InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort - Da Nang

My husband and I booked 4 nights at the InterContinental Danang but loved our stay so much that we decided to stay another night. Everything was perfect: the sea (clean, limpid, ideal for timid swimmers but with opportunities for snorkelers too), the fine sand beach, devoid of inopportune vendors, the little touches that made our stay so worry-free […] (cool glasses of water by the beach, fresh fruit skewers, etc. to temper the very hot sun; very good tea and coffee selections on the terrace), the lush vegetation and the almost untouched green hills in the background, etc. I could go on but above all, the impeccable service! Everyone went out of his/her way to help and please us, from the fluent English-speaking reception staff to the few English-words gardeners. To sum up, this was the perfect place to relax and let go of all the worries and tension of a full year of hard work. There is one major caveat: the so-called Vietnamese food. If you are a native (as I am and a Southerner), this so-called VN food (with the exception of pho) has no taste: no garlic or onion, no herbs, spices, no high or low notes of sweet and sour or salty. Just plain flat. So the irony is when staying at this InterCon in VN, stick to the European food. They make a mean linguine, fantastic gnocchi, etc. We shall return to this paradise next year. Five years in the making this potentially world-class resort (as of August 2012) is still very much a work in progress. Eighty of the 190 rooms opened in June. While there is much to recommend for this spectacular property, we were not aware the resort was, to put it bluntly, still under construction when making our reservation. That information would […] have likely convinced us to delay our visit until a later date. During our visit the property was swarming with construction workers. The buzzing of saws and the whining of drills could even be heard on the beach. During the daytime the noise is much more discernible and distracting closer to the resort. What is finished is magnificent, tasteful and innovative from the room designs (with outdoor patios and fantastic views) to the unique decor of the Citron restaurant and the Long Bar. A world renown architect has done a commendable job. This resort is certain to set the benchmark for luxury among larger properties in Vietnam. We have visited Aman, Banyan Tree, Four Seasons and many other high-end resorts globally and the InterContinental Song Tra certainly should be compared against those in that league. Since the resort had been open only two months at the time of our visit it is understandable it was undergoing some teething pains -- especially in terms of staff training and experience. Read more

One of the most incredible places I have ever been. The resort was outstanding. I would give it 6 stars. The attention to detail is incredible. The interior design stunning. This hotel looks spectacular and his mostly ready. The rooms are spatious and beautifull and full of of amenities, beds very comfortable, room quiet , safe functional. However when I pay for Intercontinental hotel I want the tradition it comes with. Example a Pina Colada comes sour, I return it and try to explain, then I am giving a long story about how it is different taste than my country. I tried to explain that the milk was sour than got more bla bla. 30 minutes before I had a Pina Colada at the pool and strangely enought that was excellent. Free shuttle now that is a big plus, it premits you to travel to Da Nang and Hoi An and get dropped off anywhere. The resort is located on a beautiful bay overlooking the hills. The pools, the one at the bottom very nice maybe a little small and the rooftop one closed for repairs. Food 1 word excellent. Beach excellent. Checkout painless. Read more

Ein Hotel der Spitzenklasse für alle Architektur- und Designfans. Das Hotel ist bis in kleinste Detail durchkomponiert - Bill Bensley at its best. Zimmer war grosszügig bemessen und mit einer grossen Terasse. Wunderschöne Einrichtung und ein traumhaft gemütliches Bett. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr herzlich und mit dem Service waren wir auch zufrieden. […] Privatstrand ist top, auch das Angebot an Kajaks und etc, die kostenlos zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Frühstück ist wunderbar, ebenfalls die Pizzas im Barefoot. La Maison wurde erst nach unserem Aufenthalt eröffnet. 바닷가 절벽에 새로 지은 리조트 호텔이라 시설이나 경치는 모두 좋습니다. 프론트 데스크에서 체크인을 하고 트램을 타고 내려가는 것도 재미있습니다. 종업원들도 영어는 서툴지만 무척 친절하구요. 그런데 프론트에 있는 직원들은 아직도 더 훈련이 필요할것같군요. 실수에 실수. 서툰 일 처리...답답하고 짜증나서 다시 오고 싶은 마음이 줄어들었습니다.

2012. 8. 2. 다낭 인터콘티넨탈에서 1박을 했던 여행객입니다. 모든 면에서 최고의 리조트라는 명성에 걸맞는 것같은 데 한가지 아쉬움이 있네요. 제가 다낭 인터콘에서 8. 3. 체크아웃하기 전에 그곳에 있는 롱바에서 점심식사를 하고 제 신용카드로 결제를 하려는데 담당직원의 실수로 베트남화로 결제를 해야 함에도 미달러표시로 결제를 하는 바람에 제 카드 사용내역을 취소하는데 무척 애를 먹었습니다. 제가 영어가 능숙한 사람도 아닌 터에 그곳 직원들조차 영어가 능숙하지 않아 그런 일이 벌어진 것 같은데 앞으로는 언어소통에 대한 교육이 좀더 필요하지 않았나 싶습니다. 그럼 좋은 하루되세요.
