name it we did it! Our children really enjoyed Aunties beach house and the staff! It's a wonderful safe environment and we felt at ease dropping our children off there. Just some thoughts as we fly home: 1. When attending the Starlit show be sure to take advantage of the crafts in the back. Fun stuff!! 2. The Spa was amazing and worth every penny. I spent 3 hours there enjoying the facility. I kept smelling the Spas fragrance in the elevator and it made me want to go back!! 3. Uncles canoe racing at the Pau Hana Room was a blast for our entire family. 4. Bring water shoes for the reef. If you have sensitive feet there are rocks in the entrance. We wished we would have spent the extra money and got the passes for the week. The kids enjoyed it more than I thought they would. 5. The banana bread pudding was decadent at AMA AMA. We had a wonderful dinner and the ambiance was very romantic at the 6:23pm sunset. We went there while, our kids went to Chip and Dale Surf party which was $180. Dinner was $140 for 2 of us. We had apps, cocktails, 2 entrees and 2 deserts. Expensive night! 6. Be sure to get a shaved ice with the condensed milk #2. Yum!! 7. We stayed until 9:00 pm the day we checked out. We were able to use the locker rooms and shower before our next destination. We left our bags with the bell service for the day while we played. We were shocked that after check out we were still able to use Aunties beach house, too. 9. Happy hour from 5-7 at the Olelo was enjoyed with wonderful music. 10. The tacos and sliders were amazing at Off the Hook. 11. I was worried about my morning coffee because of other reviews.
