Staff at the hotel is exceptional. The bed was a bit hard. I requested a softer pillow and was accommodated quite quickly. The hotel is in the garment district and was not what I expected. The hotel and staff were exceptional which made up for the location. Our room was exceptional. Roomy!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was traveling with my 6 year old daughter and we had a very nice stay. The location of the hotel was perfect, plenty of places to eat and get coffee within 1 block. "Good place to stay in the city.."
I got a good deal for this hotel through Expedia.. So i booked this initially.. This is a good hotel to stay in the city.. especially for people who want to be close to all the attractions in Manhattan and the shopping area..It is centrally located and easily accessible.. If you step out of the hotel, you have lot of options to all the restaurants.. […] The hotel didnt have a great view.. but the rooms were clean and neat.. We got a compact room, but it had a very pleasant appeal to it... Going by the pictures on expedia, I expected the hotel to be better.. Overall, I would still recommend this hotel to most travelling to NY.. especially if are looking for good clean rooms and that is centrally located. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"staff were professional and accomodating"
I changed rooms because of no drawer space and it was taken care of right away. I didn't eat at the restaurant but it appeared to be nice. I was very comfortable in the room and the lighting was good. The staff at the front desk got cabs for me since not very many went down the street, The location was chosen to be closer to my family's hotel about […] 2 miles away. "Great stay - no real complaints"
This is a great hotel that feels very modern european. It has a community feel to it and a great atmosphere. The staff were very nice. The only issue is that the hotel doesn't have a dine-in food option, late-night food ordering option, or room service. It'd be nice to be able to get food in the hotel and be able to get a drink after 11pm when the bar […] closes on the weekend. Other than that, the room was great and our stay was great. "Great midtown location"
2 blocks from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. Perfect location for what I needed to manage while in town. The hotel is hip and clean, modern, rooms were quiet and well arranged.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hip design, clean rooms, friendly staff"
Our family of 4 had an easy stay. The room was a good size, well designed, & clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We wished that the immediate neighborhood had more to offer by way of coffee shops, but it was very easy to get to the subway/cabs, or walk to nearby attractions.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was clean. Service was adequate. Had to call twice for extra pillows but we got them. Best part was free wi-fi throughout hotel including the room. I suppose the location was fine for NY. Easy access to subway & certainly plenty of restaurants in the area. The street itself is a little sketchy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Bed is a bit hard. Staff was exceptional. Contemporary style A bit of a walk to to time square. Near subway. Located in the garment district. Area is a bit run down but hotel is nice enough.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel in a bad neighborhood"
The hotel itself is nice. As with most hotels close to Time Square the rooms are small. The staff is great. Saw some big rats on the street on the way down to 8th ave. they're everywhere but this neighborhood is full of old and empty buildings as well as construction. The police precinct is right next door so it's pretty safe with the presence. Amenities […] are ok, but the buffet style breakfast was not worth $17.00. Eat at the Tick Tock Diner just around the corner for breakfast down on eighth ave. across from the Mc Donald's on the next corner. For dinner Coopers was very good and as reasonable as any place. It's right on the corner of W 35th and 8th ave. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Walk to the Garden!"
We loved our room in almost every respect. The only draw back was counter space in the bathroom, otherwise it was perfect.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overall, a nice stay"
The TRYP was nice. However when we got there, they put us in a room that had not been cleaned yet. So we had to wait roughly 30 minutes for another room to be cleaned. An upgrade for the inconvenience would have been nice, but that didn't happen. Otherwise, the hotel was fine. We'd probably stay closer to times square next time though.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Clean, modern hotel, good size rooms. Great value."
One of the best values in the city. Convenient location to Penn Station and 8th Ave. subway. Clean, modern and pleasant.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not the best location"
The hotel is just steps away from 8th Ave, but it's a little bit far to be considering itself a 'Times Square Hotel'. W35th between 8th and 9th has no storefronts, so it is kind of an odd location for the hotel, and makes it feel a little distant from the life of the city. Having said that, the hotel was great, and the room was very nice and clean. […] The restaurant was a bit lacking and the service was painfully slow. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My wife and I had a wonderful long weekend in NYC which started out with checking into the Tryp. I wasn't sure what to expect but it turned out to be a great place to stay – great room, wonderful deck, lively bar, pleasant staff – they had it all. It wasn't inexpensive but it wasn't expensive either by today's NYC standards for a good quality room. […] I would recommend the Tryp to anyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location, all-around great hotel. Got a free upgrade to an unbelievable room - top floor, corner room, huge windows on two sides, balcony with Hudson River view - unbelievable. And it was a huge room, very new, modern, SO clean. Staff was excellent too.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel in nice location"
We had tremendous service. First room had disconnected tv and creaky bathroom door, but they changed out room right away without hesitation. Second room was spacious (for NYC) with all the expected amenities. Service was great overall, everyone was attentive and helpful. Location is great as you're quite near Times Square and theater district.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
New hotel, and well decorated rooms- however, our room was very dirty. Face and hand prints from previous guests on the windows, long, dark hairs on the bed skirt, smudges on the shower glass....ew.Genuine Expedia guest review

Clean, quiet, modern, 5 block walk from Times Square. Smaller size room BUT was only there to sleep. If you can get it this cheap, take it. Did not use the Bar/Grill. Easy in, easy out. Secures luggage after check-out if you still need time in the City.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Really Nice except for ..."
The Tryp was, for the most part, exactly what I wanted. Its location was easy enough for an NYC first timer (the fellow with me) to make it there, alone from Penn station while I finished our business call. Its location was also ideally suited to stage a one night and one morning, whirlwind tour of NYC. The property itself was sufficiently appointed […] and clean to be impressive, even if your occasion is for "that special person on a special trip". For my business needs, it was also mostly fine. They provide complimentary, reasonably fast WiFi connectivity (something that our higher end properties in Chicago could stand to learn) whose only annoyance is the spam that they seem to sign you up for upon accepting the terms. HOWEVER, the killer was the valet. We were told the night that we checked in to allow 15 minutes to get a vehicle. The next morning, at check out, the desk staff said, 25-30 minutes. So, first, they have to get their stories straight instead of covering with a lie when they are busy. It took us one hour and fifteen minutes to get our car! We were 1/2 hour late to a critical business meeting as a result. And the staff, aside from saying "sorry", had no ability to impact the situation and no real concern that it happened. Considering all the possibilities in the area, I will not stay at the Tryp again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Just steps away from MSG and Javits Center. Hotel appeared new and spotless, including lobby and guest room. Reception was fast, friendly and efficient. Front desk graciously extended our check-out to 1PM and held our luggage beyond that so we could enjoy some extra city time.We were stunned at the size of the room (311), especially for the price! Very […] large for an NYC hotel accommodation. Room was modern, clean and tastefully decorated. Plenty of room for 2 gals with lots of shoes to spread out. Only thing it lacked was a full length closet, I had a dress and long spring jacket that could not hang in closet, that being said, there were coat hooks on the opposite wall. Shower offered large, attached multi-use shower gel, shampoo, conditioner (I do prefer individual single use containers), understood this being a 'green' hotel. Nice sheets & towels. Free internet with hotel password. Cons, room 311 had a terrible view (if it matters, it didn't for us, as we were only there to sleep & shower) and there was a slight septic smell emitting from the drain in the bathroom during the AM when our neighbors were showering/flushing. Overall this is a great hotel and I recommend it highly. Happy Travels! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location & outstanding service!"
We stayed at Tryp in Manhattan because we were going to see the band Rocket from the Crypt in Brooklyn. Tryp was clean and conveniently located near Times Square, Empire State Building, etc. Alphonzo the concierge was AWESOME! He helped us find a route on the subway that got us right to the concert venue. Keep in mind Google Maps had us going an indirect […] route only because it was based on walking distance of the closest subway station. Alphonzo advised us to walk to a further station to get a more direct route with fewer transfers. Google is nice, but a life long New Yorker is far superior. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good stay for the money, central location"
Stayed one night for business. For the price, the location and quality was great. My room was on the first floor with a view of the brick wall and the wood floors were a bit sticky. "Very modern, clean hotel."
The hotel was in the garment district, which was very convenient since that was the area I wanted to visit. However, it is a few blocks' walk to Times Square, so that is a little misleading. It is close to Penn Station and other subway stations. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. We had a room with a king size bed. The room was spacious enough, […] and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The room facitlities were very good. There was a keurig coffee machine. The bathroom was very modern and clean, plenty of bodywash, shampoo and conditioner in the dispensers. Would highly recommend. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not a nice boutique hotel I was looking for"
When I booked this hotel I thought I was going to be staying in the Times Sq area, as it is advertised as a Times sq. Hotel. This hotel is 9 blocks away! That is not in the immediate area. Maybe if it's 1-2 blocks away then yes, but not when it's 9 blocks. In addition, the room that we booked was by far the smallest room that we have stayed in NYC, […] even though it was labeled as "deluxe." The gym was super small and overall everything was very cramped in. It was not a comfortable place. I booked this thinking it was going to be charming, but next time I'll stick with the Hyatt, Marriott, and big names hotels. It's the same price anyway. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Good hotel but not in the greatest locations. Lots of rats around there.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great place for a great price with great rooms and beds and great people. Just got to find quiet door closers. Maybe that just the disrespectful neighbor. All Good!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Can't say enough about the staff at this hotel -- front desk, bartenders, housekeeping. All friendly and helpful. The room was kept as clean as can be expected (I always re-sanitize with clorox wipes after every visit from housekeeping). But everything appeared very clean when they left. You should also know that this hotel is 1/2 block from the subway […] entrance. We were at the WTC in 10 minutes. It is only one block from Penn station which was a big deal for us coming in on Amtrak. Of course, being that close to Penn Station is a mixed bag--it's extraordinarily busy and full of tourists. We found it a bit overwhelming at times, but so it goes in that area of NYC. The downside--noise, When I first checked in, I was assigned a room next to the elevator bank. The dings from one elevator in particular were very loud so I asked to be moved. I got instead an adjoining room. (all of the _10-_11 rooms numbers all the way up I believe are adjoining) Big mistake. I knew by 5:00 am which of my neighbors was planning to use the shower first, what each person was wearing for the day and where they were going. Very very loud. Also, I'm not sure if I missed a fantastic deal somewhere, but I am puzzled when I hear everyone talk about what a great "deal" this hotel is. Sorry, it's quite expensive. "A hotel room in NYC with space!"

"great hotel, big rooms.... but the bar...."
For nyc the size of the rooms are more than impressive, the front desk staff and bartenders/servers were all outstanding. Clean place great place to stay. Only down side was (similar to other reviews), the bar closes too early, even after asking the food and beverage supervisorit is not possible to get four botles of beer at 10:30 pm.
