I really enjoyed my stay at the Alexander. The owners, Morna and Andy were great hosts. The décor was lovely and the place was immaculate. The guest house is close to the center of town. Just a little hard to find. Even a policeman I questioned didn't know where it was. The plaque by the door says that check-in was from 5 PM-9 PM but the owners say they have ordered a new sign. Just ring the doorbell and someone should answer. Breakfast was very good. The single room I recieved had a keyhole down at my knees and upon opening it I said where is the bed as there was just a small chair next to the table. It was up about 5 steps up tucked in and cozy. Morna was very helpful and hospitable , location absolutely superb . Booked in weeks in advance but got a room at the back of property , the room was smallish , smallest shower room I ever seen before , Alexander was offered as De Luxe house , but has nothing to do with luxury ! Felt like staying in a relatives spare room and being charged for it. Check in time too late and check out time too early. Paying a full days rate and allowed to stay half the time. Too many restrictions. Lovely couple running the place but if you are looking for a hotel experience you will be sorely disappointed. Does not qualify for the 4 star rating […] that it has. The pictures do not do this hotel justice. My only regret is that I missed out on the cooked breakfast as we left before it started but we were given a lovely cold breakfast to keep in our fridge. My parents were still around for breakfast and they said it was amazing!

The people at Alexander Guest House went way beyond what would normally be expected to accomodate us. We had confirmed reservation through Expedia, however, the room was simultaneously booked at the guest house. We were traveling all day and arrived at the guest house to find the double booking problem. Our host juggled two other guest to make room […] for us. Plus: Good location on banks of the river, fairly quiet but only 5 minutes walk to the town centre. Friendly and helpful owner/staff, could not have asked for better. Nice breakfast. Room was big enough for 2 people and a suitcase to fit comfortably. Fan, hair drier, kettle, alarm clock, sat TV in room. Problem with shower (broken switch) fixed the […] same day. Nice lounge downstairs. Wi-Fi Minus. The car park at the back cannot be reached without exiting the front door and walking round the outside of the building via an adjcent hotel's car park, which feels a bit clunky. The car park only holds 6 cars for 11 rooms, but we always got into it when we needed to. There is free overnight road parking outdside from 1600-1000 as back-up. A sign on the front door says check-in only between 1700-2100 which would have been a problem for us as we were early and had evening commitments, but when we telephoned they came to the door and checked us in anyway (The owners live in the back half of the building). Over-all Plus significantly outwieghs minus. I'd stay there again. Read more

This was a disappointing stay. The Alexander Guesthouse is an attractive building in a beautiful location. Parking is not easy in the street outside. There is a carpark out the back accessed from the street behind. There is however no access to the guesthouse through the back, requiring a considerable walk back around to the front. Check in is allowed […] only between 5.00pm and 9.00pm. Had this been brought to our attention when we booked we would have spent a more leisurely time getting to Inverness. The unwelcoming nature of the signage and instructions sprinkled around the hotel does not help the mood already created by accessing the guesthouse. We were in one of the back rooms and there was little sound proofing between this and the next room - every sound of the gusts, next door, showering etc could be heard. The very friendly staff and the breakfast almost made the stay worthwhile, but we wouldn't stay there again. Read more

My hopes for a good stay were high after reading the reports on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed We stayed in Room 5 which is situated at the rear of the building, no river view but a very comfortable room, spotlessly clean and the bed was one of the most comfortable we have slept in. Little touches like quality soaps etc, a silent running fridge […] (with a jug of cold fresh milk), Tea and Coffee making facilities, hair-dryer and small flat screen TV made all the difference. (Even a hot water bottle was in a drawer.. not needed, the weather was great). The breakfast was very good indeed, a selection of good cereals, fresh fruit, piping hot sausage, bacon and eggs, proper filter coffee and as much toast as you want. Sets you up for the day. Parking is at the rear of the property, a bit of a tight turn in through the gate but shouldn't be a problem. We hired a Vauxhall Insignia and managed it ok, just be a bit careful on leaving as it is difficult to see the traffic aproaching Access to the car park is via the Waterfront Hotel car park about 3 doors away, a good excuse to stop for a drink in the garden overlooking the river. 这是一排坐落在美丽湖边的历史悠久的建筑中的一部分，ground floor的餐厅和客厅都非常漂亮，内部估计是为旅店改装过的，因而2F(不算ground floor)的地板踩起来有些不太踏实，相信如管理员介绍的，1F的房间会更好，但我们无缘。房间内的布置很温馨也很别致，尤其是阁楼的房间，淋浴间有些狭小，但卫生间整体空间还算可以。早餐是这家旅店的一大亮点，同行的朋友非常喜欢他家的自助水果优格。另外要称赞的是和蔼的管理员女士，入住时非常热情地带我们参观了各间空房以供挑选。有些遗憾的是在我们入住期间，供暖设备似乎发生了些问题，虽然管理员及时找了维修人员，希望现在已经完全修复。
