"Three nights in NYC"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
The first thing that hit us was the size of the room, it was huge, was like having two or three normal size hotel rooms. Fairly convenient location, like everything in NYC it's only a cab ride away!
"Best Location"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
My friend and I had a lovely room our only regret being that there were no drink making facilities and no hot water for drinks available in the hotel. It was very quiet, no noise on the 3rd floor and the hotel decor was very nice. The room was clean. The best bit was the location. We were opposite green space with a Starbucks 1 minute away (for our hot drinks) and Central Park 2 minutes away, at the end of the street. Central Park walks were a wonderful way of contrasting the hustle and bustle of downtown (which we reached by subway) with this charming classic area.

Close enough to Times Square for ease of access but far enough away to avoid the noise. Handy for the subway. Room bigger than expected for a New York hotel. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of it

"Great location, service and super chic. Tiny rooms"
This hotel is a knockout. Brand new - in fact some rooms are still being built - and very hip. Loved the nautical windows. If you have the money to shell out for a big suite you're laughing. We didn't, and opted instead for the most basic room. And while it was very comfortable and I loved the modern, minimalist decor, it was very small. Having said […] that, I would definitely stay there again. The staff was lovely, the pool area is great for a few cocktails and to watch the 'beautiful people' and the location is perfect, right near the Chelsea Markets -which I love. But don't book this place if you're planning on spending a lot of time in your room. Claustrophobics in particular... Read more

"Flashy but not functional"
Hotel is very hip, well located next door to Chelsea market, it is flashy with metallic decoration which gives a very positive first impression. When you enter the room, you realize how small it is and at night you cannot read in your bed despite numerous, but badly located lamps. To switch off the lamps, you have to understand that you have to use the […] screen of the telephone and after using 4 icons lights go off. While shaving, you realize that the trendy stainless sink does not close and you have to let the water flow. I need a good bed to sleep and find one in most hotels, but at Dream, the bed is very large and stylish, but so soft I did not sleep well during the 6 nights I spent there. I had room 401 and hope that the other rooms are better. The positive comment is the internet connection which is excellent and free. Read more

"Dream Downtown: Fantastic base for New York"
We stayed a week and really enjoyed everything about the hotel, stylish, comfortable, fantastic customer service. First night we had really noisy neighbour in room next door: one quick call to reception resulted in neighbour being told to keep it down and an apology from reception the next morning. Rest of the time hotel was really peaceful in the room […] yet really lively in the reception bar, great atmosphere (though on arriving at midnight on a Saturday receptions clubby atmosphere was a surprise) Location brilliant, Chelsea Market 2 mins away for great breakfast..and the rest of NY on your doorstep. Will return! Read more
"Good location, mediocre service and noisy"
This was the only time that I arrived at a NYC hotel prior to the 3pm check-in, was told that a "rush" would be put in to prepare my room, and ended up not being able to get into the room until 3:30pm. The hotel itself was certainly exciting in desing, and the room was adequate. I did have a terrific view of the Empire State Building from my 6th floor […] room. I found the room's lighting system difficult to use, and the elevator service was also awkward & needed the use of the room key. This seemed to be a hotel for young people who were out to party. The lobby became crammed and noisy at night. The room across from mine must have contained at least 4 very loud young women who began talking at the top of their voices in the morning, continued throughout the day and invited others to party in their room at night. One could hear doors slamming in the hallways and people yelling in the hallways until the early morning hours. In some ways, it felt like being in a frat house. The location was this hotel's most redeeming and met my goal of being idowntown and close to the subway. Iwould not stay in this hotel again. Read more
"Lives up to its name"
I stayed at The hotel and was really outstanding for the locatibriefed thiugh not right in time sq it's about two subway stops but perfect enough as it has the real NY night life there, Chelsea markets with the best coffee and shopping was good! The staff were very friendly especially Eric and another guy sorry forgotten name told us of some great night […] spots to have a drink and also locations to get around! Subway is 50m walk to city and the rooms are very nice I want to take home or buy the bed!! We stayed ten days and loved that wifi was there too!! Nice gym area and pool deck + the two night clubs are great HP on the roof over looking New York... Thanks Dream downtown the price we paid was amazing and made our NY stay best trip!! YTD we will definately stay again as NY is big and needs more exploration!! Cheers see you soon Read more

The room itself is small but comfortable. The location of the hotel is convenient We also enjoyed the rooftop bar called "PhD". The drinks are expensive but tasty, and the crowd is mostly twenty-somethings, but fun. Staff was accommodating.
"Bring ear plugs"
Clean, comfortable, convenient and upmarket - But there's a night club on the roof - so unless you're joining in or staying out very late, be prepared for some doof doof doof late into the night.

"Dream Hotel was definitely a dream!"
After a long flight, we arrived at the Dream Downtown hotel and we were very impressed. The staff was welcoming and very courteous. The room was fascinating. Although I still question how they knew we left the room, every time we came back to the room it was clean! I highly recommend staying at this hotel. Dream Hotel has my business from this day […] forward. Read more
"Austin Powers"
Very unique hotel! Service was kind and courteous. Location is very hip and cool.
"Will definitly be going back!"
The hotel was truly amazing. Small in size but that is all part of the amazing NYC experience. The service was over the top and entertainment was awesome. The only one thing I can say that may reflect as negative was that our room had a humid smell to it. Nothing so aweful it would make anyone sick just a weired smell. I will for sure be going back […] amazing time and stay :) Read more
"Disappointing and rude"
The Dream Downtown hotel is trendy and pretty to look at for a few minutes. However, once in your room, you start to notice how the furniture is very cheap and already falling apart (even though the hotel is only a year or two old). The staff was rude and showed very little interest in your comfort. One of the elevators was broken but they didn't provide […] a sign or did not encourage guests to wait their turn for the elevators. The worst part of our stay was not being allowed access to the Rooftop Bar. The lobby bar and restaurant was packed so we wanted to grab a drink in the hotel rooftop bar. We were told to wait behind "the ropes" (as if this is a club!) and we explained we were guests at the hotel. Other people came in from the street and were allowed into the elevator without hesitation. It is very inappropriate to advertise a facility for guests and not allow access. I live in NYC and will never recommend this hotel to anyone that is traveling to the city for business or pleasure based on the rude attitude of the staff, poor amenities in the rooms, and pretentious culture. You are not going to regret staying at this hotel. The pictures in the website actually match the actual room in the hotel. The service was great.

"Meatpacking district"
The hotel is conveniently located in the meatpacking district. There are many clothing stores and great restaurants within walking distance. The staff is friendly, the decor is hip and modern. I would definitely recommend staying there and I would return.

"The only place to be and stay at in NYC"
I'm a frequent traveler to NYC and during my travels I've stayed at some of NYC's top hotels. I started coming to the dream in Nov 2011 and it's the only place I stay at now. The ambiance and decor are absolutely stunning from the comfortable lounge couches in the main lobby and sophisticated mixes coming from the resident dj to the phd roof top and […] even the polar bear that was around during christmas - if you could dream up the perfect hotel, this would be it. The rooms are super stylish, yet comfortable and huge by new york standards. The staff and service are second to none. Helpful, friendly and honestly are ready to provide you with anything you desire, before you can even think it. And the food... whether you're dinning in your room or heading down to Marble Lane, I've tried every dish multiple times and all I can say is I highly recommend anything on the menu. The Dream Downtown is an absolute must stay at for anyone traveling to NYC. Read more
"Very Cool & High End"
This hotel was gorgeous and so were the people. If you are looking for a trendy place to see and be seen, you will love it. Restaurant was great. If you are looking for a hotel with convenient amenities, like a business room or coffee machine in the room, look elsewhere.

"Worth every penny!"
Great hotel, great staff, is the place to stay in NyC. Hiro and Chelsea market just steps away. Restaraunt and Room service we're delicious and huge portions. Phd rooftop was a great scene. Be patient behind that velvet rope, the bouncer seemed to value that. Immaculate hotel, superb service. Worth every penny! I was sad to leave.
"Bar policy"
I would never stay at this hotel again. After drinking in the hotel bar, we wanted to go up to the night club. Would only let my guest come if he paid $150 upfront. Because of this, I would never stay or recommend this hotel. Staff is way to full of themselves.
"Great for one or two"
This hotel is amazing, and full of beautiful people. The rooms are really small though, so no big groups. Everyone or every couple needs their own room in this hotel. Also not great for long hotel stays. But i'll stay there for all of my weekend getaways to NYC
"Party!"
If you like meat packing - and you like to party - this is the hotel for you! If you are in town on business for with family - then you should think twice:). Great service! Great location! Great hotel!
"Not quite as expected"
Ok- the long and short of it is that the hotel itself is good. Nice location- very modern edge feeling hotel. Rooms are rather spacious for NYC standards. The part that was annoying for me is due to the fact that I went there for the nightlife and was meeting up with a few friends out of town. I heard the Dream hotel had some pretty amazing lounges/clubs […] within the hotel. That being said, I paid good money for the room to have the nightlife available. We waited trying to get into the lounge upstairs and the club downstairs only to have rude doormen tell us they're not letting us in. I live in South Beach so understand about waiting a bit to get in somewhere but their poor approach left a very negative impact. Read more
"Great hotel, great Location, great price!"
Loved it!
"Awesome"
The room was pretty funky looking but was cheerfull, roomy and clean.Everything worked perfect. The temp in the room was perfect. We enjoyed our stay very much. The only thing we didn't care for was the club crowd in the lobby.
"Dream Location - Not So Dreamy Noise Levels"
Hotel is in a great location in NYC. Lots of good restaurants and night life in the area. Also a big night life seen at the hotel. Don't expect to access the rooftop bar during peek night hours unless you want to wait online outside the hotel. Hotel guests are not given any special access. The only other main complaint would be the noise level of the […] doors in the hotel slamming all night and morning long. The housekeeping staff is also very rude and loud in the morning slamming doors and talking loud enough for you to clearly hear their conversation complaining about guests and their work load. "Crawlin with drunken youth"
Place is nice enough and pretty funky but it really is an over the top party place, with generally indifferent staff and is crawlin with party animals. Not particluarly peaceful or relaxing... or even pleasant unless your on a binge
"Dream Downtown, NYC"
I want to give this hotel and overall 5 rating but two things happened that are preventing that: we had to be moved at midnight to a new room because the A/C wasn't working in our original room. Also, when we returned from dinner around 9pm, it appeared that someone had been in our room. The bed was made up again as it was when we arrived, and the TV […] was turned off. Very strange... "On Weekends the Hotel Guest Are Treated Unfairly"
I had a bad experience trying to access the bars located in the hotel on Friday and Saturday night. I was told by door men that I had to get a stamp from the front door man in order to access the bars that are advertised as part of the hotel. When I went to the front door to get a stamp I was ignored by the arrogant door guy who would not even come […] an talk to me. I showed my room key and he still would not even come and talk to me. I was out side of the hotel for which I had spent a lot of money per night without a coat only to be treated like I did not even matter. I finally had enough and went to the front desk only to be told that the bars a turned over to outside promoters and their was nothing they could do. This a horrible way to treat a hotel guys and unfortunate way to ruin my otherwise pleasant stay at a cool hotel. There needs to be a better system for paying hotel guest to access the hotel areas they are paying for. Read more
Great hotel, very comfortable bed, great location, but the room was pretty small
"Dream Hotel"
This hotel is stellar, would however caution folks who are looking for a quieter stay to just go elsewhere. Otherwise the service was great, the bars are fun and very NYC. Didn't make it up to the club during legitimate club hours, but it definitely sounded happening. In fact the noise could be heard on the 9th floor. Again, the only reason I not recommend […] this hotel. And the location is awesome, though actually in Chelsea, not SoHo. Read more
"Dream Downtown - hip New York Meatpacking district"
For those who love unusual interiors, clubbing (the hotel loves to party but rooms are quiet), and consider a gym and pool a bonus, for those who love to explore a district with designer stores, great eateries and proximity to Hudson river walks, the Dream Down Town is a fabulous place to stay. The only down side is, I wouldn't recommend eating breakfast […] or ordering room service there; the food is extortionately over priced and not that good. But I would definitely stay there again. "Dream Hotel downtown"
The hotel is very stylish and is in a great location. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. The only issue I have is with the bathroom in our hotel room. The door is a swinging door with large gaps around the edges and there is no doorknob, just a hole in the door. Also the toilet can barely flush. You have to flush it 3 or 4 times no matter […] what goes in there. Read more
"Dream downtown in NYC- great place!"
This hotel is the perfect place to stay if your looking for a beautiful hotel, great service, decent size rooms and the perfect location. It's located in the meat packing districts by some of the best restaurants and night life. A must experience hotel stay!
"Good neighborhood, Weird hotel"
While this hotel boasts it's uniqueness, we found it downright weird. Unless you're looking for a club feel in your hotel, keep looking. Overall, it was a clean, nice hotel, but the decor, and the small avante-guarde rooms made it frustrating awkward. The locals that hang out at the bar and club called themselves "promoters". We were looking for someplace […] comfortable and clean to come back to after a day of walking and siteseeing. Maybe for a fellow New Yorker who wants to fun hotel downtown, but I wouldn't recommend this for travelers. Read more
"Dream Downtown NYC"
great location, great place to party, but rooms were terrible. We had to try several different rooms before finding one that didn't smell musky and the service people didn't seem to care. They never even came to service/clean the room in between night. Just poor service altogether.
"Dream location, not much else!"
The Dream hotel downtown does have the dream location right in between chelsea, the meat packing district and the west village. unfortunately the hotel rooms are small and the bathrooms so uncomfortable your feet can barely touch the floor when you're sitting on the toilet. ya, you read right. Don't think I would stay here again...
"Partay"
This hotel is definitely a destination for anyone who wants to party. I was there for work conferences...so didn't get to enjoy the full complement of services. The food service was a little limited and expensive- but again, most people weren't stuck in their room working. I do have to add, I was in a suite so it definitely was the best of any circumstances […] with my pool view! Even NY'ers should check it out. Read more
"Dream Downtown - a new experience in Chelsea!"
Great hotel -- nouveau architecture, interior design. This hotel is intriguing just to visit to capture the unique exterior design (to me it looks like an enormous stainless steel cruise ship). The rooms are every bit as unique as the exterior - never seen anything like it! Service was great, the room was very uniquely decorated, but A+ all the way. […] The TV was one of those new samsung paper thin tv's -- 1080s HD, 50", better than what I have at home! Location is fantastic - I was there for work, so extremely convenient as I was just a block away. Great eateries all around, and good drinking as well. only 1/2 block from the metro. Only downside (potentially) is the night scene. The hotel has an all glass top floor that turns into a veritable night club -- the kind that attracts bentleys and ferraris to pull up with men accompanied by very tall, skinny, scantily clad women. Not to mention all the folks waiting in line...quite the scene if you're a single male. No noise or bother to me, just need to make your way to the door to get in with your hotel pass, then you're all set. Read more
"Dream Downtown in New York"
It is a beautiful place but they opened it too soon. Management and staff are not yet ready to host visitors and service is terrible. You will never get towels unless you make 3 calls daily and ask for them every morning.
