Homestead Resort - Midway

We loved staying at the Homestead and will stay again sometime when we have more time to enjoy the area. We were interested in the dome and would like to see it again. What a beautiful place.

This was my first stay here, and I really enjoyed it; I will definitely return. The service was so professional and friendly and it seemed to be a slow weekend so the staff was particularly attentive.There were only a couple of issues that I would like to mention. First of all, at one point, our room key stopped working. When we went back to the front […] desk, the lady said that the computer had randomly reassigned us and all of our information to a different room. Also, one of the reasons I was so excited to stay at the Homestead was the crater. I found it very difficult to get in touch with the office to make a reservation and when I finally did, the man said that it would be better if I called back the day of my desired reservation. When I did, the employee said that they were full. I was really bummed out about that. I will be back and I had a great experience otherwise, those may be some things to think about though. I loved our stay...loved the pool and hot tub!! so relaxing and nice...the only thing I didn't like was the bed...I woke up with a sore back...but, on the bright side, I went to the hot tub and it felt better after that :)

Made our reservation and when we showed up the reservation took 45 minutes for the hotel desk to find. Hotel restaurant was awful. First night was not that busy, yet it took a couple of hours to get our meal. Breakfast the next morning was the same. This hotel is chronically understaffed. The room was terribly small for $154 per ight room. We were downstairs […] and there were creeks, footsteps and general banging around above us day and night...bed was as hard as a rock. We did go out for dinner the next night across the street at the adjacent resort. The food was pricey, but it was fantastic. The wait staff was great too. First foom heat did not work. We had to stay in a 50 degree room with 3 kids for about an hgour doing nothng until they could get us in a new room. New room had heat. Garbage can had puke in it from prvius stayer and maids simply put a bag over the dried throw up. Obviously with small kids, they discovered. Restaurant is just okay. This was an excellent quiet relaxing weekend away from all the stress of daily life. It truly was one of the best night's rest I've had in months. The room wasn't very posh per se, however, it met our needs. The deck out front of our door, however, had ice on it, which was a bit dangerous and should have been cleared off before our arrival. The Homestead Resort is a unique little get away in Midway, UT close to several ski resorts and recreational areas. You won't find a better price to stay in the area and the accommodations were just fine. The room was not fancy or new, but it was clean and the staff was exceptional. We had a great stay and would return.

We really enjoyed our cottage room with its views of the snowy mountain tops. We needed a microwave and it was delivered within minutes. We were a bit disappointed with the "mineral hot tub" although it did feel great. We expected a natural setting and more atmosphere than a fiberglass tub with no jets and rust stains. We found this resort on Hotels.com and it was a very good deal. The place is modern and elegant. The grounds are extensive-this is a large compound of Chalet type buildings.Price of less than 100 was great. Would have been much more "in season" . Wife was pleased with my choice!

Our overall experience was great. You do need to be aware that some of the guest rooms are over 100 years old, and if you get one of these then treasure it as a unique and historical experience. Most of the rooms are not that old and they are all well maintained. The grounds a large and add to the overall experience. We were there in February and saw […] deer and other wildlife during our stay; though you can't expect to see them regularly. Weekdays had only a few guests and we had ample opportunity to use the swimming pool, hot tubs, and exercise room all by ourselves. Weekends are busier. Don't pass up the chance to go swimming in the "crater". This is a very unique experience and lots of fun; even though there is an extra charge. This is a very eclectic and beautiful resort. Very peaceful place to stay. The only suggestion I would give the resort is to train the staff to deliver any requests to the room. We asked for plastic forks for a desert we had in the room and they made me walk through the snow to pick them up from the restaurant. The service was horrible considering the price of this hotel! When checking in at midnight we had to wait for 45 mins because the staff was unable to multi task and help 2 customers at once (2 desk clerks on staff at that time). When asked if there was a cart to unload our stuff was told they don't have any, but they would get a bellhop to help us. […] The bellhop then proceeded to try and talk us out of unloading our things and told us that they could just stay in the car over night in the below freezing temperatures. When told they couldn't and that we were going to unload everything, he just keep complaining that we should have just left our things in the car. Several lights in the room were burnt out and it took multiple phone calls to the front desk and over half a day to get them changed out. Over all not a good experience with the staff and definitely not worth the money they charge. Save the extra money and stay in a cheaper hotel with better service. Read more

The rooms were not as nice as what was pictured on the web site. Very 70's old. The Internet only worked about 10% of the time in a week long stay even after notifying the front desk twice. We have stayed here a couple of times. On this visit, our room wasn't quite as inviting and interesting as the suite we stayed in before, but it's nice to know there are various options depending on what you want to spend. It was still a very nice room and a very cozy getaway.

With a resort located in such a rustic setting, you expect a little bit of of a more natural environment. Surprisingly, we didn't see any bugs in the room. There was a bit of mold in the shower, the beds weren't the most comfortable but the rooms were large and very nice. THe bathroom heater was incredibly powerful to heat the room quickly. The only drawbacks were: 1) they gave us the wrong size room (one bed for 4 people) and number of beds; we reserved and paid for 2 queen beds in the room.
