Greeted by a wonderful lady who accommodated us when we ended up having 2 more travelers with us! The Locanda Alambra was a great place in a great location! Right in the center of Genoa and only a 5 minute walk from the hotel to the train! I enjoyed the stay, with the exception that there were 2 twin beds in our room, instead of one full and that made […] sleeping a little uncomfortable for us. Other than that, service was clean, available and she was ready and willing to help with anything. She also provided us with a map and gave us the opportunity to have discounted pizza at a place down the street. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Lady on reception very friendly but couldn't find my expedia booking. Hotel manager said I could go to their other hotel and pay extra for a room or take the smallest room in this hotel for a slight reduction. Being late in the day i decided to stay and take the small room for a slight discount. The room was the width of the door! Terrible and for their […] mistake I should never have had to pay for my nights stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Kleines Familienhotel in perfekter Lage"

We spented one night in Locanda Alambra. The price was cheap compared to the room quality. The place is a beautiful old building just next to the main square of Genova. The room was clean and common areas beautiful. The shared bathroom didn't disturb us. Would go again!
"Great location for a good price"

I did visit Genoa in July 2014. I've booked room in Locanda Alambra via one of booking site. I was little bit worried if it will be fine place to stay as the price wasn't high and photos of the hotel didn;t look very well. Fortunately I was positively surprised from the beginning of my stay in Genoa. Locanda Alambra is about 10 minutes walk from Genoa Brignole railway station on one of the main street that leads to historical centre of the city. Along Via XX Settembre there are many shops, boutiques, cafes, restaurants etc. It's noisy only during the day when it's full of people walking around. The hotel is localized in beautiful historical building on the second floor. It is quite small with family atmosphere that allows You to fully relax after whole day of sightseeing. Common area are furnished with nice rustic furniture which are well composed with the whole building. The staff was very pleasant and helpful however their english wasn't very good, but it wasn't the problem. Locanda Alambra has great terrace that overlooks the street. You can eat there a breakfast which can be ordered for 5 euro p. person. My room was simple and matching to the rest of the building style. There were small refrigerator, tv set, big closet, small desk and very clean bathroom. There was also wifi signal but it wasnt very strong. I have to go to the reception hall to get proper connection. The window view was not very spectacular as it was on the courtyard. But it's not the problem as thanks this it is not very hot in the morning and the street traffic won't wake You up very early. To sum up The Locanda Alambra is very good price - standard deal. It's great starting place to visit Genoa as well as whole ligurian coast. It's family atmosphere allows You to feel comfortable and fully relax during your stay. I can definitely recommend this place.
"Excellent location, loads of charm and a nice price."

I had a great week in the Locanda Alambra. The location is truly excellent, with all La Superba's main attractions within walking distance. Sure, the place may be a bit noisy and worn, still not more so than comparable places I visited in Rome and Paris. My room - €30 a night - was nicely fitted with all wooden arts & crafts like furniture, and was cleaned every day. I suppose when one prefers total quiet, airco and nondedescript hotel interiors to the charm of a place like Locanda Alambra, well take out your wallet and go to a Best Western instead! Personally I preferred spending my money in the bars and eateries of the glorious Centro Storico. The location is also very safe and well lit, so don't worry about getting back after a few drinks. The staff was on site 24/7 and very attentive. Truly recomended!
"Beautiful and great hotel"

I stayed 2 nights. My room has beautiful terrace inside and outside. It is very big and cozy. Staff whom I met are kind and friendly. Location is the best. I walked to good places in Genoa. A market is nearby. I miss Genoa and Locanda Alambra.
"Friendly, great value and homely."

Great place to stay! The staff were very welcoming, the room was comfortable, and the location was great for exploring the city or catching a train to riviera towns. There's a great market just down the road too! Breakfast is served on a balcony overlooking a bustling street - could be more tranquil but you get to soak up the atmosphere of the city in the early morning sun. My one issue was with the comically creaky bed and super thin walls (couples beware).
"Good loacation but sleeping was bad due to windy weather"

Good location. Was hard to sleep because was windy and doors made terrible noise. Bed were to soft for me. They offer laundry service, breakfast 5EUR (tea, coffee, croissant, cereals, milk, jams and ets)
"decent, could be easily improved"

This hotel was very charming in an old appartment building and maybe family owned. It was very easy to find by foot as opposed to another review I saw... It' s the biggest street in genoa and a huge neon sign saying Locanda Alambra could eat you! It is perfectly located at the junction between new and old city center. No parking but public parking piccapietra is 100m away for 20euros/24h. No breakfast also adds up to not so much of a good price deal in general, but probably good for Genoa. Here is what should be improved: change the doors and windows to something that soundproofs. Change the room door lock in which the key falls. Change the mattresses, they are 20 years old! Get a proper ringing system that if you are roaming around the hotel (a wireless portable bell must exist), you hear it without waking the other guests. Here when no one is at the desk, the bell rings for the whole appartment but not very loud, so the host does not hear it on the first try. I would not come back until some easy improvements are made.
"Great location with moderate price"

Hotel is very comfortable located in center of Genoa, very nice hotel owner Vito and his own excellent wine! Great room #6 with high ceiling, some decoration in old Italian style. Few things to improve - better placement on the Google map, I've spent 30 minutes trying to find it. No parking, but Vito magically park a car for additional 25 euro.
"Very Cute Hotel"

We enjoyed staying at Locanda Alambra once we figured out the street numbering system in Genoa and found the place! Vito was really welcoming and helpful. The rooms are so Italian and we felt like we were staying in a palace. the location is absolutely great, right in the main shopping street although this does mean quite a lot of street noise. The walls are a bit thin too but as the other guests were quiet that didn't really matter. The bathroom was clean and tidy. We were also able to leave our bags there after we had checked out.
"Great place to stay"

We stayed for three nights in July and absolutely loved it. Vito's (the owner) hospitality is fantastic and nothing is too much trouble for him.The beautiful outdoor terrace where we had breakfast every day is a gem. The Locanda is located in a beautiful old building with high ceilings and mosaic tiles on the floor. It has a welcoming feel which is complimented by Vito's friendly, helpful attitude. We really felt at home from the moment we arrived. The location is brilliant and we were able to walk everywhere even with two small children. Yes its a bit noisy at night because its located on Via XX Settembre which is one of Genova's main streets but we would definitely stay again without hesitation. (In fact, we extended our stay In Genova partly because we enjoyed it there so much.)
