Ramada Seoul Dongdaemun - Seoul

I have stayed at many hotels in Seoul and this one is probably the best value in town. Location: Near downtown Seoul in Dongdaemun (means Great East Gate). Close to Dongdaemun subway station (take Exit #7) and walk 5 minutes. Unfortunately taxi drivers are not very familiar with the hotel. You can tell the taxi driver to go to the Acacia Hotel in Dongdaemun […] or just grab one of the hotel cards before leaving. Room: The room is quite spacious. It is bright and clean and modern. There is a built in washer/dryer in each unit. I have used it several times during my business trips. They do provide their own detergent but with a small fee. Plenty of closet space and overall you feel the room is spacious for your needs. However, the bathroom is a bit small, but have everything you need, toilet, sink, shower, towels, etc. Air conditioning works fine. Food: The breakfast food here is horrible. Both the Western and Korean food is barely edible. Coffee is just warm dark brown water. After trying the breakfast I decided to have the rest of my meals outside the hotel. I think management needs to rethink their offerings for breakfast. I would recommend that you take a look at the food first before deciding on eating there. Receptionists were very helpful and courteous. The bellboy who carried our heavy suitcases to our room even refused to accept our tip, claiming "it is my job." It was cold in Seoul...about 17 degrees F. It was so cold in our room I had to sleep in my coat. I went to complain and the staff told me that we needed to request to have the heat turned on....that is probably a piece of information I could have used at check-in. This is not a good hotel for business nor for vacations. Even though it is very easy to move around Seoul, this hotel is a bit far from most places. Everything looks old, no internet in the rooms, breakfast is not very good. If you can afford to pay a bit more look for another place.

Good price compared to the rest of the hotels in Seoul. Staff was very helpful for translating and giving instruction of how to get to places by subway. Close to airport shuttle and subway. Only negative is hotel charges for internet access in the rooms. Free in the lobby.

This hotel is a nice blend of traditional meets modern. Traditional in the sense of room and layout. Modern as in the nice amenities it offers. However, the room Amenities didn't quite much with the description while there is no microwave, Complimentary newspaper, Air cleanser is not working and there is no power plug near the working desk. This was my first time visiting Seoul and we stayed at a fantastic hotel. The staff was very helpful with telling us where the shopping market was as well as where to eat because my daughter is a vegetarian. The hotel and room were very, very clean. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. It is very central to so many things to do in Seoul.

Despite the friendlyness of the hotel staff, we were disappointed with the condition of the hotel. We were allocated for 3rd floor upon checked in on 16/12 and discovered in the evening when we returned after shower that the floor of the toilet has been flooded with water. we have to put a towel on the floor in order to use the toilet. towels also looked […] dirty as if not properly washed. We complained to duty manager and requested for checked out but agreed to stay on after the duty manager agreed to change the rooms for us. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Most speak english. It is located in local working area and thus walking back or from the hotel one might encounter many local carpentry shops, kitchen wares shop etc. But it is in walking distance to Dongdaemun (about 8 mins walk). The hotel is pretty good and the service by the front desk is excellent. However the buffet breakfast quality needs to be improved. It wasn't satisfactory especially if breakfast does not come with sausages or some form of meat apart from cereal, eggs, fruits, juices and pancakes. The location is not too bad if one does not mind walking about 25 minutes […] to Dongdaemun. It's not exactly near but neither is it too far. The location is good, about 10 minutes walk to subway station, in front of the hotel there's a traditional market which sell seaweed and dried seafood and ginseng very well. The hotel service is good too... Breakfast taste is average and the menu served is very simple.

I would consider this a "downtown" hotel, although Seoul is a very large city, and it's hard to tell just where downtown might be. Staff were excellent. My family stayed in a room accomodating 4 people. This room was quite spacious with plenty of cupboard and hanging space (although limited space to put our luggage). The room was extremely clean, supplies were kept stocked and it had a large TV with channels in multiple langauages. Only two negatives, the heating was set too high (although small windows […] could be opened and the front reception staff arranged an english speaking maintenance person to come and show me how to adjust the temp.) and the temperature of the shower was inconsistent. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Key staff could speak English and/or Japanese but please note that their vocabulary is limited, however, all staff try their best to help, even if they can't understand your language. Breakfast was included in the room rate. This was a mixture of western and local food. Not quite a banquet but enough to keep you going for the day. However, beware of the plastic bread rolls - they are put in the corner for decoration but look so realistic that a number of people have taken and tried to eat them. The hotel is not in the most glamorous part of town (although at no time did I feel unsafe) but it is within 3-5 min walk of 2 different subway stations and only a few stops away from the centre of Seoul. A couple of 7-11 type stores nearby, as well as money changers and some local restaurants, but you will need to go elsewhere for other dining options (apart from the hotel restaurant). Read more

I booked this hotel as an expedia mystery 4 star hotel, but was disappointed. If I'd booked three star, then it would have been fine, but it really didn't have much in the way of ammenities, and it certainly doesn't match expedia's own description of what a four star hotel is. It was a nicely appointed hotel, though they only have double beds available in the rooms. The staff at the front desk weren't the most knowledgeable of places to eat in the local area, but other than those minor things, it was a lovely place to stay.
