My stay at the Grand Mercure Apartments was very good, it was close to the main place I was attending the conference at and central to transportation and the supermarket to buy supplies. The appartment was in very good order and could not fault it, however the bed was not as comfortable as it could have been and the view could have been even more magic […] but for the unfinished site directly opposite and next to the ferry. I'm always disappointed with any place with Mercure in the name. With the name Grand Mercure, I expected service that didn't exist. These are non-serviced apartments. We even had to pay for an extra roll of toilet paper. Around the pool and spa, tiles were coming away. The mattress also seemed worn.

We were given a top floor apartment at the end of the complex which juts out over the sea - as did our large balcony - with the most stunning views we've ever had. Add to that the fully glass walled bedroom with spa also overlooking the sea. And the 2 bathrooms (1 each!#. The one bedroom apartment was well sized and well appointed. It rained a lot during our stay so we were stuck indoors a bit but the apartment was very pleasant to spend time in. If only I brought more books and the DVD player wasn't broken! Luckily we had our laptop to watch DVDs on. There are many swimming pools and a spa on the complex. Unfortunatley […] it was too cold to swim but we used the spa which was (very slightly) heated. There are also several small gyms. Although we didn't book a water view apartment we were positioned at one end of the second building and had a clear view of the ferry terminal and could watch the boats coming and going. The lady working at the reception desk was very kind and friendly. We were unlucky with the weather but it was still a very pleasant stay. It was very peaceful with really very few people around (maybe because of the weather). There were surprisingly few shops and restaurants at the ferry terminal, just the supermarket and there was cafe only open weekends. There were a few more shops a 5 minute walk away and only one bottle shop about 15 minutes walk. Would recommend getting the bus to Horseshoe Bay for a change of scenery - there's a few more shops, bars and restaurants there but it was actually really nice to do nothing but enjoy the views and go for walks around Nelly Bay. The Hotel was exactly how it was advertised on the internet. We had a unit overlooking the water and it was just beautiful. Usually you do not get the view as advertised but we did. Everywhere we looked there was water. The staff were friendly and helpful. Will go b ack and stay.
