The place was nice, however when we went to check out is when we found out that we had to pay extra for the breakfast. Booking at a bed and breakfast usually means bed AND breakfast, not bed not including breakfast. We were surprised that the breakfast was not included and wasn't told this until we checked out. the owners were wonderful! They emailed us detailed directions how to get there via bus before we left the USA. The breakfast was simple but lovely. There was a 3 euro surcharge for breakfast which was much cheaper than anywhere else. They had fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, crusty rolls, ham cheese and juice and coffee and tea. There is a shared kitchen […] and microwave that we used to prepare our dinners. Ashling house is walking distance from restaurants, pubs, and even a bakery. There is a bus stop within a few feet. The owners even sell tickets for the hop on hop off busses that take you on local tours, which I would reccommend. The room did get warm but we turned down the thermostat and it was fine. I was concerned about the quality because of the low price...but it was marvelous. It was tastefully decorated. we asked for the location of a laundromat and the girl there in the morning volunteered to do our laundry. she returned it washed, ironed and folded!!! Very dissatisfied with this Band B. Very poor. We were greeted by wet towels on the floor in the hall, from the daily downpour of a leaking shower above. The staff were two very young polish girls, who could not understand my London accent, even tho I only asked for a glass of water and the toilet. Another, American guest had to translate for me. We […] did not set eyes on the owners or manager. Breakfast was criminal. No cooked breakfast, make your own toast, and if you can figure out how to use the little gadget, boil your own egg !! - For which there is an extra charge. - Breakfast not included in the price. The room was bare of all but the most essential. As a place to stay before a flight it was OK but I wouldn't go back there as it has absolutely no appeal.

I have no fault to find with my stay - except that the room was far too hot and I couldn't turn the radiator down. The hospitality was warm and friendly, the breakfast adequate and the location very convenient.
