Fort Conde Inn - Mobile

I enjoyed my stay very much. I was hesitant at first to stay downtown in Mobile at a B&B but I am glad we did. The house was beautifully restored located on its own private block. We able to park on the street next to the inn with no problems. Our room in the attached carriage house was beautiful and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. […] Our breakfast the next day was excellent and they had free Wi-Fi. I can't wait to see what they do with the rest of the block. Ambience alone is worth the price of admission! Staff is extraordinarily pleasant and accommodating...how about seafood eggs Benedict for breakfast? Bed and pillow by far the most comfortable I've ever had in a hotel. As we travel much to Mobile, this will be our permanent place to stay!

Much effort has gone into the development of this restoration property into a lovely establishment. I was quite comfortable with just a few thoughts to improvement. All lighting in the main rooms is ceiling oriented. I neither had a light on the desk nor could I read in my bed before sleeping. How can one plug in the I-phone at the bedside for our alarms? […] The rooms are sparsely furnished and scatter rugs(no under-carpet) on the hard wood floors lent to the room a hollow, rather noisy feeling. There was a fireplace with a gas jet in place but no gas logs. The art work (all for sale) was haphazardly placed. I am not a duvet person...they are either too hot or if thrown off...the light sheet that is left is too cold. I would have appreciated a light blanket in the closet as an option. All is tastefully done but there does seem to be a lack of a certain air of hospitality. The manager was quite accessible by cell phone but was no where in sight during my stay. The public space lights were all on and blazing through out the evening but the curtains were not drawn and I felt rather on display. Perhaps a more thoughtful and experienced person in charge would do the trick to make it an excellent stay. The breakfast was a delight thanks to great work from Chef Robbie. Absolutely the BEST place we have every stayed and we have traveled a lot. The chef cooked breakfast, the bed, the fresh coffee and the history...oh, boy, it was all great. Thanks to the owner for saving this beautiful lady.

Fort Conde Inn is a restored ex-brothel in the once-neglected historical district of Mobile, only a short block from both old Fort Conde and the Mobile Visitor Center. It has been exquisitely restored and furnished. The rooms are large and spacious. The bed, bathroom and terrycloth bathrobes are 5-star. AC is individual to each room. If you are put off by the fact that this part of the historical district is completely surroundted by a freeway interchanage, please know that the rooms have been sound proofed and traffic noise was not a factor. Our city tour guide the next day informed us we had been sleeping in the allegedly haunted bedroom, but our ghost was very hospitable, and we had a sound sleep! (Unlike Charleston and Savannah innkeepers who often charge more for staying in hauted rooms, Fort Conde Inn practices equal-opportunity room pricing!.) Read more

The stay at the Fort Conde Inn was a refreshing break from the standard chain hotels. The unique environment, proximity to downtown, the cleanness of the room, and the first class breakfast were all great. I definitely plan on making the Conde Inn my first choice when visiting Mobile.

I stayed here one night on business because it was more affordable than the big chain hotels nearby. The Forte Conde Inn was amazing - delightful and attentive staff, updated rooms with modern fixtures Pottery Barn linens and super comfy beds. Breakfast (included in the price of the room) was made-to-order and it was amazing! I'd come back here in a […] heartbeat, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to Mobile for business or pleasure.
