We came to the hotel at 10 a.m. and want to check-in a bit earlier, but it was impossible. We could only leave our luggage in reception. To came to the reception we had to call the numer which we'd found on the door. Then we had to wait for someone to open the door. At 2 p.m. when the check-in was finaly possible it came in that there's no our reservation […] in the system. The person at the reception didn't speak english well so it was a problem. Finaly she called somewhere and she took us to some other building maybe 200m away. The location was the only good thing in this room. It was dirty and it has windows on the side of the street. In the bathroom there were 8 cm- long, flying insects, so it was hard to take a shower especialy if you are scary of animals like these. The price and lokation are good but sometimes it's better to pay a little more and have a better conditions in place where staff treat you well, without mess, insects and problems with checking-in . "Bra location simple standard"
Good value for the price, very good location.

Waanzinnig goede ligging in hartje Málaga. Volgende keer slapen wij hier weer!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Centralt, rent, enkelt."
Rent og enkelt. Mini køkken fint til en hurtig tilberedning, - men med mange gode madsteder tæt omkring, så fik vi ikke brug for køk. 800m til nærmeste off. Betalings P-plads.

Trotzdem: Nie wieder! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Freezing but perfect"
02/10/15 Line O
My spanish class and I were in Málaga staying at Residencia Universitaria San Jose in week 6 (february 2015) and the rooms were freezing! We slept with all of our clothes on, gloves and scarfs, and still we all got sick. Otherwise the hotel was perfect for a studytrip: centrally located, cheap and clean. So my only advice for future visitors is to stay somewhere else when it is around 6 degrees celsius or to bring a sleepingbag, a duvet or a lot of warm clothes. However, I believe it is the best place to stay in the summer!!!
"A low priced basic accommodation "
We stayed here for one night in the winter and it was good enough. The rooms are totally not soundproof so you have to deal with noise from the street and other rooms. But as it was low season this was not a problem. Facilities include a shared bathroom and kitchenette with ancient fridge nd microwave. The hostal has three locations near to each other very centrally located. Check in was at the San Jose location. No one was there but after calling a phone number posted on the door, a 1 minute wait and communication in basic Spanish a very efficient and friendly lady checked us in and brought is to our location. The central location and very low price make this a location I would return to in low season.
"Good value, Good location, Rooms OK"

The rooms are in flats in a student residence. If you are travelling in a group the can't guarantee getting rooms in the same flat, so you could be separated. The rooms were quiet when we stayed. You have to telephone a number to check in and out, which is awkward. The bathroom was shared with two other rooms, so no queuing. The room was clean, with decent furniture, but no basin or plumbing of its own. The location is central, opposite the Picasso Museum. I paid 15 euros a night off season for a single non ac room, which was good value
"Book it only if you can really cheap"
10/01/14 pawel_hbg Helsingborg, Sweden
I had booked this place a half a year before planned stay for something like 22,5 euro per night for double room. It was so good deal that only because of that. If you have no problem with shared bathroom, with very basic room with no air condition you can go for it. The only disadvantage it is in the centre. We were charged additionally 5 eur because we arrived about 20.00 so it was too late for no charge check in. Strange but it was noted in the reservation as I have read later. As I have written location is perfect and we did not take any taxi but bus from the Airport to get there. It is like 8 minutes walk from bus stop. You can save Money in that case. There is 1 big fridge for 4 rooms but only 1 bathroom. We were lucky never waiting for anybody. Place definetely for budget travellers.

My only complaint was that I wasn't able to stay longer - that was my fault, great location and rooms. When I spoke with the owner, he was very helpful, worked out a good deal and tried to find solutions. He already had pre-bookings, we just pretty much arrived at the door in the morning after logging on at the train station and making the booking and then walking there. I made a mistake in my haste and only booked overnight, the rooms were spacious and clean. Recommend to stay there.

Very good location, close to the social life and tourist attractions. The rooms are very nice for such a price and very clean. We booked two rooms which don't include bathroom. However we were the ony ones staying in the floor, so it was like we had a private bathroom and a kitchen.
"1 provider, 2 experiences"
11/03/13 tess x Wroclaw, Poland
Booked via booking.com. They actually have three houses: #1 is on San Jose street with the lounge and reception; #2 is right accross the street in a newer building with a lift, and #3 is 1-minute walk away on Duque de la Victoria street. We discovered this upon arrival and had no previous info which location we would be allocated at. All 100% central, right next to the Museum Picasso Malaga. If checking in during siesta, you will have to ring the number provided at the front door but 2 minutes and a cleaning lady was with us ready to check us in and take payment in cash only. Staff don't speak much English, if at all, which was not a problem for us. We stayed there twice within the past two weeks, first at #3 and then at #2. In both locations we had full independence with the keys to the gate, apartment and room. No curfew, of course. There is a small problem with depositing the keys if you leave very early (3 am for us) so we left these at the mailbox since the reception did not respond. experience 1 ---- the # 3 - Duque de la Victoria location: typical for Malaga central tenement house, 2nd floor, 4 rooms, basic kitchenette (big fridge, microwave), bathroom with a tub and option to shower, area to sit. Generally clean, but the bath and one room had mould on the ceiling --- that room had no window and only frosty glass door - watch out!!! Our room outlooked the street, with beautiful tall window shutters, the tiny balcony was all glassed up and with tiny windows at the bottom which I opened for fresh air and street noise, almost until dawn. But it was a part of the experience so didn't bother us at all. Bring ear plugs if you're fussy ;) These is a radiology clinic opposite the street but didn't bother us either. There was free wifi in the room, good quality; a wardrobe; two tables; two chairs; big towels. Funny, plugs can be found behind the bed. No small lamp for reading but who would sit at a room with such a great weather and plenty to see/do/eat right at your nose :D I am going to stay there the next time when visiting Malaga with my sister. experience 2 ----- the #2 - San Jose location: tiny lift to 3rd floor (3C); kitchenette with a few plates (microwave, big fridge); modern and superclean bathroom with a bath/no option to shower and a tiny window; the rooms decorated as shown on booking.com - chocolate walls; free wifi and a TV in the room, super comfy beds; there were no towels. Visually, it was a more satisfying experience for someone who wants a modern room. The first location was a bit rustic but very cosy and with character :) The only but also heaviest downpoint at #2 San Jose were veery thin walls. You could literally hear every word spoken in the next room, and if the TV in the other room was loud..... We got woken up around 3 am by someone banging on the wall and shouting in Spanish to some other party who were talking in some other room. It was a bit frightening, actually. Also, doors have no handles, they only lock loudly which is disturbing. Our room was next to the bathroom, I would literally accompany every other guest visiting it... The other thing was the combination of kitchen smells and cigarette fumes that prevented us from opening the only window which faced a small inner patio. Hard to bare if you need plenty of fresh air for a good night's sleep. The option was to open the window in the hall that outlooked the tiny San Jose street and keep the door to our room open for a while for ventillation. All in all, #2 San Jose is more modern than #3 Duque but the Duque place definitely wins due to thick walls, access to fresh air and more character. Small tip: a taxi ride from that location at 3 on Saturday morning to Fuengirola airport cost us 20 EUR and took ca. 13 minutes. Other taxi drivers advised it would be around 21-22 EUR but we made a deal with the driver :)
"Amazing location + incredible price"
09/29/13 zmije Prague, Czech Republic
We have booked the room via booking.com and there was no problem except our late arrival. The reception is open 14-20. So we called the number in five minutes time there was a lady who did not speak English, but there was not any problem with check-in at all. The location is just incredible, only about 10 meters from Picasso museum and directly in the heart of the old town. The room was ok, the corridors are dark and bit scary. Other young guests were a bit noisy and so were people in the streets, but it was not that bad. I did not use my earplugs. If you wanna stay in the historical part and want to see all the main highlights (in walking distance) it is perfect.

One of the cheapest and best locations I've ever been in. We had an apartment at an incredible price. The WiFi was exquisite. It was in the close proximity of all the main attractions of the town. The staff were friendly and dependable. No need to pay for breakfast as you can prepare it inside your apartment. Very close to the Malaga Cathedral and just several steps from the Picasso Museum. You'll be in the very centre of the old city of Malaga and you'll be able to visit the Alcazaba and the Gibralfar whenever you like during the day. Very close to beaches, to restaurants and to shopping places. Music is everywhere. In our opinion that this place has only one single flaw: it is flawless...
