"This is the worst hotel ever!"
The wifi does not work, the people are rude and don't speak anything but italian. The breakfast was a piece of bread with ants all over it and a tiny cup of coffee. No soap or shampoo provided. She charged us 5 euros for a phone call to a local phone and she didn't give us the change back from the payment. She went into our room and stole items from […] our bag. It was the worst experience and i wish i could get my money back because i was robbed! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not what I expected"
The room was clean and we had fresh bedding and towels every day. However, the woman working spoke no english and they did not take credit cards. This made it rather difficult to get into the hotel and negotiate our stay. It was also very hard to find the hotel, as it only had a tiny call button like a name on an apartment building. There was no air […] conditioning and the wifi did not work in the room, only in the lobby. The location was great, very close to everything, but it was rather noisy as well. "Not as described and gross"
The room lacked a terrace, television, and adequate access to wifi - all of which were advertised as included. It was generally not well kept, with hair and dirt in the carpet. With so many guests sharing one bathroom (which was also where the host did our dishes), it was unavailable for showering and was rather dirty as well, with noticeably dirty […] towels. As the room was not clean, and I could not take a shower, it was a fairly miserable experience overall. Breakfast was included, but not fresh. Host is talkative (in Italian), but not able/willing to take responsibility for conditions of room/ hotel. Good location though. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, large room, not well maintained"
While this hotel had the location we needed (south of Arno, near Ponte Vecchio), it had some issues. Bathroom down the hall was not very clean. When toilet paper ran out, it took most of the day for it to be replaced. Shower doors would not close all the way and fell off multiple times. Our room was cleaned after the first night, but not after the 2nd […] or 3rd nights (beds not made, trash not emptied, etc.) Breakfast was adequate, staff seemed nice. Absolutely no English, so communication was difficult. There was a small elevator, which was wonderful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Stuff doesn't make effort to communicate with you if you don't speak italian.Genuine Expedia guest review
While this place was difficult to find, it ended up being a great quality place to spend the night! The beds were soft and comfortable, the entire place was clean and cozy, and the breakfast was especially nice. While the woman running the place does not speak English, we still seemed to manage with communication just fine. All this for a great price […] and location very close to the Ponte Vecchio, with easy access to the city by foot. Overall, a great stay! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Terrible experience in this hotel"
I strongly recommend people not to stay here in this hotel. The owner is really a theft for sure. I have stayed there for 2 nights, and when I check out, I asked the owner to take care two of my luggages. At the time, I am sure there is no other guess in the "hotel". I put the two bags in the lobby, and the owner she is there all the time. I come back […] after 4 hours to take them, then discover that I lost my two perfumes when I came home. There is nothing valuable in the bags, just clothes, shower gel, shampoo... and the two perfumes are at the bottom. They are not expensive, but the way she acted is really really terrible... Besides, the hotel itself is not like a real hotel. It is just an appartement, toillet and bathroom is collective. The owners themselves can not even speak a work in english or french, then no way to communicate. The price showing here does not include the tax, which is 4eu/person/night. neurotic staff, that made the stay not so comfortable. good location but not easy with car.
Unfortunately we were not happy with our stay at all. We had booked an apartment with private bathroom but ended up with a shared bathroom. The lady did not speak a single word of English. It was dirty in the bathroom and the breakfast really poor. The location was the only good thing, close to lively Piazza Santo Spirito and the Ponte Vechio bridge. […] Although a lot of noise from the street. No airconditioning. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Uncomfortable. Hostess totally doesn't speak English. Breakfast is very meager. The room is spacious, but the furniture is very old. You can't sleep all night, all night because of the the street noise of cars and singing sitizens. The next day after breakfast we decided to take a walk on Florence. Back at 11 am for our baggage found that our room was […] already prepared for other travelers and our luggage is in the hallway. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

As most of people here admit, the location of the hotel is the only positive point. We have terrible experience with the checkin and other stuffs, since the owners cannot say even a word in English or French. The worst part came when we left our luggage there in the lobbies. The owner (for sure, since at the time, there is no other guest) stole our perfumes. It's not expensive, but made me really angry since it's a present. I really want to get back there to talk with those THEFTS, someday when I could speak Italian!

This "B&B" is in an excellent location, but in my experience that is really about the only positive of our stay here. We couldn't get out fast enough the following morning. The shared bathroom experience was the worst. Thankfully we showered the night before, but trying to get in the restroom in the morning was impossible! The owner/host had to keep knocking on the door to try to hurry people out and even then there was a line to get in. I wouldn't be surprised if others had accidents or used the sink in the apartment-style rooms to relieve themselves -- it was that bad. The room was sweltering in June and the noise from the street below with the incessant motorcycles revving up and down the street until daybreak made it nearly impossible to sleep. You have to choose between leaving the window open for air and mosquitoes or closing it for a sauna. A fan would have been nice. The breakfast in the morning was not appetizing whatsoever. Basically a stale piece of pre-packaged bread and funky tasting coffee. I'm sorry to be so negative, but the experience wasn't good. We skimped on some hotels during our trip to Europe so we could splurge on others. Still love Florence, though! Oh, by the way, the WiFi password was ridiculously long! 24 random letters and numbers that made it inevitable to get wrong two and three times in a row. It was enough to make you want to give up. The signal was only good in the reception area.

Yes, this is a budget hotel (we paid about $100 USD for the night) but that does not excuse the misleading room description in my reservation ( no television or wifi available in room as described) and the overall lack of management. The hotel was not clean and the shared bathroom was no where near efficient enough to host all the guests. Towels in the bathroom were dirty and not changed during our stay. The floor in our room was also not swept, and full of hair from previous guests. The breakfast was poor and not worth eating. Dishes are also washed in the dirty bathroom- just unacceptable.

Great location a few steps from Ponte Vecchio! Should have a phone to contact them on arrival as it is not clearly stated on the bell what apartment they are in. We stayed in the 3 bed room right next to the entrance and it was very comfortable and clean. Our trip was right before New Year's and it was fairly quiet, good night sleep. You should get up earlier to get the whole breakfast (fresh fritata in the morning). They provide towels and keys for rooms (even they are not very easy to use). No curfew. We recommend it.

Antica Dimora San Jacopo is in a fantastic location, just a couple of minutes walk from the Ponte Vecchio. Our room was very spacious with simple but pleasant decor. We were sharing a bathroom which was large, clean and well equipped. The lady hotelier doesn't speak English but is incredibly friendly and we found communicating with her much easier than we expected (we only know a handful of Italian words). I'd recommend paying cash as we were unable to pay by card on arrival. We would recommend this place to anyone.
"Part great, part terrible"

My stay here was not overly great, but it was not terrible either. There were just a few problems that made my stay here very frustrating, but I want to start with the good parts first. The hotel is situated in a great area that has access to all of the major sites in the city within 15 minutes from the front door. I thought the room was very large for the price and the air conditioning worked very well. It was the cheapest I could find in Florence for the peak season (end of June), and I was pleased with what I got for my money. However, I was so frustrated with the staff's inability to speak English at one point I almost left to find another hotel. I am not saying that every place should accommodate me as an English speaker, but at least basic English would be nice. The most frustrating issue was paying for the hotel. Upon arrival, my friend's card was rejected because they do not take American cards without security chips. The lady said bring the money in cash tomorrow when we found an ATM. When we got up the next morning she demanded that we pay her all of the money even though we had not been out for the day to find any. We had a tour reservation at 10 AM (this happened at 9:35) and had no time to get any money. She kept yelling at us in Italian and could not understand our dilemma. Finally, I had to give up all of the cash I had which was just enough to cover our stay. We almost missed our tour and I was stuck without cash for the whole day. This lack of communication also affected breakfast and any communication throughout our stay. We always felt like children getting lectures about how to properly do things (like how to cut the breakfast bread properly) and things that were off-limits (like filling up our own water bottles in the bathroom). In English this would not have been a huge issue, but when it takes 20 minutes to decipher it in Italian, it just makes the stay a bit unpleasant. So, my final advice is if you speak Italian, then this is a great place on a budget. If not, I would probably not stay here to save yourself from translation frustrations.

Accomadations were top notch, almost felt like a hotel. The room had a/c. Great location in heart of city. Staff was friendly but were mostly hispanic and did not speak english and only occasional broken italian. CONS: one toilet and one shower for floor of up to 20 guests and NO kitchen facility.
