Beautiful hotel, great location, friendly staff. If you like a place out of the ordinary this is the place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We did not think it was worth the price we paid . Even though it was an older Hotel, there were many things they could have done to make it more accommodating. No Elevator, the room was half the size of a normal hotel room. It was the smallest queen bed that we had ever slept in. The water trickled out when we used the shower. There was no way to adjust […] the temperature except for the ceiling fan,(although it stayed between 72-75 in the room the entire time). And when we checked in, we could not find anyone working the desk, so I wandered to the hotel bar to get help checking in. We will not be back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"What a great throw back, but rooms are tiny"
If you are looking for something different, this is it. GREAT place with a wonderful bar and restaurant. This is totally different from your regular hotels. The rooms are tiny, meant for sleeping. There are great common areas for hanging out. If you want space and room privacy this isnt it. Plus the train runs by here within 100 feet, ack. "Ye Old English Inn"
I booked this hotel just by chance. I was looking for a hotel somewhat close to Silver Dollar City. Amazing location!! I travel a lot and this place was amazing. The coolest little place ever. Got there late on Saturday so didn't have a chance to check everything out. When I left on Sunday I saw so much stuff that I wanted to check out but didn't have […] time. Planning on booking a trip next month to check it out. Way cool!!!!! Hotel is absolutely amazing. Especially if u want to feel like you are truly at an English Inn. "We'll be back!"
We loved this place! Enough amenities and places to sit and chat or just read for quiet time. The only reason it wasn't perfect was that we did not know that there was a live band on Saturday nights and they placed us right over the outside courtyard where we could hear anything over the drums and singers voice until 11:00 pm when they shut Dow. But […] if I had told them we were there to get some badly needed rest she would have moved us to a room on the other side of the wing. The bath is tony and yes the door softly opens against the toilet in our tiny beautiful room. But it didn't bother us. The bathroom was very clean and modern. Our shower tub was very slow to train- about an hour. So we reported it. The beds were nice - not fantasticly high in wuality but comfortable. goid darkening curtains. I absolutely lived the wonderful amenity of hot tea and coffee in the reading areas with overstuffed furniture and lots if library choices. There us a nice little family breakfast/lunch diner, a pub and down a few doors some great little pizza and Mexican food restaurants. Little antique stores and only a hop away in the car to McDonalds, and Italian food , plus the strip. We lived it and we are going back! PS : I didn't feel it was really kid friendly. There were some there but it is not so much for kids . I chose to put my daughters family closer to the strip where the kids had more excitement to keep them busy. "Quaint Inn Convenient to Kanakuk"
We chose this hotel because of the proximity to Kanakuk. We stayed one night before picking up our daughter from camp. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff was accommodating and friendly. We also liked that it was away from the hubub of downtown Branson. We will plan to stay here next year too.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Built in 1912"
The hotel was built in 1912 but the owners, and staff, have done a great keeping up the building. The wing room we were in was small but I still felt comfortable being in the room. The updated bathroom was nice and clean. Comfortable mattress. Very close proximity to Branson Landing, an outdoor water front shopping center. Its about a five minute drive […] to the main Branson area. A good overall experience...I would go back. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Photos of room are misleading. Hotel room itself is TINY. Air conditioner buzzed and rattled ALL NIGHT LONG, sounding like an alarm clock buzzer. No fan in bathroom. Lobby aesthetic is lovely, but staff is unprofessional. Was unsure how to process Expedia booking so it took a long time to check-in.Genuine Expedia guest review

My wife and I definitely recommend this Inn. It is only a short distance (less than a mile) from the start of Branson. The rooms were like a bed and breakfast inn. Wonderful, clean, quiet and romantic! Would not have changed a single thing. There is a connected pub on one side of the Inn, and a newly opened and restored restaurant on the other. "Our Perfect Escape"
I looked over several reviews on this hotel (and several hotels) before chosing Ye Old English Inn. I took into consideration that you can't please everyone. The one thing almost every review had in common was the "small rooms" comment. Yes, they were small. Perfect, however, for my wife & I to celebrate our Birthdays (same day!). We came to see Branson, […] but loved this little Hotel so much we spent as much time there as we did Branson. The entire street the hotel is located on looked like another time period. With the Christmas lights on and the train depot across the street, it looked like something from a Dickens fabel. The room was clean & the bed was comfortable. The entire staff from the Front Desk (this is where the 1st impression started), to the resturant, to the Bar, were without question, "The Best". My wife was even awed by the cleaning person (who we never saw) because of the special clever way she left our towels and the bow left in the bathroom. We have spent our time in other hotels, both in business and pleasure, but Ye Old English Inn will hold a special and lasting memory in both our hearts & mind. WE WILL BE BACK!!!!!!! "Like staying in an historic novel"
We loved the historic ambiance of ye olde English inn. It was such a pleasant change from the usual motel experience. We liked the luxurious offerings (exclusive bath products, bath robes, European bedding, a large roomy shower). Felt really pampered. The regular rooms were small but quaint, the way rooms were designed in the past. The lobby looks like […] a backdrop for an historic novel. Take camera. The hotel has a pub downstairs so that is a true European feature too! That can be a plus or minus depending on the patron. "Great Hotel for a wonderful Experience!"
We had the highest room in the hotel. Large room! Rooms were not sound proof. Train track right outside of hotel. Rooms remind you of a bed and breakfast. No room service. Cafe below was not great but not bad either. Staff at Cafe were hurry, hurry! Coffee was for everyone, no in room coffee makers!! When you want coffee you must go to hall way with […] everyone else to get it. Area of town is quaint and very english style. Six miles from down town Branson. Parking was on the street. "Best kept secret in Branson area"
We hesitate to review this small hotel as highly as it deserves because we want to be able to get a room whenever we want. However, it's such a neat place to stay that we have to share it with others. A quiet, out-of-the-way, off the beaten track location in downtown Hollister, MO, the next door neighbor to boisterous Branson MO. If you're not interested […] in being in the middle of all the commercialism of Branson, then this is the place for you. The standard rooms are tiny, but there are spacious & comfortable public sitting areas that will atone. Free wifi is very fast, & flat screen tvs are in every room. We upgraded to a suite as it was available, but we would have been just fine in a standard room. But, if you're travelling w/family, you'll want to get a suite. 2 people on a short stay, can be very comfortable in the the smallish standard rooms. Bathroom was spacious, clean & had everything we needed. We are hard-pressed to find anything negative to say about our stay--maybe that the coffee could have been stronger? There isn't coffee in each room, but there is a very nice coffee service in the public area by the stairway. The Riverstone restaurant, attached to Ye Olde English served breakfast, lunch & dinner & was very good, affordable w/typical solid fare for the Ozarks. The staff was very helpful & friendly. A really good Mexican restaurant was down the street, as well as an excellent coffee shop. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

1912 hotel with a lot of history, renovated recently to resemble a European hotel. The rooms are small, as a lot of European rooms are, but it was comfortable for 2 and the bed was really nice. "Beautifully Restored 1912 English Inn"
My wife and I wanted a nice relaxing weekend in the Branson area to shop eat and relax. I have driven by the Ye English Inn “original name” ever since I moved to Springfield, Mo in 1997 and always wondered what it would be like to stay there. 3 factors prompted a stay there; 1) It is a historical Inn built in 1912 by one of the towns founders, W.H. […] Johnson. Mr. Johnson and his son W.W. Johnson are very well known in Springfield, Mo area for their neighborhoods that they developed and the homes they built. 2) Inn was completely remolded last year, and they just finished the third floor. & 3) The reviews! We arrived at the Inn very early, and since our room was clean they let us right in. The staff was very friendly and helpful. She informed us that there is a complementary breakfast and then showed us to our suite. The remodel was tastefully done, warm and inviting. Our first dining experience in the Inn was diner. We both had great meals and it was peaceful and relaxing. We both were looking forward to breakfast. It was nice and quite in the Inn that evening and we had a peaceful nights sleep. Breakfast the next day was just as wonderful and was included with our stay. We hated to leave and head home. But with the Inn only being 30-40 minutes away, we will be heading back this fall and Christmas to stay again. So if you are looking for a nice romantic getaway and you don’t want to stay in a cookie cutter hotel, this could be the Inn for you. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel has had quite a history, being built in the early 1900's (original construction). Obviously, the design of the hotel is dated and the rooms are smaller than you would expect at one of the "big name" hotels. But the other qualities of the hotel more than make up for the smaller room(s). The staff service was outstanding and the hotel's bar was […] very quaint and had an abundance of draft beer selections. The location was off the main road through town, so the activity from auto traffic was minimal - and parking was not a problem. I would return to this hotel at the drop of a hat (would start my journey before the hat hit the floor). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"unique, quiet atmosphere, a few minutes to Branson"
Absolutely loved it!!!! Pleasantly surprised. Like staying at an English summer cottage. The high end rooms are beautiful, unique and spacious. We stayed in a lower priced room which was small and cozy. However, there are quaint areas to relax in both on the first and second floors. There is always hot coffee or tea on the second floor and romance novels […] by Janet Dailey, the owner, to sit down and read on the first floor. The friendly staff and the little extras like the wonderful smelling soap and lotion, the super comfy pillows and the thick bathrobe to lounge in really made this hotel experience special. My husband got extra brownie points for picking the Ye Olde English Inn for our 40 year anniversary. After seeing the attractions in Branson it was nice to get back to our cozy home away from home at the end of the day. Ye Olde English Inn is truly a little hidden treasure for a getaway. "Ye Old English Inn -- Small"
The Room: Now, let me start of by saying that Ye Old English Inn wasn't bad. But the room was European in that it was very small. No more room than you needed. A bed, and a bathroom. The flat screen was a nice touch and let me tell you its a good thing it was flat because there was no room for anything else. The bed was comfortable at first but I tossed […] and turned all night long trying to get asleep and woke up several times. Also there are no climate controls in the room. You have to go downstairs and ask the front desk to adjust, which apparently also controls every other room too. The Breakfast: The breakfast was small. But it was also cooked to order. I had the scrambled eggs which seemed to be a little runny and they didn't have any fruit at all. The bar: Actually I kind of like the bar. There wasn't much to it but it had a cozy feel to it. The bartender had to look up how to make several of the drinks I wanted that I thought were fairly common ones, but thats ok. Everyone has got to start somewhere. The location: Now, it wasn't really all that hard to get to once you figured out that the road leading up to the hotel actually brings you to the rear of the hotel instead of the front. You kind of have to take a side ride to get to the strip where the hotel is. No big deal at all, though. Its was probably a 5 minute trip to the landing in Branson, which was nice. All in all if you're looking for a small room to spend 1 night, I'd stay again. But if you're looking for a little get away with the wife or the husband I'd keep looking. "Cute rooms, too many annoyances"
06/15/14 brighnasa Saint Louis, Missouri
I started out loving this place, but the cons were just too much to outweigh the positives. No elevators. Central air = the only control you had over the room temperature comes from opening or closing the register above the doors. And the noise. On Friday night, a band plays until 11pm. It's so loud it, you can clearly hear it on the second floor with the doors closed. I can't imagine how people can talk in the courtyard while they're playing. In the room, I could only get 1-2 bars on my ATT cell phone. It took multiple attempts to connect a call to someone in the same hotel. In the plus column, the place was very clean, the rooms were nicely appointed, and the free wifi was easy to connect to.

This hotel is wonderful! Charming, inviting, and cozy, the English Inn is a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Branson. The rooms are small, but comfortable and perfect for a cozy couple's retreat. The food is EXCELLENT and the pub is everything you would expect with some of the best bartenders around. Way more than you would expect from a little town in the heart of farm country! The front desk staff was attentive and polite and suggested many local attractions and hotspots you won't find in a travel guide. If you're looking for a quiet getaway that's still within walking distance to the best Branson has to offer, look no further than Ye Olde English Inn in Historic downtown Hollister.

I stayed there for the first time a few weeks ago and was surprised to find it. I've attending meetings in Hollister and Branson for years but never knew this little jewel existed. The service is great, the rooms are small but quaint. It has a nice relaxing feel and the pub is nice too. They may have an elevator, but I didn't see one. "A unique and fun historic inn with great service!"
10/23/13 MountainTeacher Bella Vista, Arkansas
During our three-day trip in Branson, we agreed that this Inn was our favorite part of our whole trip! The Inn is over a hundred years old and has been completely renovated while maintaining its beautiful Tudor charm. It is in a nice, quiet area away from the traffic and craziness, but also quite handy to Branson Landing as well as downtown. We loved the Black Horse Pub downstairs, where a very talented man with a group called the Medicine Man Show played great music. We also really enjoyed our delicious and inexpensive breakfast at the Inn's restaurant, which also serves lunch. All of the staff were wonderful and helpful. Our historic room, like most historic rooms, was small, but very comfortable and pretty, and they've made excellent use of the space. Everything was also very clean; I actually took a bath in a hotel tub for the first time ever because it was so clean! There is also a comfy area on the second floor landing for playing games or reading. My only tip would be that if you will have children along, you'd need to get one of the larger rooms. Our room was the standard size and was perfect for two, but there would be no way to fit children in. We have already decided this will be "our place" in Branson from now on!
"I loved this place!"
09/11/13 Momski54 DuPage County, IL
I needed a place to stay for one night before catching a plane back to Chicago and was a little turned off by most of the places I saw in Branson. Just not my cup of tea. I came across the Olde English Inn on TripAdvisor and was immediately swept away by the wonderful history of the building. Every inch has been lovingly restored and beautifully decorated. The author, Janet Dailey, is a native of Hollister and is one of the co-owners of the hotel. I was told that she personally oversaw each detail of the redecorating. Be sure to notice Thunder's antlers mounted over the fireplace...and the beauty is that Thunder is alive and well! The room I had was perfect for one person...exactly the size it would have been around the turn of the century. The bed was so comfy, I could have easily missed my flight! The little touches, the soaps and lotions, are custom made. Each room has a wonderful spa robe to use. I just loved the whole place. There isn't an elevator, just a gorgeous grand staircase, but that could make it difficult for someone with mobility problems. I had heard from the desk clerks about the wonderful masquerade wedding as another reviewer mentioned. I think they were as excited about it as the wedding party! The only thing I would like to see the hotel do is to add a couple of taxi cab company numbers to their in-room phone listing or offer to call a cab for me. It was imperative that I be able to get to the airport the next morning and they were not able to supply me with any numbers. The bartender in the pub did and I got good service from ABC Cab the next morning. That was the ONLY issue I had with my stay. I'm really looking forward to going back and having more time to delve into the history of the area. I thought the Inn was just great!
"Charming boutique hotel with tons of character!"
09/01/13 sscheid Sedalia, Missouri
I just had a destination, masquerade ball wedding for my step-son at this hotel. We booked all of the 21 rooms for 2 days, and had everything from the rehearsal dinner to the reception on the property. When I first started planning it was a little scary because it was difficult to communicate with the property manager at that time. Fortunately, she brought in an excellent event planning company (Branson Party Rentals) before she left. Her replacement was well organized, but one of the first times we visited her, the kitchen staff had walked out and she was in the kitchen. Turns out, all of this was a good thing because now, the hotel is well run, the food in the restaurant is excellent, and the pub and courtyard are loads of fun. The rooms are small but in great shape for the age. The chef is way better than you would expect to find in Hollister, Missouri and the staff could not be more accomodating. Highly recommended.
