Relaxing birthday break.
Second stay at this hotel and just as relaxing as the first. Staff very friendly and helpful. Felt very pampered.

The room we had -room 16-Prejudice-was small. Barely room to walk around the bottom of the bed to get in on the far side of the bed. Roman blind did not fit the window so as we were facing the road street light filtered in all night. Comfortable bed. Food very good. Sitting area ok but at night very limited as a wedding took over one of the sitting rooms.

A single room for two.
Good location, friendly staff and a fine old building. First impression of the room was good, two large windows with a view of the garden. Although small I thought that further space would be accessible through a door in the room. This turned out to be an adjoining door into next door's room and their conversations were easily overheard. The shower room (no bath) was tiny and you needed to ba a contortionist to get two people in there at the same time. I asked for a change of room but this was not forthcoming. Overall an enjoyable stay and wouid easily have scored top marks if the room had been bigger. Will probably return.

Good but could be better
This hotel in an attractive period building is an interesting blend of modern and traditional styles and generally comfortable however the décor in places is somewhat tired. My room had a chipped bath and peeling paintwork for example. The owners have tried to create an interesting environment however some of the feature furniture and object d'art are rather uninspiring and should perhaps be retired.
