"About what you would expect in Mendocino"
My wife and I stayed here for one night. The room we had didn't look like the picture on their website. It was very damp and dark and the furnishings were very old. Despite how creaking the bed was, it was comfortable. We were a little disappointed until we realized that the whole town of Mendocino is like this.. "Rustic" I guess would be a good word. […] However, the food served for our breakfast was wonderful and not at all what we expected. So overall, if you're not expecting 5 star, you'll do alright. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quaint B&B with a lovely rambling garden."
We enjoyed our stay here and the staff were great. We initially had booked the ocean view room but my mother found the bed too high to get in and out off. The staff were very helpful and were able to give us another room for our stay. We really appreciated that they could accommodate us in this way. After a day's tripping about it was lovely to just […] come back in the evening to sit and relax and enjoy the quiet of garden. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Cute Bed & Breakfast in town"
We stayed 2 nights at the Didjeridoo. Very charming bed & breakfast with nice staff. The breakfast was excellent with scrambled eggs, french toast, and sausage. Location could not be better and the view of the garden was amazing. My only complaint was that we stayed for 2 nights and the room was not cleaned on our second day.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Spent one night on drive from San Francisco to Oregon Coast. Exterior seemed a bit run down, but host was very pleasant and full of information. Room was large and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was interesting with food served buffet style with seating on well worn couches and chairs. This place is very informal.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room was spacious with old-fashioned furnishings. Great breakfasts and the staff was wonderful. Lovely gardens. We had an attractive view of the surroundings but not of the ocean, which we knew beforehand as our reservation was last minute. Easy walking distance of everything in the town. It was important to us that our dog was welcome. More bohemian […] in style than luxurious. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
From the street this Inn is beautiful. But as you walk up to it you can see the lack of maintenance. The lace curtains in a front window are torn; there are cob webs around the windows. Our Room:The carpet is spotted with something white (I am hoping not a mold), carpet was dirty, old and needs to be replaced.I did not walk on the floor without shoes.Other […] than the floor the room was ok, but in need of a decorator. There is a funky smell and the windows did not open.Nothing cozy in that room. Breakfast:There is not a table in the dining room for breakfast. There are chairs lining the walls of the dining area and people had their plates on their laps. There were not enough chairs for all of the guests.Breakfast was uncomfortable and disappointing because of this. We took our plates outside onto a deck next to the dining area. It was a chilly morning and our food got cold quickly. The backs on the chairs were rusted out and poking us. We were there for 2 days and there was a coffee cup left in a planter both days. The 2nd day of our stay we went to a local resturant and had a lovely breakfast. I will not return due to room condition and breakfast seating. There is very little public area in the house. What appears to have been parlors are now Suites that are rented out, thus adding to the overcrowding at breakfast. This Inn has so much potential, but as is; it just wasn't comfortable for me. "Good location and Low Key"
Overall the stay was positive. Be aware that most rooms require climbing stairs and rooms are small (or at least ours was). Breakfast is fantastic and location is perfect for a weekend in MendoGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Do Not Stay Here"
This place was a dump and in total disrepair. The entire place was very dirty and unkept. The bottom of my feet were black when walking around my room. The grounds were so badly maintained there was trash and weeds everywhere. I would not recommend this place to anyone.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beautiful Sea-side escape!"
Came out for a mother/daughter vacation and found this place on hotels.com. Booked it on a whim and it was a great decision! What a beautiful little coastal town! Such a relaxing environment! The Didjeridoo was full of charm and charisma! Wonderful breakfast! We would stay here again in a heartbeat!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Victorian experience"
The hotel is a Victorian mansion built in 1882, within walking distance to everything. However, since it is not a "motel", there is no parking inside the Inn. You'll either have to park in front of the hotel, or across the street from the hotel. For people with a lot of luggage, it is not recommended. However, since we had very little luggage, we didn't […] have any problem. The front yard is a garden and very pretty. The rooms are very nice and clean with updated facilities, yet still trying to give guests a touch of history with some nice touches such as real fireplace or old Victorian furniture. The whole setting is like a big family house with a big living room. The coffee and tea are available to guests and real mugs and cups are in the cabinet. There are also wine glasses! We booked two rooms and a young woman checked in for us. She gave us a room downstairs and a room upstairs. Later, we met the owner, who was living next door and working in the front yard. The owner was a very nice gentleman and offered us an additional room free of charge. The free room he offered us is a huge one in the front looking at the front garden and has a huge fireplace. I have yet had this "upgrade" experience for my years of hotel staying experience! The breakfast is made by the owner and serviced family style when all the guests can sit around a big table with very nice, Victorian style plates. We had real homemade French toasts, baked bacon with honey and nuts and very tasty scrambled eggs. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I felt dooped by my stay at the Dijeridoo. The pictures do not depict the room that we were in. This old house was in bad need of repair. Such a large room and a fireplace which was so cozy in Mendocino weather! Big breakfast in the morning and a wine social with a local artist in the evening rounded out the ultimate Mendocino experience. The manager was friendly and helpful. I will stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Such a great find! Cute rooms and amazing breakfast! Loved this sleepy little ocean town!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was very good. The concierge was very nice and attentive -- but the fold out bed for which we paid an additional $50 was beyond uncomfortable -- she even suggested putting the "mattress on the floor" ...really? Breakfast was delicious except that the owner was pontificating to guests (including European) that Americans had too much education (really??) […] and it was a waste of money -- and he would be glad to hire those with advanced degrees to clean his rooms...no problem!!! That was embarassing as an American person who strongly believes in EDUCATION!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location and price for hotel."
Interesting Bread and Breakfast Inn. Very relaxed. Great location, within walking distance to shops and trails. Nice to have tea and coffee offered all day. Rooms could be a little cleaner..walls washed, carpets cleaned etc. Charles was very nice and informative. Didn't care for some of the homeless hanging around though.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great bang for the buck and amazing breakfast!"
I thought, for what we paid, it was a great bang for the buck. I was prepared, per other reviews, of the grandma like decor and shabby look, so it didn't bother me. Great value. We're not usually B&B customers but we loved the experience at the Didjeridoo. Breakfast we spectacular - both the food and the conversation with other guests. "Victorian Bed & Breakfast"
The size of the room was misrepresented and I feel overcharged for this room. A close friend one street over paid about half as much for a much larger room with kitchenette, dining area and separate bathroom. Our breakfasts were comparably good as were the staff. If this place charged according to the room instead of a flat rate I think they would be […] better received. I heard other patrons giving the same complaint during breakfast. My boyfriend and I had a great stay here. We loved the location just a few minutes' walk from the beach and shops in town. 'The room was dark and under and even though there was a wood stove with the fire prepared, it felt like the room was too small to get that kind of heat going. "a right hotel on a right place"
Even if my room was at the ocean side, the promised ocean view was only available from the other side of the road. the flat-screen TV was in fact a traditional TV, quit big, in a small room, and the DVD player was absent. These are minor defaults that don't really influence the happiness of staying here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not what we envisaged..."
The manager and staff of the "DIdjeridoo Dreamtime Inn" were warm and welcoming.Locationin Mendocino is excellent. What we were offered was very disappointing: our room did not have a closet/wardrobe, chairs or table; the space at each side of the bed was the width of a person; a lamp was not working; there was one sliver of soap; rooms were not serviced […] each day- only if requested, and we found you had to ask each day. "BEWARE! On street parking only!"
Based on the pictures on this site, I was expecting a quaint little Victorian room. I got an average looking hotel room with average newer age decor. The "clawfoot" tub was old and peeling. The towels were clean but had yellow stains. We had to walk around the side of the building to our room and there a little trash about in the side yard. Breakfast […] was delicious but we had to eat sitting in a chair with our plates in our lap. While this is acceptable and expected at Grandma's house at Christmas, it is not at a place where I spent $170 per night. The worst part was there was only on street parking. Someone hit and ran my BRAND NEW Corvette while it parked on the street out front. The young lady that greeted us when we checked in was very friendly and pleasant. I gave the staff 5 stars based on her alone. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Didjeridoo Dreamtime Inn - Nice & Cozy B&B"
Didjeridoo Dreamtime Inn is a B&B that is conveniently located on the upper end of Main Street across from a nice Presbyterian church and away from the businesses. A short five to ten minute walk takes you to the small shops on lower Main Street and the trails of the Mendocino Headlands State Park with beautiful views of the Northern California coastline. […] A five minute walk around the corner and you can dine at Patterson's Pub, which provides excellent food and selection of beers, plus a fun atmosphere (we ate under a moose with a sombrero!). Didjeridoo serves very tasty breakfast ranging from chocolate french toast to cinnamon pancakes, bacon with brown sugar to maple sausage, and eggs du jour, blueberries with yogurt, OJ, coffee and tea. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We had a room with a relatively high bed, so a bit difficult to get on top since we're not tall people. Otherwise, the stay was quite similar to staying with our relatives in 100-year old homes in Indiana. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Hotels.com discribed the room incorrectly"
On the first night we were put in the wrong room. The second night the room was corrected. However Hotels.com discribed the room incorrectly. There was no King size bed, only an average double. It was my boyfriend and I first time staying at a B&B and didn't know what to expect. When we pulled up our first thought was "is it haunted?". Was hoping that feeling would change upon entering, but didn't. It's definitely an old place and the pictures make it look quite a bit nicer than in person. Our tiny room worked for a place to sleep (and fortunately […] had our own bathroom) but was not much to look at for the "discounted" $130 we paid. I would have rather spent that on a best western or chain hotel with HD tv and clearly clean sheets. It was made worth while because we made friends with some of the guest who made our night a blast. (Maybe too much of a blast for the owners). We won't be going back. Breakfast was... Interesting. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My boyfriend and I spent the night here on a birthday whim about a week ago. We called the day of and booked a room for the night- a lovely in-room jacuzzi suite. The inn certainly suficed for the night! We were greated by a nice woman who told us should we need assistance after 8pm, to give her cell a call. Most rooms appeared to be inside the house […] itself, decorated with some nice cozy and homely odds and ends. Our room was outside of the main house, attached. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The jacuzzi was great, and the king size bed was hard to leave it was so cozy. If you're looking for 5-star ammenities, like a giant flat screen TV or massive bathroom, look elsewhere. Although, we were happy with the magnificant views of the Mendocino Coast, TV wasn't on our short to-do list. Room could've used a little paint detail and dusting, but it was charming nonetheless. We'd happily return. Didn't stay for breakfast but it smelled delicious. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming and welcoming access to Mendocino"
Didjeridoo is in a beautiful old 19th century building of all kinds of history, from its early days as a hotel, a short period a century ago as a health retreat, and becoming the sometimes-home of an assistant to Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Breakfasts are tasty, served up for all promptly at 9 am, so if you're one to linger over your coffee before […] waking up and chatting with folks that might not be optimal for you. Still we felt immediately at home and I think all the other guests did too. We booked one day and decided later to extend. We re-upped online sort of late at night and then realized the next morning that it would have worked much better for the managers if we had just discussed this with them earlier. No big deal but I gather the online systems have transaction costs that could have been avoided once we were there. I'll definitely stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Classic Victorian Inn in the heart of Menodcino"
Didjeridoo is a wonderful, well-preserved Victorian gem. The staff was considerate, available when we needed something. Located on Main St., right in downtown Mendocino, shops, galleries, restaurants, and the bluff was just perfect for walking. Formerly owned by artists Emmy Lou Packard and Byron Randall, the home became the perfect location for our […] too-short visit.
