Lovely oceanfront resort with large bungalows right on the water. The rooms are very nice and the baths huge with both shower and soaking tub. The large porch overlooking the water is the most relaxing spot ever. The service is very attentive and warm, and the meals are fabulous --everything is very fresh. We enjoyed the spa services and the highlight of our stay was sailing in a dhow out to the reef to go snorkeling. Plan to stay in the resort and enjoy it because there is nothing in the nearby village. We were perfectly happy to take advantage of all the Lodge had to offer and could very happily extended our stay there. I was delighted with our choice and very glad we decided not to stay in Stonetown.

The Zanzibar Palace hotel is located slightly behind the port, a bit odd but actually it turns out to be convenient. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful, pointed us in the right direction looking for local amenities, helped us book a spice tour, and helped us trouble shoot when one of our transportation arrangements failed.

Best thing about this hotel was the friendly and helpful staff. The receptionist upgraded us for no charge to a sea view chalet from garden view. The cleaning lady left a towel design on the bed with flowers scattered about every day, then turned down the bed at night. The breakfast was simple but adequate. Dinner was exceptional as part of halfboard booking -- whether a dinner buffet or we ordered off the menu. Note that the dinner buffet quality may have been due to the Christmas holidays. Pool was crowded around Christmas because the hotel allows locals to swim for a fee -- not a problem per se and made for more pool atmosphere, but the music was way too loud. Public beach is not very good due to the very narrow strip of sand, the rocks and barnacles past the sand, and the shallow slope which makes it is very tidal affected. The hotel's pool area would be enhanced if they replaced the rough grass along the area by the sea with soft sand -- since the beach is of poor quality, good sand is needed somewhere. The hotel had two kayaks that we rented for a very reasonable price. There is a small village next to the hotel and the variety of boats and people made for some great pictures. It is best to get the phone numbers of several taxi drivers you can call. The hotel does need to invest in continuing upgrades as some areas are showing a lot of wear and degradation. However, this was an overall a good place to stay as long as you find a 3-1/2 star hotel acceptable.

I stayed @ the hotel for the christmas holiday with my friends. I can say that the hotel is more than value for the money. Good points for us were the hotel condition & service, staff, meal, view @ the rooftop restaurant. Location is close to the beach but little far from the market, if you go on foot. We were 3 in a twin room, so the hotel put an extra bed but without a net. Though it seemed quite clean, we would feel more safe to have it equally for all beds.

me and my girlfriend stayed in the hotel for 5 nights and than moved to another hotel in nungwi. all over we really recommend this hotel. everyone were... so nice to us, the stuff is great. the food was clean and there's something to eat for everyone to matter what your taste is. have fun by T&B from Israel on 10/16/12

Hotel very good. Beach very good , no complaints. Do use Beach Boys to book activites because hotel booking services are much more expensive. They are safe, no problems. Arrange transportation from airport and back with same people since hotel prices are about double (approx 45 km) . Language may be a problem with some drivers. If you need incidentals […] buy them before you get to the hotel since there are no markets near by. If you forgot something you may need to drive all the way back to the city. Food is good, never got sick, avoid going to feed at the begining since you may face a hungry hostile crowd. There is plenty of food all the way to the end of the service. Happy vacation ! Read more

The beach rooms have great views of the sandy beaches and Indian Ocean - palms on the private beach area in front of the beach add to the overall feeling of your own piece of paradise. The staff are very friendly from the reception, to the bar and to the restaurant.

Very good. Beautiful location excellent service and food. Bar could be better. Cocktails vary whom is serving from very good cocktail shakers to barkeeper who pours different ingredients ingredients together and serve as cocktail. But always with a smile ever so pleasant though. Gardeners were brilliant and serving fresh coconuts to which we added a […] bit of white rum. Excellent! Negative point No free wifi service only paid for one access. We were five and had to share or pay for five access. Which is not a good service for 5 star hotel. Read more

Standarden på hotellet er meget bra, og det er lett å føle seg velkommen. Staben er vennlig og veldig serviceinnstilt. Maten varierer litt, men er stort sett bra. Eneste minuset er at taxi til Stonetown blir dyrt, da det ikke er like lett å prute på Zanzibar. I tillegg et også utfluktene fra hotellet meget dyre. Lønner seg å organisere det selv. Stranda […] er fin og det et mange nok solsenger til alle. Vi har hatt noen herlige dager på hotellet og anbefaler det lett til andre som skal til samme område. Read more
