Kaiholo Hale - Paia

Very nice house and suite. Larger and more encompassing than we expected. There are no onsite services at all so it may not be for everyone. Electronic locks made it easy to get in when we arrived. Yet do remember to leave the entry code in your vehicle or beach bag so as not to forget it as we did. The return call from the property manager was prompt […] so we could regain access. The ONLY negative comment I can make is the bedspread could use replacing and it would have been nice to have the room cooled by the airconditioners before we arrived vs us having to turn them on when we arrived. These two items did not detract from our stay. We had a special request which the property manager was able to accomadate. This was greatly appreciated as well. The place isn't a five-star hotel and a very "home like" cozy place. The owner is a very friendly gentleman who gave many tips and suggestions from the places to see to the restaurants to visit, which just made our stay even more pleasant!

This was a great place to relax after running all over the island all day. The rate was easily comperable to hotels in town but gave you a lot more for the money. It was also nice to come back to dedicated parking and be able to bring in some groceries and grill a steak and relax for dinner rather than eating out all the time. I stayed at Gardenia suite, which is a one bedroom apartment with a living room, 1.5 bath room, and a full kitchen. The place was spotless. It was nice to be able to park the car in a car port. I also enjoyed being able to open the windows and have the breeze flow through the apartment. It felt wonderful. I was happy to find out that the famous "Mama's […] Fish House" was literally down the alley from the apartment (no need to drive.) There is a nice little beach behind the restaurant. The apartment is also close to Baldwin beach and Hookipa beach (famous for wind surfing.) I also liked the fact that it is on Hana Highway, so the drive to both the summit and the southeastern part of Haleakala National is not as long as if one stays at other parts of Maui. Overall, a centrally located nice place to stay in Maui. One potential drawback was that I could not figure out how to work the TV, some instructions may be needed. Read more

Well, this is long overdue, (sorry Anne) but we we're blown away by the niceness of the Plumeria Suite at Kaiholo Hale. I gave it 5's all the way across the board for a reason. We arrived about 10pm, to find that there is no person to let us in. The property manager didn't answer the phone!! Gladly the owner picked up the phone (5am his time) and was able to give us the entry code. We were not contacted ahead of time - bad. The facility was large and comfortable -- a bit "shopworn," Being under the carport made it quite dreary. The location was not near any beach - you had to drive. A lot of noise from other tenants. Very early check-out time was inconvenient. It had all of the amenities needed in terms of kitchen, baths, closets, etc.

Looking for a place to stay in or near Pa'ia, we (dad and two teenage daughters) found Kaiholo Hale by chance on expedia - and found ourselves very lucky: great location, e.g. close to town, near Ho'okipa too, very quiet at night... We did feel at home. Rating no joke. Great friendly staff looking after the place, excellently managed by Anne. Everybody […] is very welcoming and they really do help if needed - even bringing things to the post office and sending them to us after forgetting things behind. The rooms are spacious, comfortable without ac at this time of the year, the kitchen well equipped, beach towels ready. Balconies a great asset too. We definitely would choose it again a next time. I had no network coverage for my cell phone there and their land line didn't work. I notified the woman who manages the property (by email and by phoning her answering machine from town where I did have network coverage) but she didn't do anything to fix it. To access the internet there, you have to enter a security code which is listed on the first […] page of the looseleaf binder in the living room that tells about the unit and recommends restaurants (Casanova in Makawao is an excellent one that I went to). Otherwise it was a pleasant place to stay if you want to be in the Paia area, perhaps a bit overpriced. Read more
