I wasn't fully aware of the bed sizes when I made the reservation so this isn't really the fault of the hotel but I thought I was getting two (American standards) full size beds. In fact there were two beds that were larger than American twin size beds but not as large as a full size bed. The bed is only large enough for one adult. Hotel was very nice, the staff was more than capable of helping tourists figure out what to do and where to go while in the area. The restaurant did leave a lot to be desired though. If you want to eat there are plenty of quality food establishments within walking distance with much better prices.

It was our first time at the Royal Park but second time in Kyoto. Really great location. Right off Kawaramachi on Sanjo. Lots of buses and also a very short walk to both Sanjo subway stations (just down the street on other side of bridge). Karasuma is also only 1 big ave away from Kawaramachi (Citibank is on Kawarasuma and Shijo; lots of buses stop […] around there too and it is very walkable to Royal Park even with a stroller). On rainy days, Teramachi (covered arcade) is also just 1/2 short block away, and leads directly to Nishiki Market. Shinshindo Boulangerie downstairs makes a great variety of delicious pastries and sandwiches for takeouts, and is a great cafe for sit down service. Hotel rooms are not big. Many face the back alley, so it was hard to tell if it's morning or not yet. Not much space to hang clothes or store bulky luggages. We traveled with a 2 year old and a stroller. It was very comfortable for all of us, but we made an effort to stay organized so our child has enough space to play. Read more

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, and I would stay here again. Very convenient location. Not even 5 minutes from the bus stop. A few yards from shopping stores, restaurants, etc. And best of all the very friendly staff. I can't say enough about their professionalism, and overall "helpful" attitude towards their guest. 5/5.

I loved this hotel. It is centrally located in Kyoto. Only a small walk to several major temples and attractions. The room size was a bit small for 3 travelers ( 3 beds ) but the hotel was very chic and modern. Loved it! Lots of good breakfast options that are close. Perfect central location for shopping, dining, strolling on the river, and an easy subway ride away from many attractions. it was so fortunate that the staff at this hotel were so honest. they found my belongings and mailed it back to me. the hotel room is also very spacious and clean. modern furnishing. quiet neighbourhood. hotel staff speak reasonably good english. very pleasant experience in general.

We requested a non smoking room on Expedia, however, when got a smoking room. We told the front desk that we book a non smoking room, her response was the hotel is out of non smoking room, and they have cleaned the room down as much as possible. How annoying is that!

The Kyoto Royal Park Hotel is beautifully designed and well-run - a real bargain. It's near a subway stop and just a few stops away from the main Kyoto station. The guest laundry was a helpful amenity, as was a convenience store just around the corner.

A friend and I spent 3 nights at the Royal Park Hotel in Kyoto. Loved the decor, friendly and helpful staff, wonderful location near the train station and a beautiful neighborhood. It's only two blocks from the river where you can stroll the banks and where we enjoyed the cherry blossoms. Plenty of good restaurants nearby, and you can't beat the breakfast […] at the boulangerie next door. Beautiful hotel. 3 of us stayed in a Twin Deluxe. The room was a bit tight with the extra bed and on the second night we had to ask them to remove the extra chair and side table. There is also very little storage space but for the quality of the hotel and the location, it was really an exceptional value. I would definitely stay here again.
