My wife and my stay at the Aston Shores at Waikoloa was superior. We had a two-bedroom, two-bath unit and there was a deck that went off both bedrooms and the large livingroom-dining room...The staff was outstanding...The cleanliness was perfect...The location couldn't have been better. The Aston Shores is part of a larger resort area that has two big malls that included several outstanding restaurants, and a golf course...For those looking to exercise, there is plenty of room to walk around the complex...You don't need to leave the Aston Shores but if you so choose, you are not far from the wonderful town of Kona with all its restaurants and shops...We wish we didn't have to leave but our vacation was over and we had to return home.

Overall, a reasonable place to stay if you have young kids and need space, but I think we paid too much for it. There are few amenities, like shampoo/conditioner, though they do provide laundry and dish soap. The age spots showed - for example, kitchen cupboard that were beaten up and in need of a paint job, or tiling which had been patch up rather than replaced. Air conditioning seemed like it always wanted to stay at 74 degrees regardless of what you told it to do. Location is good, near a convenient shopping center, and very quiet inside the complex. Nice people.

The front desk refused to move us. We asked to switched rooms and they kept saying check back with us 3x a day when they could have just written down our name and called us back. The little dark haired skinny young man at the front desk was especially rude. We had to run the Air Con all night and the fan just so we didn't hear car NOISE on the main drag all day and all night..The hotel is like an apartment complex right on the main drag on Alii drive. We had to switch hotels after 2 nights there. Would never stay there again...

We stayed here for the first 2 nights of our 10 day stay on the Big Island. Location was ok, not sure where else we would have selected. Service was ok by the owners, they seemed disinterested and tired. Tori, however was a bright and cheery start to our day! She provided a great breakfast each day on the lanai with a great view. Very beautiful location, excellent access to all areas of the island. For us, being away from congestion, in fact from any near neighbours at all was a plus. Excellent access to airport. Very good directions from owners to find location. Staff very very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we had the only room with shared bath. Home grown Kona coffee […] was excellent. Special thanks for the gluten-free breakfast that was magically prepared on the first morning without prior information. The shower water temperature was not adjustable, one of us felt that it was too cold.
