Hotel Ocho - Toronto

The room was spare but nicely appointed. I can do without a coffee maker when the restaurant/bar is one floor below. The desk in the room was too small to get any real work done. The location is convenient to downtown, Chinatown, and the theater district. There was some streetcar noise but that's a minor quibble.

I really like the Hotel Ocho. The lights in the room are dim and not good for doing work and getting a call patched through from the "front desk" can be frustrating. Other than that, it is a bunch of fun.

Friendly hotel with a hip, designer-y feel to it. Great value for the money. Could be a little "too cool" for some: in my room, there was no door to the black-tiled bathroom (not a problem for me, since I was staying alone, but some couples might want a little privacy when using the toilet) and the room's minimalist look meant there weren't many places […] to put stuff down. BUT the room had high ceilings and huge windows and a cool vibe. Be aware that the front desk closes at midnight (you receive a key to get in and there's a phone number for a night manager). Loved hotel and definitely would stay again. Great location near Dark Horse, Queen St shopping and UTO. Clean and stylish. Resto and bar made a great place to hang out with our daughters during visit. We had little difficulty figuring out how to work showers (unlike other reviews). Location wasn't the greatest and parking was almost non-existent, they really need to make a deal with parking in the area for overnight stay. HOWEVER, the room was amazing!! the king size bed was extremely comfortable and the extra long bath tub allowed a 6'3'' person to fit completely. I've never soaked in a bath so sweet.

I really enjoyed Hotel Ocho. I've been coming to Toronto for many years from NYC. Usually stay @ much bigger full service hotels, but a local friend Recomended it & they were spot on. Centrally located, modern, clean, quiet, reasonable rates. I felt like I was in another country, great chill vibe& excellent lobby / cafe. Great coffee too!

The location is great, and the hotel has a very nice atmosphere. There was an art opening in the hotel bar the evening we were there, and we had a good time. The only issue was the air conditioner is very loud, but it should not be a problem for a sound sleeper.

The general manager was great. The food at the restaurant wonderful. The hotel is eclectic and not for everyone. No lobby; no service in the room and limited food option for breakfast. Despite all this, if you want a different and fun experience, I'd go far it. Parking is down the street from the hotel.

Absolutely brilliant! The staff were amazing. I had some issue with my bank blocking my account (because I was abroad) combined with no credit on my cell phone. This rendered me with no way of contacting the bank to sort the problem out. The staff at the hotel helped me resolve the problem and one member of staff even allowed me to use his cell phone […] to call the UK from Canada. They were professional, polite and it was an absolute pleasure to have them as the staff during my stay. The hotel was very modern and quirky. It was small and felt homely. It was at the same time extravagant - a huge TV, brand new granite bathroom suite and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. They have complimentary internet too which is a plus. The ground floor of the hotel is actually a bar/restaurant so is a convenient place to grab a bite to eat or a quick drink. The noise does NOT carry up into the rooms and you'd never even know there was a bar beneath the rooms. The location is fantastic. Located on the fringes of Chinatown and the centre of Toronto. It is about a 10 or 15 minute walk to the city centre but is close to many attractions such as the Art Museum and CN tower. I do not know about parking at the hotel but with a city the size of Toronto it should come as no surprise that the hotel is conveniently located for public transport. The hotel was really cool, modern and well located. I really enjoyed my stay and this is a place I would recommend. Parking is 2 blocks away. Shower was hard to turn on and off. Strange room configuration that threw me off, but I see the "cool" factor. If I need to be in the area, I will go back. Good value for the price.

If I could give this hotel 6 stars, I would. I travel for business and hotels just start looking like one another. Not Hotel Ocho. It's beautifully decorated. I adored my bathroom (and the rain showerhead- I want to get the same exact one for my house). At first I wasn't sure about the huge window overlooking Spadina but it was quite and dark at night […] in the room. Also, at first the hotel just looks like a cafe but it is a hotel and the cafe is so comfortable that I ended up spending time downstairs after dinner with coffee and a book. The hotel is quite a bit from Bay and Wellington (about a 20-25 minute walk) but cabs are easy to get and not that expensive if you don't feel like walking after a full day. Also, there is amazing Asian food all around for dinner. All in all, I wish my bedroom and bathroom at home looked this nice, every employee I met was extremely nice and helpful, the neighborhood is fun and very yummy, and this has become my new favorite hotel in Toronto. The combination of a comfortable, modern room, spacious and bright shower and bathroom, and a great bar/restaurant downstairs made for a great experience. Very good restaurant in hotel. Close to everything. Bixi bike rentals in front of hotel. Cons: Glasses in bathroom were dirty/used when I arrived. Very loud over the weekend (Friday […] & Saturday nights). I was woken up two times by drunk guests in the hallway at midnight and drunk kids outside attempting to ride the Bixi bikes at 4am. The very freindly staff had a lot of knowledge of the surrounding neigborhoods and the local culture in general. I was glad I tryed this hotel. Not the run of the mill hotel. Urban feel to the room. High ceilings,exposed brick wall, big windows that open if you like, beautiful shower and washroom and a wonderful restaurant/lounge downstairs. Interesting shops etc to visit near the hotel.
