Spent weekend with girlfriend for LSU/Auburn football game. Older hotel, but very well maintained. Great location for everything we wanted to do. Great views of the beach. Very nice place to stay for the money.

I recently stayed at Island House Hotel, I had never been to Gulf Shores so did not have a clue about hotels that was there. When I looked at the pictures my first thought was nice. I booked the hotel with Hotel.com personnel, normally I just click but for some reason I wanted more details. He describe the holtel as nice, clean great location and view, […] okay I was all in booked it. Exicited about my finding I showed my girlfriend the pictures, she started reading the reviews. She found this one review that was 11 pages long , just kidding but it was long and said the place is a dump. Well it was already booked with a 3 day cancel notice and it was 2 days to the trip. From check in to check out, Island House exceeded our expectations. We ended a 3 week road trip with two nights and wished we would have come sooner. We lucked out with a corner King on the 8th floor that had spectacular views from four windows and a lovely balconey. The room was HUGE, spotlessly clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Overall […] the hotel was immaculate and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. The beach was lovely and the pool was large and sparkling. My only note is that the WiFi would not work at all, but we were on vacation and really didn't care. We were very impressed by our room. The beds were wonderrful.The staff was so hospitalble and courteous. The view was great. We needed extra towels and called thedesk and the lady was therein 5 minutes with extra towels. We will be back. The pool was so clean and the beach was clean and yu could rent chairs with umbrella by the hour or the day. The […] young man came by every so often so sweep the sand off the bottom of the chaise and would adjust the umbrella for us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Read more

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. We were given an end king room that was huge. We had a view of the front, side and balconey on the back facing the ocean. ps all rooms have the ocean view balconey. The room had robes and a chaise lounge. On a 10 day road trip, this was my favorite room. We had a coffee pot, and fridge but no microwave. Also no free […] breakfast but a resturant on site. sorry we never ate there. Very nice hotel if you are not a smoker. Couldnt even smoke on the balcony. If caught, you're card would be charged an outrageous amount. Also there was no microwave or refrigerator.

The Island House Hotel was a good hotel overall. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were given a "penthouse" room on the 9th floor. The room was large and clean. The bed was comfortable and furnishing were in good condition. Plumbing was lacking though. Bathroom faucet was difficult to turn off and the tub was a very slow drain so that you were […] ankle deep in water by the end of a shower. The Wifi in the room was ok but not for an iPad. On a laptop it kept a connection. It wouldn't on an iPad. The restaurant served breakfast and lunch only. We only ate their once for breakfast. The food was very good food but the decor is dated. The lobby furnishings had stained cushions. Biggest thing: Don't go to Gulf Shores area at Christmas! The majority of the area restaurants are closed and the hotel only had 4 rooms occupied. I would consider staying at the Island House Hotel again but before I did, I would look at other options in the area. There was nothing about our stay there that was a standout experience. Read more

Island House Hotel was right on the beach, close to popular dining restaurants, and popular night-life spots while remaing very affordable. Very pleasantly surprised by the hotel since I know it's been around awhile. Fabulous location, very clean and comfortable rooms. Pools clean and sparkling, and the beach is right there. Would be nice to have mini-fridge, but a great value for the money. I would stay again, and I recommend it.
