Staff were very friendly and accommodating despite my late arrival. A little off the beaten track in terms of motorway network but roads to and from were fine. If I had to make a small criticism it was that the room had a slight chill in the air, however heater did temper this and the bedding more than compensated - it was lovely. Showers nice and warm. The main building was plenty warm enough with lovely log fires. A gem in the country, just my cup of tea, would stay again and look to arrive earlier so I can enjoy the ambiance a bit more, menu looked delicious.

The shower suddenly went cold, then off. Could not get it to run again and had to rinse off with handfuls of water from the tub spout. Hotel staff moved me to a suite where the shower did work.

We chose this hotel because it was on our route from York to Bath, not far from the highway and it had free parking. The room was large and clean and the bed was comfortable. It met all our expectations for a quiet place to spend the night and was much less expensive than staying in Bath on a weekend. They have air conditioning and a restaurant on the premises. We were very happy with our choice.

"Not at all like a superior room"
We were very disappointed with the supposed 'superior' twin room. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable, we had to get into the bath to run it as there was a static screen so unable to reach the taps without getting into the bath! The cleanliness of the room was also not good. I said that we were not satisfied with the standard of the room as no way […] was it a superior room. "Lovely hotel"
Lovely hotel with very nice breakfasts and very friendly staff. It's probably worth paying the extra for the higher level rooms if you want a lie-in though - we were in the basement in a very lovely room, but it was right underneath the breakfast room, and so was quite noisy in the morning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
