In common with most small family hotels that are converted houses, the accommodations where somewhat compact, the shower cubicle in particular, but everything I needed was provded and worked well. The breakfast was fantastic and much better than I expected from this price range. However the most impressive aspect of my stay was the people who run the hotel. Steve, Karen and their family were absolute stars, who could not have made me more welcome. The next time I visit Blackpool the Marsden will be my top choice for friendly service and value for money.

Very nice hotel, excellent location, good for us businessmen, nice restaurants nearby, good staff, clean, free internet, etc... I'll stay there everytime I have business at Warton.

I chose this hotel because I wanted to be in a more remote countryside location. This place did not dissapoint. We had a beautiful view from our room and the breakfast room. It was also not too far away from some small towns for food and activities. The room was comfortable and clean though the bed was a little too soft for us. With the exception of that, everything else was wonderful. The breakfast was also very good and they had options. Something I was very apreciative for as the full English breakfast is a bit heavy for me in the morning. Owners were very nice and helpful with great suggestions for food and driving directions. Would recomend this location to others and we plan to stay here again.

The Howbeck is perfect in every way - from the four-poster bed to the amazing breakfast to the complimentary bedside sherry - you can't ask for more. The staff is delightful and very helpful, making dinner arrangements and providing weary travellers with tea in the lounge. The facility is very well-kept and beautiful. There are many properties to choose from but I'd stay at the Howbeck again in a heart-beat.

This guest house is not very inviting it looks like it needs some TLC. I think we were the only people staying there despite the sign in the window saying no vacancies. The bedroom and bathroom were very spacious, but lacked the cosy / homely feel. There was no heating on in our room when we arrived but we thought it would come on later, but when we […] got back it still was not on. My husband went downstairs to check if the other radiators were on, he said they were. Then there was a knock at the door it was the landlady she said she had seen my husband walking about downstairs! I told her there was no heating on in our room, she said it should have come on at 3pm so she went in another room to check the boiler, she said someone must have been playing about with it and they had switched it off! she said sorry about that and the heating came on. The window in the bedroom would not close properly and it was quite windy and cold, so we tried to close it but realised it was broken, there was an annoying whistling noise coming from it so we stuffed it with plastic bags which helped. The breakfast was served downstairs in the basement, it felt cold down there and not very inviting we had cereal to start only 2-3 choices, the cooked breakfast was partly cold and they did not ask us if we would like more toast, we did not see anyone again. I would certainly recommend this Guest House to anyone. My husband was not very well whilst on our break and he was treated with the utmost help and compassion. "Pleasant stopover in sea front hotel."
From the outside this is a typical large terrace hotel that you find at the seaside.Inside the dimensions are very generous.We had a large room with a large bathroom and tea making facilities.The owners were very helpful and welcoming and the breakfast very good A word of warning though if you have any mobility problems make sure you ask for a ground […] floor or first floor room.
