Only spent one night, but this was due only to the inclement weather. We stayed on the first floor and it was very warm and cozy with a newly decorated en-suite shower room. Very clean with friendly owners. We had an excellent night's sleep and a delicious breakfast.

We love everything about the Grange, the quiet, the leisurely pace, the good food, the lovely gardens, and particularly the personalized service provided by Jane and her sons Bertie and Tom. Don't come if you're looking for a hip and swinging place-this is not it and that's what we love about it.

This is a understated, cozy hotel above Runswick Bay, just a short (but hilly) walk to the beach and only five miles from Whitby, a tourist destination on the North Sea. There is a bar with basic dinner choices (including delicious homemade onion rings), and our family room has a bunk bed, double bed and trundle bed. It would be a squeeze for a family of five, but it is comfortable for three.

When we arrived the front door was opened with a smile. We were shown to our room, which was excellent, bright and very clean, although the bathroom was tiny. You had to open the shower door to be able to sit on the loo! That is the only minus point in our stay. The breakfast was delicious. The staff were very polite and helpful. The room was larger than i expected,plus the facilities in the room were handy a selection of coffee,tea and hot chocolate were welcoming on arrival.The breakfast was a unique experience as u could choose from a variety of different cereals and what u wanted as part of your full-english.The staff were helpful and friendly.

Very good value and very helpful. Breakfast cooked to order and excellent. Room good. My only complaint would be that, for a big six-foot man, the shower cubicle was too low and too tight! The hotel is in an excellent position in relation to the Castle and both bays.
