This hotel is in a beautiful setting with a nice small secluded beach and walking distance to two other beaches-there is a shuttle as well. My complaint would be the staff did not seem to care about quality of service-seemed indifferent and this is not what we encountered at other hotels in the country. "For those who appreciate nature!"
This is a special place, very well manage with reasonably good staff.the position is great away from the noise of Patong. It is at the end of the road almost lost in the jungle.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Baan Krating is in a lovely location, its quite far from everything else in Phuket but if you are looking for somewhere quiet and on teh beach to stay than this is perfect. The room was roomy and clean over looking the ocean. The only bad thing I can say, that it was horrible to see other guests littering the beach with ciggarettes and rubbish as well […] as taking marine life out of the ocean- starfish and hermit crabs and back to there rooms as momento's. Staff simply watched on- surely they would want to protect their surroundings. I just think that staff should do more to stop this before the beach and surround are ruined. "Excellent if you want peace and quiet"
It was perfect for what we wanted. Totally remote and away from the loud chaos of Patong, Kata beaches. But it is very far from anything. We rented a motorbike and went to the main strip in Naiharn beach. Most tours pick you up from your hotel anyway but may charge extra due to the distance. Taxi to n any places will cost around 800 baht. We chose the […] deluxe villa right near the water. it was an amazing view. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
great location, in a secluded spot, away from all the over development of Phuket. It has its own private beach/bay which is a real bonus. The food however is not great, one thing I don't understand about these places is that they serve cordials rather than fresh juices, even though the fruits are so easy to get. "Not worth the money"
Good location off the beaten path (almost 1k bhat from Phuket Airport). Pretty helpful setting up activities I wanted to do in Phuket, and their bikes are in good condition should you want to rent a scooter. HOWEVER Customer service is terrible. They overcharge for amenities which are NOT worth it. Their staff takes 3 or 4x as long at the restaurant […] to bring you your order. I ordered a chicken sandwich, and took it apart, it was 3 slices of bread, half a piece of lettuce ripped up, and 1/3 of a piece of a chicken breast. They charged western prices for this, and ALSO charged a % service charge ontop of this. I asked for Mayo, and 20 mins later they came back with mayo squeezed from a Kebab dispenser and charged me for it. I asked for water and it was left on the counter for 10 mins. Eventually I got up and grabbed it myself, and they came over and insisted I pay a service charge. I asked if it was a "service charge" or just a "tax" as i didn't really get served, though I did not contest paying more. She got huffy, walked off, grabbed a menu, threw it down on my table and pointed to the small print about the service charge. For a few bhat I wasn't concerned, but the way they go about doing business is AWFUL. There was another resort just outside the entrance I ended up frequenting for meals and to snorkel and I was DEF more pleased with it (though I do not represent this other resort, and am not going to put its name) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is my very favourite hotel.if you are seeking a quite beautiful and authentic place then this is the hotel for you.the hotel is very well managed and the staff are helpful and will go out of their way to ensure that you have a good stay.I was particulary impressed with the hotel manager Mr Jirapatchr who was listen to my concern about having a […] quite room and took imidiate action ensuring that our stay is peaceful and very plesant.when we expressed a desire to visit their sister hotel in Kao lak ,the manger arrange for us to go with mr van who was very helpful and entertaining.this place is truly special and it is lucky for us that it was managed by special staff who are able to appreciate the magis surrounding..i just wish that management take action to make the restaurent more popular by introducing daily "Plat du jour" with prices attractive to the guests. The restaurent position is magnificant and it is a shame that it is not used fully.i also think that reducing internet rates charged by the hotel will encourrage more guests to use it ,therefore increasing revenue. In conclusion it is a hotel that i would love to return to . "Manque d'entretien, dommage !"

Genuine Expedia guest review

"awesome secluded getaway !!"
01/06/14 Eddie J Cairns, Australia
this place will blow you away !! Tucked away in the tropical jungle but on the waterfront with elevated rooms on the hill overlooking the ocean and bay into Nai harn beach. The rooms are luxuriously appointed with balconies and ocean views. The restaurant is superb with a awesome buffet breakfast daily and perfect thai food for other sittings. You can sit out on the deck overlooking the pool, tropical jungle and hillside down to the waters edge where you will find a beautiful sand beach with crystal clear water. You can hire a motor scooter from reception and go touring Nai harn and the lookout (especially good at sunset time for its spectacular vistas and local entertainment, ... see my review on Nai Harn beach), or to nearby Rawai beach. This resort will not dissapoint, i would go back there anytime !! I hope my review has been of some help to you? cheers and happy holidays !!
"BEAUTIFUL, BEST SNORKELING! Secluded, Private Villas"
12/09/13 Jason H Los Angeles, California
First, the pluses: +Baan Krating is GORGEOUS ROMANTIC BEACHFRONT resort, with a 'private beach' that's HAS THE BEST SNORKELING with HUNDREDS of tropical fish that are so close you can touch them even in a meter of water --Bring your snorkeling gear! +We LOVED our stay here in November. The resort customer service is great, everyone is smiling & friendly & the general manager is super nice also since we got a complimentary upgrade to ocean view villa as well as complimentary pickup from another nearby great bed&breakfast Baan Oui so we will come back again ensuring our customer loyalty :) +Our room was spacious clean modern private villa like all rooms, with their own terrace & lounge chairs, with the better/deluxe villas having glass showers- +the resort is set amidst a jungle with coconut trees & banana trees all over with beautiful tropical green landscaping +There's a great bluff with a swing, lounge chairs, & bar also for watching the gorgeous sunsets right next to the beach 2nd, the minuses: -The main drawback (or plus) is that it's secluded & not really within walking distance of shops & restaurants/main Nai Harn Beach, which requires about a 30 minute walk uphill but there are 4 daily shuttles every 2 hours until about 4pm that go back & forth between main Nai Harn beach & Baan Krating. -Taxi fare can cost 600+ baht ($20+) going to Kata Beach so either have a car or cab fare & it costs 200 baht by taxi to goto main Nai Harn Beach which has the closest shops, restaurants, taxi stands, & market & nearby park/carnival. -Most of the restaurant staff though doesn't understand English though so restaurant customer service needs improvement -There is no fitness center since most hotels/resorts in Phuket do not have a fitness center but you can get all the exercise swimming & walking in Phuket, LOL
"Know what to expect when you go there!"
11/28/13 dsabou Dubai
The location of this resort is its main attractiveness. It is isolated, located right on the water with its own beach. Just getting there is a thrill! Having to go through the basement of another hotel (the Royal Phuket Yacht Club) on the way makes it pretty unique too I guess! The rooms themselves are very nice and spacious we thought and the whole concept of the resort is lovely. I would call it exotic with comfort. The staff at the reception is very useful (specially Pariphat (?) who can't do anything without smiling) where all our requests were handled most satisfactorily. On the other hand the restaurant is to be avoided even for breakfast that comes free with the room! It has no taste and it's should be seen as a last resort place before dying of hunger! Too bad for the nice singer/guitarist playing lovely music at night! The televisions in the rooms date from another era and clearly demonstrate that the management of that hotel has determined that any outflow of cash would be minimized. There is no gym which in my view in this day and age is unacceptable. And to cap it all off there in no internet per se. They do sell an internet package at the restaurant but many guests we spoke to said it worked very poorly and on top of that the internet package in not refundable even if it does not work. So as one can see there are pros and cons to this place and one should go there with the right expectations. Having said that I still give it a 4-star rating because of the location and its surroundings!
"Wonderful location, good service"
11/26/13 Tania L Kiev, Ukraine
This is quiet hotel located in a jungle with a small beach of its own. Spacious villas, a bit worn out but well taken care of. Staff is welcoming and efficient at assisting in any requests. Pros: very private, quiet and beautiful, stunning sea views, snorkeling opportunities with dead but still interesting coral reef, have scooter rental Cons: limited breakfast selection, 20-min walk to civilization and no free wifi. So rent a scooter and get local 3G.
"Amazing surroundings but don't use the restaurant!"
11/19/13 littletruthfairy UK
The hotel itself is very beautiful, especially arriving at night. It is on the edge of the jungle, complete with wooden bridge over a ravine to get there, and consists of lots of wooden huts, pathways, and lovely gardens which fit perfectly into the wild scenery around it. The room we had was clean and comfortable, although despite being in a 'deluxe' room the double bed was two singles pushed together. The main thing I would warn visitors about is that the food in the restaurant is INCREDIBLY bland. It was the worst meal we had in our whole trip to thailand. Also the cocktails tasted chemically, and were obviously came from premixed bottles (although not advertised as such). This made for a very disappointing meal despite beautiful surroundings. I would suggest walking a little way down the road and trying the restaurant next to the next hotel down (we didn't try it, but it can't be worse than the one at this hotel!). The other downside was the fact that, despite a more expensive hotel room than the vast majority in thailand, the hotel is not at all generous. They even charged us after accepting an offer of a coconut that had fallen from one of the trees in the garden. They also take a large cut if you order a taxi through them - you can save a lot by finding one with one of the local companies yourself. Their lack of generosity stuck out like a sore thumb after staying in some other family run businesses who went out of their way to give you the best value possible for your stay. So, all in all, this is a beautiful hotel, with lovely surroundings and a nice private beach (which looked good for snorkeling although we didn't have time to try). However, if you would rather more rustic accomodation with better food, service and value for money I would recommend going for a less commercial, more local hotel. This is perhaps good for just a night or two to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
"Atmospheric, a hidden gem"
11/11/13 S E International
Located at the point of it’s own little cape, the rooms here are lovely wooden Thai chalets, each with an individual terrace, nestled in a large forest that boasts some impressive trees. Romantic and very atmospheric, especially during breakfast (pretty nice if basic) when the birds, lizards and butterflies come out. It has it’s own private little beach for those wanting even more privacy; otherwise the main Rawai beach nearby (5 minutes away by shuttle) is very nice (but can get some big swells too as we found out!); the beach has some excellent restaurants (shortly to post another review about that) and simple shops, ATMs, etc. As this beach is right at the southern end of Phuket, it can be far more relaxed than other crowded ones in the North. There is a beautiful pool between the trees (a bit cold though!) and, unusually, quite a large games room with a pool table. Has Internet. It is very quiet so excellent for R&R. A touch pricey for Phuket what with rooms starting at TBH2500 a night but worth it as reminds me of Phuket from years back.

Love love love this place. Great for couples, families with kids... Beautiful surroundings, can be as quiet as you want it to be! The property occasionally gets a bit run-down and to be honest the food isn't that great, but the staff are amazingly helpful and it is right on the beach with its own pool as well... Away from the hustle and bustle and with the jungle right beside you, you can stay there to relax or take the daily Song Theow (Pick-up with seats) trips into Naiharn beach - close to many restaurants and shops. We were greeted this time with a complimentary upgrade to the beachfront villas, presumably because we have been so many times, and the view was just stunning... slept to the sounds of the sea, and made hot coffee in our rooms in the morning to watch the sunrise... I'd love to still be there right now!!!
"Quiet, private and very comfortable with stunning views"
09/20/13 Kelly C Newcastle, Australia
I left another resort just around the corner from here, after the people we were traveling with discovered this hotel. I only wish we found this resort sooner. We stayed in one of the waterfront rooms. It was stunning, the view, the location, the amenities, the bed, the bathroom......everything about this room was perfect. The only fault with this resort is the food. Eat elsewhere.
"Nice place to get away to unseen place in Phuket"
08/25/13 Pom S Phuket
If you are going through reviews of this place on Tripadvisor, you may have a doubt as I had if it is a right place to stay or not as there are many extremely negative comments VS quite positive comments. Finally, I decided to spend my holidays with family here. In general, I would say that we had a good experience staying at Baan Krating. With the price paid, I should not have any complaints about it as I cannot find a calm place for getting away like this in Phuket at about Thb 1,600 / room / night for a standard room. I can assure you about as I have been living and working in tourism businesses in Phuket over 10 years. I gave me a feeling on how Phuket looked like back 15 - 20 years ago where it was a once calm and beauty place not busy like today. Even though it was a good stay and very worth for money but I do have some suggestions at the end of this review for the resort can look at and take in to account in improving guests' experiences on top of great natural resources you have in the resort. The resort is located around Nai Harn Beach where you have to drive pass Nai Harn beach, going through under Royal Phuket Yacht Club Resort (do not stop when you ar facing this resort, just keep going through) and drive along the narrow road till the end of the way you will find the resort located and nestled by the jungle and mountains with facing the Andaman sea with little (almost private beach) laying down the resort. It is far but worth driving. Looking at the resort in general, I can say that all photos on their website were taken long long time a go. The resort conditions look more quite tired comparing to those on the website. It is not fake but not up to date I would say. So, I took many ok photos to give you a sense of reality there. I do not think they need a renovation but daily detail-oriented cleaning is a must required. The staff is friendly but they require to have more professional service training as specially for F&B service staff. So, up to this point if you are really a traveler who place important having professional service in a stayed resort. You might be very not appreciated staying here. However, if you are easy going person, it would be ok staying here. The location of the resort is very excellent. It is very calm and relax with having jungles around and most importantly a small but very quite beach down the resort. I do not like go swimming in the sea but have not done it for many many years. But the first thing I did after check was that jumping into the sea and laying down on the beach there. I don't know but it is a wow factor to me. The beach is not white sandy and there are rocks pop up when low tide. So, please be careful for that. By the beach, there are some sun beds with a beach cabana that belong to the resort. There are not that many but remember there is no resort that can provide enough sun beds for all guests. So, it is the thing that you have to deal with it. There is no safety box in a room, so keep your valuable belonging with you all the time. Just to be on the safe side. For breakfast, I expect that a cook could be able to make it more tasty than that. It was not delicious at all. I am quite ok with its variety but if they could focus on how it is cooked and seasoned like the dinner I ordered. It tasted quite good. So, what happened to a breakfast. To sum up, if you are an very easy going person with love of staying in a limited service place but with calm and beauty nature. This resort is highly recommended, it is worth for your money and time. P/S - Resort new telephone no. has been changed to +66 76 510 927. The old one displayed on the website does not work anymore.

This hotel is in a fantastic location. Upgrade to the newer rooms they are definitely well worth it, the bungalows are a bit worn. Beware of the oodles of Chinese tourists that come in nightly, they come for a one night stop over and are very noisymand inconsiderate of others in the hotel. Staff could do with a few tips on customer service. The guy who tends to the pool is lovely and friendly as is the head chef but the rest of the staff don't even bother to say hello. The breakfast really could do with a makeover, it is the same every day, it is poor with little variety. If you want somewhere with a great view, quiet during the day then this is for you.
