"Perfect wedding, reception and service!"

We held our wedding here last May (sorry for the delayed review) and everything was perfect! We were a group of almost 50 people staying here for 2 nights. First off, we are from Canada, and it was pretty effortless to organize our special day from abroad. Communications were efficient and normally very quick. We were able to easily sort out all the details for the ceremony and for the reception. I don't recall any request we had being denied. Mark was very willing to help us out in any way possible. We rented out (probably all) the rooms that had a view on the water, and all the rooms were very nice and clean. We had the big suite, and it was perfect. We were greeted by Mark and his team who were very nice and helpful. As it was a wedding and we had a big group with us, we had a ton of little questions and requests, and we had nothing but great service in return. The reception was great, and there were even some surprises that we didn't expect. Once again, Mark was there to make sure every little detail was taken care of. The meal for the whole group was great! The service was perfect. And the bar service was great also. We had hired a band to play for us, and the reception room was perfect for that. We played a round of golf at the gold coast golf resort, and we were treated perfectly. The golf course is beautiful and the manager at the club house was really really nice. At the end, since we had gone over by cab (its a 5 minute drive), the manager had an employee from the golf course drive us back to the hotel! We didn't have time to try the pool or the bowling, but we well have to go back! The breakfast was very good as well! So over all our two day stay for our wedding was awesome! We couldn't have asked for better! It was a perfect way to start our 2 weeks in Ireland!

Wow. What an amazing destination, it's right on a the most beautiful beach. Even if you're weary traveller you will be drawn out to this beautiful beach to be revived. The hotel in fairness is no Hilton but don't mistake that as a bad thing. The rooms were comfortable, not too trendy but you will spend your time looking out at the beach anyway. The staff are fabulous and we couldn't praise them enough. Everyone was so genuine , friendly and accommodating. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Dungarvan or surrounding towns. The taxis were very reasonable too.
"excellent family beach hotel"

We have just returned from a two night stay. We were two families with teenage boys looking for a short break before the new term. From check-in to departure we were not disappointed, the boys loved the pool, gym and bowling. We loved the fact that there were no gaming arcades around and when the boys were not inside they were on the wonderful beach or playing ball at the nearby pitch. For the adults a great time was had by all. Yes we would agree that the hotel is a but bit old fashioned but this adds to its charm. It is spotless and well cared for. Breakfast is as good as any 4 star hotel we have visited. The only criticism that we would make is the bar food menu, it is very limited with no steaks on offer. We will definitely return but for a longer stay. A special thank you to Breda at reception for all her help.

During our stay in the hotel we found it very pleasant. The breakfast was fab, the bedroom was clean except for 3 spiders that I caught and put them outside so my little darling could sleep, the sea view from the bedroom was very relaxing and the swimming pool was nice. I love the parking facilities and the little Newsagent shop, just right across the hotel. I like the fact that the beach is just right there in front of the hotel and no need to drive to get to the beach . However I didn't like the choice of food at the bar it was quite poor, but you could go to Dungarvan by car which is only ten minutes and go to the coffee shops and restaurant around. And if you bring your bikes you can find a long track so you can exercise and enjoy the view. And the staff is very friendly and helpful. And overall we had a lovely time.

Staff and lcoation make this hotel a little gem

We stayed one night here. The hotel is about a 10 minute drive out of Dungarvan in a very quiet setting on the sea, offering lovely views from the room. The hotel looks a little tired and the rooms are very basic, but it was fine for a night and very reasonably priced. There is a takeaway shop and a newsagent right there, but thats about all. And the beach of course!

This is a hotel that will suit people with kids first and foremost - it's the kind of place where kids can run about indoors and there is a playground in the grounds. It's lacking in anything special for people on business or romantic getaways...

A throw back to when I was a child - the hotel has probably not been renovated since the 80's. The room was clean - the shower was good and the location was fantastic. Got a great view from our room but ventilation was an issue and a ceiling fan would have been handy. Opening the windows was an idea but being on the main road and right over the bar mean there was a great deal of outside noise. We did not use any of the facilities so cannot comment on them. Its location is its greatest asset and the town of Dungarvan is not far if you are looking for decent food.

My family and I travel to the Clonea Strand each summer for our holiday get away. This was our 10th visit to this hotel. This year we had the wonderful scorching temperatures which made our stay at the Clonea Strand Hotel a perfect location for our holiday this July. As with every year the Management and staff at the Clonea Hotel are so helpful and can't do enough for you. The breakfast / dinners are always excellent. My 4 year old son is quite picky with food and they couldn't have done enough for him. My dad also is on a specific diet and the staff done all they could to cater for his needs. The hotel is in a perfect location just on the beach, so a 2 min walk and you have the sand on your feet! I would recommend this hotel to anyone and especially those with children, as the hotel has an indoor swimming pool, ball place, bowling alley and pool tables, games etc. we look forward to our visit next year :-)
