Can't say enough about the staff at this hotel -- front desk, bartenders, housekeeping. All friendly and helpful. The room was kept as clean as can be expected (I always re-sanitize with clorox wipes after every visit from housekeeping). But everything appeared very clean when they left. You should also know that this hotel is 1/2 block from the subway […] entrance. We were at the WTC in 10 minutes. It is only one block from Penn station which was a big deal for us coming in on Amtrak. Of course, being that close to Penn Station is a mixed bag--it's extraordinarily busy and full of tourists. We found it a bit overwhelming at times, but so it goes in that area of NYC. The downside--noise, When I first checked in, I was assigned a room next to the elevator bank. The dings from one elevator in particular were very loud so I asked to be moved. I got instead an adjoining room. (all of the _10-_11 rooms numbers all the way up I believe are adjoining) Big mistake. I knew by 5:00 am which of my neighbors was planning to use the shower first, what each person was wearing for the day and where they were going. Very very loud. Also, I'm not sure if I missed a fantastic deal somewhere, but I am puzzled when I hear everyone talk about what a great "deal" this hotel is. Sorry, it's quite expensive. "A hotel room in NYC with space!"
A last minute find. We wanted a convenient place near Penn Station and the subway. Got a lot more than we expected, for a good price. Nicest and largest hotel room we've ever found in New York. Would definitely stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"great hotel, big rooms.... but the bar...."
For nyc the size of the rooms are more than impressive, the front desk staff and bartenders/servers were all outstanding. Clean place great place to stay. Only down side was (similar to other reviews), the bar closes too early, even after asking the food and beverage supervisorit is not possible to get four botles of beer at 10:30 pm. Maybe wyndham […] isn't familiar with nyc's nickname, "the city that never sleeps." All in all it was a good place to stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location-good modern styling"
I chose this hotel because of proximity to Penn Station. The service was excellent. they let me check in to an upgraded room at 11:15AM and depart at 12:30PM (normal check-in 3:00PM, normal check-out 12noon). The hotel had a very modern feel to it and seemed to have either been recently renovated or perhaps have been a new hotel altogether. The staff […] was professional and helpful throughout my stay. "Condition and maintenance"
Rooms were very nice with modern decor and were very clean. The lobby appears dated, furniture in lobby seemed worn. Needs a little facelift so that it is up to par with the rooms. Great service and everyone was very helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to NYC.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A very great stay--walking distance to MSG."
Very clean and contemporary rooms. Very well managed. Friendly staff. The rooms were nice size, spacious by NYC standards. Very comfortable beds. Completely updated and new interiors. I would stay there again without hesitation. A short 5-10 walk to MSG and Penn Station.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Small but clean and comfy"
Location is great. Outside noise a bit of an issue but an overall very enjoyable stay. I've stayed here several time and will again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The proximity to the Jacob Javits Center was excellent. The staff was courteous and very helpful. I would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The street/block the hotel is on is not the best, but is a close walk to Macy's, Madison Square Garden, and lots of other shopping on 35th. Times Square South is a little deceiving, it's about 8-10 blocks to Times Square. The hotel is right next to a police station (good for safety concerns, but not so great when you hear the sirens). The hotel was […] neat, new, & had a friendly staff. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Convenient, nice ammenities, very "euro" feel. Only two complaints: (1) the wood floor in sleep room was dirty--I walked around in white socks, the bottoms of socks were quickly dirty. (2) The housekeeping staff turned off my table lamp, which I had left on in order to charge my Citizen Eco-Drive watch!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"perfect location for javits center conference"
We had a wonderful stay! The room was very big, clean and comfortable with an amazing shower! We had all day Saturday to kill and it was beautiful outside so we walked right into Times Square and did some shopping. The hotel really is perfectly located for the area, walking distance to everything but away from all the noise! Sunday was our business […] day at the Jacob Javits Center and it was literally a straight shot from the hotel. Extremely pleased and will definately return next time I'm in the city! "great hotel room for a family!"
Other than the parking situation, tryp was a great choice for a family trip to New York! The hotel rooms were roomier than most, and the bathroom shower was the best! It is also commendable that the hotel offers free wi fi. The staff was also friendly and eager to help. I would recommend and return to this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was close to everything. Room was smaller than anticipated. It was somewhat noisy. But I would stay there again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, good value"
Over all we enjoyed our stay here; great location convenient to Penn Station and very nice rooms. However, we could never get any sleep in the mornings due to the sound of doors constantly banging on our floor (sounded like the cleaning staff). We were also excited about the tapas bar but were disappointed with the slow service and really mediocre food […] and cocktails. For NYC hotel prices, this place was definitely a great value, but DON'T bother with the restaurant or bar. It was not worth the expensive prices. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Won't help me find lost item"
We had an ok stay at Tryp Hotel. It's the second time we stayed there, it's convenient to Penn Station and has great access to public transport. On this trip we stayed at the Tryp en route to the Catskills for the weekend. We left something in the room and guest services refused to help us because housekeeping was gone for the day. We were only back […] in the city for a few hours and had just enought time to retrieve the item, but unfortunately the staff at Tryp was unable/unwilling to help out out. Because of this, we will probably not be stayin at the Tryp again. There are other hotels of similar quality in the area, and it looks like we'll just need to go there next time. Everything in this hotel is well thought of, practical and convenient, while pleasant. Excellent design and maintenance. Good service. Personnel is attentive and efficient. Only one downside: the heating/AC system in the room is unbearably noisy: one feels like in a flying aircraft. Purpose is clearly energy saving (to discourage guests to heat or cool) […] but keeping the system quiet at 67-68 degrees with bed near the window in this icy winter was not comfortable for tired business travelers, so we had to run the heat. But everything else was excellent in this price range. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed at this hotel for a business trip and the location couldn't be better! The hotel rooms itself were modern, clean, and nicely decorated. "Gotta love the green products!"
We stay at the tryp when we are in the city for business. The staff couldn't be nicer. I love that they use real maple syrup ( I use in my coffee) there's a tapas menu.. Always nice after a long day of walking. Another plus is they use all natural, no animal testing, sulfate free, paraben free.. Products . I no longer need to pack my body wash, shampoo […] & conditioner . Our only complaint after staying many times. I would recommend not staying in a joining room. We could hear through the door. "Good New York Hotel"
This is a very nice, recently remodeled hotel. The neighborhood is very convenient for mid-town. My only complaint is that there was no room to put anything down in the bathroom. There should be counter space or a shelf in ALL hotel bathrooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I am originally from NYC, so when I come home I love to feel like I'm "at home." This hotel was perfect! The location is key to those traveling via Amtrak or Greyhound since it is either within walking distance or one subway train stop away. The appearance of the hotel is very modern and represents the style, class and aura of this amazing city well! "Good location, fun for families"
It is hard to find a large room (with bunk beds to boot) in NYC for under $300. We have stayed at a lot of luxury hotels in NYC and this one fit our needs perfectly. The kids loved the bunk beds, we had 2 queen sized beds and a pullout couch. We would definitely stay here again!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Easy to Penn Station"
Had a bit of a wait (10min) when picking up my checked bag, they might want to staff the front desk a bit better, but overall Tryp has a gorgeous lobby and great sleek rooms that are very good sized for NYC. Would definitely recommend it to friends!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Exceeded my expectations"
And I was expecting a clean room with no fluff and little else. What we got was a large (for NYC) room with 2 bathrooms a keurig machine and everything you really need for a comfortable atay. My husband whined a little about the TV channels until he found something he liked but the shampoo etc dispensers in the bathroom made it so easy for all of us […] to shampoo condition and shower. We had 2 teenage girls so not worrying about the amount of shampoo made a big difference. The restaurant didn't have much kid friendly food and the heat was a little loud but not too annoying. The staff was friendly and the concierge especially well informed and helpful. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to someone looking for a slightly different but comfortable hotel. "One Night/ Last night"
No fridge. Had to cool the beer on the window sill. Horrible bartender. Don't use the valet service. Anything that's not a car is an over-sized SUV. $63.00 / 24 hrs. Manager was very nice. The rooms are great...for some reason we had 2 queen sized beds, and we only needed one. Very clean and conveniently located. Just be careful, the Wyndham and Three […] Tree are the same hotels with different names. If you're not familiar with this part of the city, or from out-of-town, this will be confusing without a fore-warning, since there are 3 or 4 of these hotels within the same two city blocks. And once you know you're there, it's a lot of driving in circles until there's an opening for the valet to take your car. Just don't drive there, period and an !!! I'm not from the city, and the city isn't for me. So there's my bias. Its a nice hotel for a night. NYC prices are ridiculous, though. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Good value and close to the Garden--"
I found the staff and the hotel accommodations very comfortable. There is some construction going on just a block away and the street is a bit dingy--mostly because of the construction--but my room was quiet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Could have been better"
We booked a King-bed room through Expedia and they gave my wife a room with double beds when she checked in. They made the change but seemed to not acknowledge the mistake. The newer room was smaller and next to the elevators. There was no hair dryer in the room and the TV remote was broken. The bathroom was nice but the shower pressure was very light. […] The fitness center was very small. Valet parking was a strange experience. You pull up and there is no one there to help you out. I had to wait and eventually someone 'hotel-looking' came out and I asked where to valet my car. He said he was the guy and then he asked me for my keys and told me to go to the front desk to let them know I was checking in a car. I gave him my keys but felt uneasy as he could have simply run off with the car. It all worked out well but certainly not a reassuring experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Weekend getaway for Kings of Leon Concert"
I booked this hotel with my fiancé for our anniversary trip to NYC to see Kings of Leon at Maddison Square Gardens. Everything about the hotel was great! There was a parking garage directly across the street from the main entrance (a bit pricy at $45 for overnight but it's New York) and only a 5 minute walk to MSG. When we arrived to our room we were […] greeted with a bottle of wine, a plate a fruit and nuts and a lovely card, signed by the staff, wishing us a happy anniversary! It was so kind and unexpected and truly made the experience that much more memorable. The room was clean, bed was very comfy, nicely decorated and even had wood floors! "Spacious room with very comfortable beds!"
My friend and I stayed at the TRYP because we were going to be at an event that would end late, and we didn't want to have to make the commute home. We arrived early and asked if it was possible to check in and they were very accommodating in allowing us to do so. We were even able to upgrade to a larger room with two beds. The hotel bar had a nice […] pinot grigio by the glass and it was a generous pour. We were very happy with the room and our overall experience! We had enjoyed the wine/tapas bar inside the hotel on previous visits and decided to stay overnight while attending a nearby event. Nice clean hotel, friendly staff, good value.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very comfortable beds, nifty decor (the bathroom could use an extra shelf), helpful and pleasant staff, very good breakfast (although pricey), good accessibility to Madison Square Garden (which is what we were interested in). 35th Street is a bit dicey at night (quite dark in the area of the hotel), but getting to the hotel via 9th Ave. was fine (better […] than from 8th). "Extremely thin walls"
I booked 2 rooms for a friend's bachelorette party. And we hardly spent time in the rooms (and we were just 7 quiet girls). Once we separated to go to our other room, the hotel security came to complain about our noise level. First of all, you should know that your walls are thin. Even our loud neighbors (a group of 20-something yr old boys) politely […] asked us to tell them if THEY were being too loud. Anyway, we explained to the staff that we were only in the room for about 1 hr and we just split up to go to bed (we were in our pajamas for goodness sake). This completely ruined a perfectly good night/ The room was cute and the front desk folks were nice...and this just ruined the experience of us. Be warned. The walls are thin and security obviously has no idea how to determine where the noise could be coming from.... Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Nice location near Penn Station. Easy access from airports on trains and convenient to subway. Room was unique "family" configuration with a bunk style bed and two double beds.
