      We were so happy with our stay at Hunters Lodge, it is a bit off the beaten path if you are traveling to Bath or Stonehedge, but it is beautiful country in Wincanton. Hunters lodge was great, staff was personable, very accommodating and kind. They upgraded us to a larger room without charging, got us a crib for our 2 year old, and went out of their way to make sure our son was happy in their restaurant. The dinner and breakfast (included) was great, we couldn't have been happier. The animals were fun for my son to see, even in snow. If the weather was warmer their is a great playground for your kids! The best part was the great value!

      We had a wonderful 3 night stay at this beautiful, quaint thatched roof inn and pub.... With modern annex rooms which we highly recommend. The inn owners and staff were very friendly and the food served was excellent....try the braised partridge and the chocolate orange cake/ pudding.... Aside from Dorchester being nearby and Thomas Hardy's cottage and house etc....Cerne Abbas and the historic town of Sherborne are easy to get to .....take the back country B roads to go through picturesque villages....The Khemani's from Washington & Toronto

    Staff exceedingly friendly. Our bedroom was up some awkward stairs but assistance was given with our suitcases, Full English breakfast more than adequate.We had a few small complaints which were welcomed and dealt with by the owner. Hotel is just on the edge of Dorchester,opposite the main hospital, but not too far to walk to the furthest museum.
