"Great location and value"

My friend and I stayed in a twin room at this hotel and were very pleased. This is not a luxury hotel by any means, but as a centrally located, budget location for sleeping & bathing it is fantastic. The room was typically European, i.e. smallish, but had a nice wardrobe, shelves and nightstand for storing our belongings. It was generally a bit stuffy and overly warm, especially overnight, so we opened our window - the street noise was not too bad during the week but on the weekend was boisterous. With the window closed it wasn't too bad though. Shower facilities were fine, always had nice hot water. We loved that there is a fridge in the room, very convenient for keeping some snacks and drinks on hand. The staff was super friendly. My key stopped working twice, which was a bit annoying, but they were sympathetic and rekeyed it immediately. Location off Puerta del Sol was great for accessing the metro or walking to sights and dining. There's a pizza place just below the hotel - awesome if you arrive late at night like I did - lots of dining nearby. There's also a grocery store a couple streets over. Overall I would definitely stay here again and recommend Hostal Victoria II to anyone looking for a centrally located, budget hotel.

I booked a room for two and I was very pleased with everything. It was very clean, tidy, cheap and the location at Puertas del Sol was excellent. Therefore I recommend it to anyone who wishes to visit Madrid.
"Decent affordable place in Madrid"

This place is in a decent central location in Madrid, friendly staff who will accommodate your needs. Unfortunately the staff does not speak English so I had a bit of a language barrier issue. I am a tall person and the rooms were sort of tiny for me to move around. The bathrooms itself had a bad oder for which I didn't particularly much. It's not the worst place to stay though if you can handle any of this, with the reasonable hotel rates I would consider staying here again.
"Good choice for citytrip"

It is so close to the metro that we went too far without noticing. We were not disapointed at all reaching our room on the 4th floor. With elevator ofcourse. Not a big room but everything you need was there. Very clean and even a safe and a little balcony overlooking the Puerto del Sol. Airco was not too cold and we slept without hearing the traffic and the party people. When we explored the surroundings we were happily surprised that all the attractions we liked to visit were easy to reach by walking. Lots of good restaurants and tapasbars nearby made it compleet. No luxury but very priceworthy! We had room 401.

I 've been there with a group of friends. the girl at the receprion was probably in a bad mood when we arrived. We stayed for five nights. The view at the square was great and the hostel is quite close to the museums and next to a metro station. The only disappointing part was that the room wasn't clean and the sheets when we arrived were dirty!!
"Excellent for our stay in Madrid"

Very good location. As it was our first time in Madrid, coming out of the metro station at Sol, we were confused and disoriented, but it did not take too long for us to find the street the hotel was in. It was just across the road. Checking in was at Hostal Victoria I, which was just a few doors passed Hostal Victoria II. We were nervous about this—thought it was be complicated. Just walk a doors passed, ring the bell, go into the building, go up to the floor (think it was the 2nd floor, if I remember correctly), and ring another bell and they'll let you in. There was always someone there when we went, so it was really easy and convenient. The lady checking us in was nice and polite. The man checking us out was also nice—showed us on a metro map how to get to the main train station. You'll really only see them when checking in and out because Hostal Victoria II is in a different building. We stayed on the 5th floor of Hostal Victoria, with the room with a balcony facing the street. The room was a bit on the small side (but it was fine for us—two twin beds), but it was very clean and relaxing. It had good-working AC and the WIFI connection was great (make sure you ask for the WIFI password when you are checking in at Hostal Victoria I). The balcony was very small, but just look to the right and you'll see the Sol square. We really enjoyed that—seeing people walk around and the activities that go on there, in the early morning, afternoon or even late at night. Sol is a busy, busy place, but it is very quiet inside the room. For first-timers in Madrid (like us), the location was just great because we were able to go everywhere in the city using the Metro—to Gran Via, Malasana, the Retiro park, and etc. We went to an amazing jazz cafe in the Huertas, which apparently is a good "nightlife" area, and it was just a 10-min walk from the hotel. When we had to go to the main train station, it was just a metro ride away with no stops. The location of the hotel really was so convenient. For people that need breakfast first thing in the morning...there's no breakfast at this hotel, but there's a mini-fridge in the room so just buy something. There's a hugeee grocery store in one of the big shopping mall buildings at Sol (forgot the name)—there's also a Starbucks there. Also, the Mercado de San Miguel (and Plaza Mayor) are just about 10-15 minute-walk from the hotel. You are pretty much in the center of everything so you have everything you need. For late-night snackers, there's a pizza (by the slice) joint next door and there seems to be loads of people lining up for it all the time. Really recommend staying there! The price is great for what you get. :) The location will make your stay in Madrid a wonderful one.

This was a group trip so I had nothing to do with the reservación al thought the lady who organized the trip said they were helpful We were 25 in a mixture of single double triple and cuadrulpe rooms. The rooms are small but clean tidy and presentable all of ours had bathrooms ensuite It is set in three separate buildings but felt secure as there are security doors throughout. In my room was me and another lady and we both felt safe The location is outstanding as it is about 10 meters off the Sol plaza and you couldn't ask for more.
"Very central location, very well kept"

For only 53 euros per night Hostal Victoria II was a little gem right in the heart of the city (Puerta del Sol) The room was small but just big enough for two lads in twin beds. It was very clean and was tidied every day. You have to go 2 or 3 doors down to Hostal Victoria I to check in and get your key but from then on you don't need to go back till you check out as the main doors are operated by CCTV so they open them when you buzz from the street. The beds were comfy enough and our room was on the 4th floor facing into the building so there was no view ( not that we cared at all ) but more importantly there was absolutely no noise which could be a problem for rooms facing the very busy and very lively Sol plaza. It is literally 20 metres from the Metro which is very handy. One slight negative is the receptionists don't really speak English well but you'll get your point across in the end! If you're on a budget and want to be central then you'll be hard pushed to find something better for the money.

The best thing about this hotel is the location: right in front of lively Puerta del Sol, with the convenience of a Metro station right there, and great tapas bars and restaurants around the corner! The room was small, but very clean and it looks like it was recently updated. We were in the 4th floor and didn't notice any noise from the street at all, closing the windows and shutters blocked the noise completely, the A/C worked fine and looked new as well. The reception is in another building a few doors down Carretas street, but once you get your key there they monitor the hostal by CCTV and remotely open the main doors for you when you ring them, so there is no need to go there again till you check out.
"Great location (SOL)"

It is just in front of SOL station. Super convenient. There are Victoria I, II and III. I think II is pretty new (or renovated recently) Room is not spacious and doesn’t have a view at all but what you need is all equipped. There are cafes at next door (not eat-in, though) To check in & out, you have to go to Victoria I first, it bothered me a bit because I had to have my suitcase with me all the time when going up to the reception desk in Victoria I and going down after receiving key, then going up in Victoria II this time to unpack. Good thing about I & II is they are located pretty close to each other. Still, staying at Victoria I would be the most convenient. Victoria II is being monitored from Victoria I, so it is totally safe. There are zillions of hostals, guest houses nearby, hostal Victoria is one of those. I paid 39 euros per night (single room without breakfast in Jan), it is, I think, great deal for this location in Madrid and the quality of the room. All in all, I enjoyed this hostal, but I would rather stay another hostal when I come back to Madrid.
