"Good view, run down room"
The first room's door to the balcony would not close because the frame was rotted. Changed our room but the new room had mold on the walls and the window facing the ocean was cracked in half. The restaurant closes at 3 pm which is not very convenient to guests arriving after 3 pm. Bottom line is that we were okay to stay one night, but very disappointed.

"False advertising"
False advertisement. The hotel pictures look better than the hotel. It is a bit run down and we were not happy with the service. We overpaid to stay there. I would not pay more than $US 60/night. There was no wifi in the rooms as advertised. The shared balconies are tiny and you have no privacy. The hotel has great potential but needs some reinvesting and waitors need to learn better manners!!

"Run down, overpriced"
The only thing going for this hotel is that it's on the beach, but don't let that draw you in. This place is really run down. When we arrived our AC was stuck on a not-so-cold temperature (which they informed us about at check in but didn't seem to think was a big deal), our toilet was broken so we had to manually flush every time by reaching into the nasty tank, the beds/pillows were lumpy and smelled like urine, and there was loud music playing across the street until 3am. Definitely NOT a $70/night experience. We asked for a discount at check out, but received a 'meh' response.

"Flooded rooms, no electricity, no water. Stay away"
During our stay, there was a storm passing by Mexico. You would think that this hotel is prepared for storms such as this (they're in a tropical country afterall) but no. Our rooms got flooded, we lost power and the hotel did not have water at all! They claimed that "it was the government" who cut the power off, meanwhile our friends staying in the same area/ other hotels are perfectly fine. We understand that the weather was terrible but it was very evident that this hotel does not invest in the improvements of their property. Even during the wedding reception (done in the same hotel), the ceiling was leaking uncontrollably onto the wedding guests' table. It was an incredibly terrible experience. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!

"Location, Location, Location"
The location (and free breakfast option) trumps all other issues with this hotel. This is by no means a high-end hotel. If you are a seasoned traveler (and by 'seasoned' I don't mean fly around the world in first class and only stay at a resort), you won't care about a thing. The room was clean and the bathroom was okay. The folks at the hotel are friendly. We had no issues while staying except for having to move two bedrooms at check-in before finding a room without a leaky air-conditioner. I do hope the management would look into renovating the hotel before it's too late. But, you forget all of that when you have a view out your window. And the swimming pool is a HUGE bonus. Bottom line: If you've traveled extensively around the world and have seen a lot, you won't care about these problems.

If you are looking for a "locals" hotel, this is it! We are no fans of the big, all inclusive hotels all over that part of Mexico. HM was clean and neat, but simple. The rooms are all you need... a safe, AC and lots of space for your stuff. The staff was GREAT! Especially Andre, breakfast and dinner waiter! Breakfast was great and different everyday. The coffee was especially great and with that view from the breakfast patio, it was the perfect spot to decompress. Puerto Morelos is a super special little town, just enough off the beaten track!

"Overpriced, with some incredibly unhelpful staff"
This hotel was grossly overpriced. Our room was not great. TV and air conditioning were both broken. When I told the woman at the front desk, she just shrugged. The next morning, the manager kindly allowed us to check out an hour later because of the problems. I left my bathing suit in the room by accident when we checked and emailed to ask if the hotel had it. The manager emailed right away and said it was there. However, when I returned to pick it up, the staff was almost completely useless. The guy at the desk opened one cabinet, looked in quickly, and determined it wasn't there. It took more than 15 minutes of my harassing him to open more cabinets and actually look through them before he was able to muster the energy to find it. It was deeply annoying, especially considering that he had nothing else going on. Breakfast was fantastic. The staff there was very kind and did a great job. I would recommend staying somewhere else and going in for breakfast.

"Not a restful night"
The location of this hotel is great, but overall it needs attention. The rooms have only single knob locks which did not make us feel secure, and the doors rattled horribly all night. There was a huge party going on across the street until 4 am that sounded like it was in the room. The beds were rock hard as well. Not much sleep to be had here. We went to the hotel restaurant for coffee and after we told the waiter we stayed there overnight, were charged $4 for 2 cups of coffee and the buffet would cost us 110 pesos each. After we paid we found out that the coffee and buffet were included with our room.

"Great value for location and amenities."
We stayed here several times and always enjoyed it. It's a perfect location to enjoy the beach and easy walk to main square. It seems as if the hotel has gotten a bit of a face-lift in amenities. The pool-side chairs were in great condition and the area relaxing. The restaurant is now open, although the service one morning was so bad that we had to leave and go elsewhere since we could not get a waiter to serve us. This was a huge disappointment. I mentioned to the front desk personnel, but not sure if anything was done. The shower worked great with plenty of hot water except that the drain plugged and you were soon standing in a pool of water. I didn't especially like the toilet seat cover that didn't really cover the toilet and really should be replaced in 101. The staff, especially Alex, were exceptional in response to any problems. We plan to stay here again as the convenience, off-street parking, and spaciousness of the rooms are worth the cost. Don't expect a 5-star resort. This is a local hotel in a fishing village. If you want luxury, stay elsewhere.

"February Vacation"
This was a nice experience with a nice view of the beach - on the end of the beach so not many people. Not a lot of music during the week for entertainment. The local bars were not too crowded and service was as on the norm as I was told but there were a few good exceptions. Beautiful sunrises and watching the boats go by. Snorkeling and scuba diving was available everywhere but I didn't partake in any of those adventures. Food was all good every where I went. I would go back again.

"Great stay at a "smaller town " feel."
Ok, not a lot of extra's in the room, but the atmosphere makes up for it. It has a small Mexican town feel, with anything you really need. The restaurant staff were excellent in their attentiveness, for instance, the rooms do not have a fridge or minibar, but the restaurant staff will provide you will a cooler, and replenish ice for you anytime you request. Our room was by the pool, in sight of the restaurant, and they would serve us on our "patio table" just outside our room, when we wished that. I think we had the best part of the beach in the area.....picturesque, quiet, and tranquil, or walk a couple of blocks to the town square for more restaurants, shops or what ever else. It's not Ritzy, but it is personal and friendly, and very reasonable. I will go back again, hoping I find it exactly the same.

"Great location, but you get what you pay for"
We have been to PM many times and found this hotel to be very conveniently located near the square. We were on the ground floor right by the pool and restaurant--it was great to just sit on the patio outside our door and look at the ocean. They also have free Wi-Fi. Room was basic but fine for our needs--clean but a little outdated, but a deal because of the location! Downside--they appear to never let you check in earlier than 3 o'clock despite rooms being ready--the lobby is filled with bags of waiting renters until then. The "American" breakfast that is included in some packages is just toast and coffee OR juice. And there is just a single doorknob lock on the doors to the unit, which made us uneasy being on the ground floor with a door to the hallway and a door to the pool area. But for the location and price, we may return again!

The front desk lady told us on arrival that we needed to take a first floor room or a room near the noisy pool ( she said that hotel.com or expedia rooms were not negotiable) whereas in the ad we had in print we were attracted to the upper floor room with a balcony....we were very tired from a 4hr drive and so we were not happy with the reception...it all turned out ok we ended up with a room with a balcony on the less noisy 2nd floor.

Great location, great town, no frills, no glamor. Great staff. If you can accept that everything is not necessarily working perfectly, like shower or TV, it's a relaxing place to hang out by the pool, a base for excursions etc. Not good for small children, the pool has no shallow end. We enjoyed it, we could afford two rooms since the price is pretty reasonable. WI-fi worked well.

"Think twice before booking!"
Great location but it needs so much more--at so little effort. Repairs that have been are shoddy--crumbling walls, paint on surfaces and a shower that took 15 minutes to drain before someone else could use it. Balcony so so small that you have to put your chair sideways. No tv the entire time--5'days--and wifi was down for 2 days. Better hotels available.

"Great location but probably won't stay there again"
It wasn't bad. It was clean and the staff was mostly friendly (don't expect to be waited on or be helped right away if they are talking with friends/coworkers, etc). My only true complaints would be the lack of towels, lack of mini-fridge and lack of a safe in the room. Other than that our stay was fine; it's a very basic hotel room (hard bed, 2 tiny pillows, 1 flat sheet on the mattress, 1 flat sheet as a cover). The location is fantastic, it has a pool and it's on the beach. Towels: They don't provide hand-towels or wash-cloths, only one bath towel each for your entire stay (we stayed 3 days, same towel - they might give you fresh towels if staying longer). I'm OK re-using my shower towel but would've liked a hand-towel at least (wash-cloth would've been bonus!). No pool towels either, they were always "at the cleaners" even though 75% of the hotel was vacant during our stay (maybe they clean ALL the towels at once and it takes days?). We did get a pool towel on our last day though! Mini-fridge: There is no mini-fridge in the room. We had to walk to the convenience store (few blocks away) several times a day to buy fresh (cold) water. Not a big deal, but would have been nice to have. Safe: There are no safe's in the room, so no where to keep passports, cash, valuables, etc. We also had random people going in and out of our room during our stay (repairmen using our balcony to access the room) so it was uncomfortable having to keep valuables on us at all times.

"Nice location, but very rundown"
I liked the location on the beach, and only a one-minute walk to the town center and best restaurants. But the facility itself is badly in need of renovation. (In fact, they were working on it while we were there, making for a lot of noise.) At one time, they clearly had a restaurant, but there was no food of any kind available. The rooms are basic: with a simple hard bed, and AC - but that's about it. Promises of WIFI were only half-right. It no longer works in the rooms, but only in the lobby, which was always full of people online. Overall, it's OK for a budget-minded traveler, but really, you should get much more for 90$ US a night.

"Comfortable hotel right on the beach"
We only stayed one night, and for us, the location of the hotel was its best feature. At night we were able to sit out on the balcony and hear the ocean waves hitting the shore and see the fishing boats bobbing in the water. The next morning we awoke early and hit the beach by 6:00 am, after watching the sunrise. The beach was quiet and beautiful at that time of the morning and the lighting was spectacular for photo-taking. The room was spacious and clean and comfortable. The hotel was renovating their restaurant and bar, so these amenities were not available.

"Needs work."
The room was kind of institutional in nature. The beds were very hard with sheets so thin they were transparent with no mattress pad so it was like sleeping directly on a bare mattress. The room was clean with a small balcony overlooking the ocean but it was over priced. The owners could update easily by getting some decent sheets AND mattress pads. Also a washable rug or bath mat next to the bed would be nice. The drain in the bathroom smelled like sewage but that might have been due to the rain.

"GREAT beach front / walkable to town square"
Where it's located is GOOD with short walk to town square/eateries/shopping. Beach area is GREAT! Our room was comfortable and CLEAN. Housekeepers are friendly and do what they can to help you. Drawbacks were; window screens ripped or gapped up to 2 inches (causing the need to shut windows at night instead of hearing the waves), there were NO WASHCLOTHS OR HANDTOWELS, door stopper had to be held up by hand in order to shut the door, NO COFFEE MAKER/REFRIGERATOR/MICROWAVE, our room upstairs had no closet, no safe and plug in for toothbrush/curling iron was ACROSS the bathroom (not near the sink and with no shelf to put stuff on). Patio area is GREAT! It's large, part open/part covered, lots of tables and chairs and they provide a couple of hammocks which are great! IF washcloths, coffee maker and fridge are added - we would go back and there stay! The "ocean view" is really spectacular!!

"Nice hotel ON THE BEACH"
This is a nice place for a good price. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. The location is excellent- right in town and right on the beach- doesn't get better than that. We didn't get around to using the pool with the great snorkeling in Puerto Morelos, but it looked clean. A couple of quirky things: our room didn't have a safe, but our friends' did. They had a balcony and we didn't. All in all, I'd stay here again and I'd recommend it if you're not a fancy resort kind of a traveler. Hotel Hacienda is the perfect beach hotel. From the front, it isn't spectacular, but every room is in the back facing the ocean. The beach is just below. Puerto Morelos is in-between Cancun and Playa del Carmen. Cancun is too big and touristy for me. La Playa is becoming the next Cancun. PM is small, but with plenty to do. Hotel Hacienda fit all my needs. Clean, close to shops and restaurants, cab stand, combis, etc. The staff was so nice. If you would rather experience the real Mexico rather than the tourist ghetto of Cancun, this hotel and Puerto Morelos is the place to stay. Right on the beach- with wonderful views out your window and from your small porch, the hotel, while basic, is clean, friendly and safe. What more could you ask for? "Hotel Hades Hacienda Morelos"
The staff was really nice but the place is very run down. Had I known the place was in such disrepair I would have stayed somewhere else. My fiance is still having aches from sleeping on their bed. It is very close to the beach. The hotel itself is on a street that is a little scary looking if walking alone at night. There's an empty lot across the street and when all of the shops close it is dark/vacant on the block. Plus, there was a light out or maybe there wasn't a street light there at all. I refused to walk it with my fiance at night which prevented us from enjoying the after hours entertainment. During the day when the shops are open it is hard to get down the street with the store owners stopping you to try to get you into their shops. Random dogs roam the streets and walk up to you when you are trying to enjoy your meal. Overall, if you really want to enjoy your vacation and are not an "earthy" type or crunchy person then it is better to just stay at a resort. Truth.

"Can't get closer to the beach."
A staff with your safety and comfort in mind and a view of the Caribbean that can't be matched, isn't this what we are looking for in a moderately-priced hotel? I have stayed here twice, and on each occasion, the atmosphere of the coast and the kindness of the personnel convince me it was a great idea. You have choices at the all-inclusive non-Mexico hotels, but if you want to BE in Mexico and enjoy nearby restaurants, fiestas, coffee shops, and convenience stores, and - OH - the beach. This hotel even has an on-site dive/snorkel service.

"Great respite from "timeshare madness""
My husband and I finished off our last 3 nights of 10 in Riviera Maya with a return to our favorite down to earth little beach town, Puerto Morelos. We went from this huge monstrousity called the Grand Riviera Maya to this beautiful little beachfront motel with a crystal clear small pool and 3 steps down to the beach. The room was really big, but could have used a couple more chairs. The bed was clan and comfy, shower ran strong, and the people there were very kind. We did not receive any breakfast as was described (European plan) because the restaurant was closed which was just past the lobby of the hotel. Everything is in walking distance, so it wasn't really a big problem. The room was such a good price we didn't even mention it. The dive shop attached to the south end of the place on the first floor was wonderful, and we went snorkeling on the protected reef with a very experienced local. The whole stay was a little slice of heaven. We would come back again.

Puerto Morelos seems to have the entire infrastructure needed for a tourist destination, however seems rather neglected and abandoned. The food wasn’t very good and there was no shade from the sun on beach. My husband and I only stopped in for a day and a night as we headed north having an early flight out of Cancun the next morning. Cancun proper is not our style with all the resorts and such, so we wanted quiet. And quiet is what we got. The hotel was quiet, clean and had great view of the ocean. My husband and I had a great romantic evening on the beach and over all we had a great time ;)
