"Amazing value for price"
I love this place- the atmosphere of an old fashioned private club makes it feeling homier than a regular hotel. The hotel is incredibly decorated, all original furnishings left intact. And access to the giant health club is a huge perk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Love the Athletic Clubs"
This is the second Athletic Club that I have stayed at (the first being Milwaukee's). The staff is amazing, the history of the buildings is awesome, and the location of this one is perfect for enjoying downtown St. Louis. I would highly recomend staying at this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Here to watch the Cardinals"
The hotel lobby is beautiful! The staff was excellent in every aspect. The room had a nice big window and we could look out to see the Mississippi River. The room was not huge, but comfortable. It would have been nice to have a second "luggage stand", but we used a chair for our second suitcase. The carpet looked old and needed cleaned, but other than […] that we thought the interior of the room was very nice. It was actually fun staying in an old hotel. We were nicely surprised at the free shuttle to/from the Cardinal game! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
There's historic, and the there's just plain old. This one falls into the old category. The lobby is amazing, the rooms are the equivalent of a highway side motel. Paint peeling, mold, old sheets, old pillows, old carpet. Also, be warned this is a members only club so folks who belong to the athletic club are not so welcoming of outsiders. We got asked […] several times if we were "supposed" to be there. There's also a dress code which doesn't allow tee shirts anywhere in the hotel. Sorry, but if I'm on vacation, I'd like to leave the business casual attire at home. Not the place for me! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"everyone loves lobby"
The beds are comfortable but the showers are a bit small. Clean but not super fresh in terms of wallpaper/paint, etc. Using the athletic facilities costs extra. For the price, wonderful place!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Very disappointed to say the least small rooms with old everything, nothing like the pictures on the website.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, great service, dated room"
The rate was great for a convention and a very short walk to the convention center. The room was dated but clean and comfortable, other than the mattress was a little firmer than I prefer. HDTV with many cable channels and WiFi throughout the hotel. For $12/stay, I got to enjoy the indoor basketball court, great cardio room with lots of machines, lap […] pool, and golf simulator. The dress code was a little strange but not overly so. Dinner one night in the bar/grill was great and priced about right for a hotel restaurant. Lots of alternatives within walking distance, and a short walk from the Arch. Hotel staff was fantastic and very friendly. I needed a mini fridge for medication and although they were in short supply, they quickly rounded one up and delivered it to my room right away. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect location and super friendly staff"
Close to America's center, the arch, restaurants, and metro link. Service was attentive and super friendly. Healthy food options available in the restaurants. Facility/rooms a little worn around the edges, but clean. I would definitely stay again and would plan to use the extensive athletic facilities next time. Perfect location for dining, jogging, […] strolling after spending day in nearby conference center. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Downtown's Very Best"
Having previously rated this same location, I'm more or less obliging Hotels.com. Nevertheless, an outstanding stay if you need to be in St. Louis, with an excellent location for all stadiums and the convention center.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel close to St Louis Gateway Arch"
The room was ready before checking time...staff was very polite and friendly...I would definitely stay here again...Genuine Expedia guest review
We were a party of 6, and we loved the hotel with two exceptions. First, my mattress seemed to be worn on both sides so that one felt like one had to hang on so as to not fall out. I reported the mattress to the front desk. Two, the steps up into the bathrooms were somewhat troublesome to our older members of our group. Other than that, we really enjoyed […] our stay. The service was terrific, from the front desk to the Jack Buck Grille. Anna in the Grill was a lovely hostess and made our stay even more enjoyable with her bubbly personality. Thanks to everyone there for a great stay while enjoying our son's graduation from Saint Louis University! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed on the 7th floor. There was not a problem with the room itself. However, we could hear the games/voices/foot running taking place in the basketball courts on the same floor. My daughter stayed on the 8th floor and the room was shabby, wallpaper coming off walls. The staff was friendly but not in the least bit knowledgeable of nearby eating […] places. When reserving at the hotel I did not notice an additional per day parking fee which was a surprise. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overall, liked the hotel"
We really enjoyed our stay there, especially the chance to use the pool and exercise room. The hotel would likely have gotten an even better overall rating if it was not for the fee required to use the gym facilities. Their fee for parking was better than many of the downtown hotels we have stayed at.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very clean and helpful staff. Check in was quick and painless. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Close to everything we wanted to do downtown.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Private Club? 4 stars? NOT"
We stayed on the 8th floor. Our room was not very clean, wall paper falling off and paint chipping, Shower tiles stained and not even a electric outlet for the hair dryer in the bathroom. Other family members stayed on the 7th floor during the same time. THeir room looked nicer than ours. "Great service, small outdated rooms"
Located downtown right across from the Dome where the Rams play, this private club offers great service, excellent restaurant facilities (Jack Buck Grill, etc), with small and outdated, but clean. rooms. "Happy Hockey Game"
The wife and I decided to have a romantic get away to St. Louis for a hockey game. Stayed at the MAC. I do triathlons so of course I took advantage of all the workout equipment daily. From the moment we stepped in to check on parking (yes, parking in the garage is put on your room tab but well worth it) until the time we left, we had a blast. The staff […] was so friendly and helpful. I felt the southern hospitality instantly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone especially if you are planning to visit downtown area. Very easy access to all the major Interstates. Only reason I gave it a 3 on room comfort is because the mattress was a little too firm for my liking. I sleep on a Tempurpedic so I'm picky like that. One of the workers told me that they have a new GM and he is working to replace all the mattresses. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
MAC was a nice change of pace hotel. I liked the "club" environment. The staff was very accommodating. The only complaint I had was that they had next to no Internet access. I was intrigued by the architecture and quality of this historical building. All of the employees were professional and polite. I would definately stay there again. I was a little bothered by the fact that my suite didn't have a refrigerator or microwave, but it wasn't a deal breaker. I was happy that it had updated televisions and the linens looked […] fresh and new. "Everyone is so amazing that works there."
This hotel's staff were friendly and always willing to go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and appreciated. It's an old club. People who like this sort of thing will like this sort of thing. Staff very helpful and friendly. Great locaiton near the Gateway Arch. Nice, stately and storied old institution with a hilarious dress code from the 1980's (no jean jackets, tube tops or Spandex!) Wood paneling and paintings in the lobby - even a moose head! Older building, radiator heat was hard to control. It got very warm in the room. Some rooms had a shortage of outlets and wifi connections were not good.Staff was very nice, very good brunch at a reasonable price. Rooms clean. The hotel had amazing service!!! All employees were friendly and helpful. The lobby was beautiful. The rooms were small, but they were clean and had a vintage charm. The location was great also, downtown and only a block from the metro.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"You should try this place out"
Step in this hotel and you are transported back 100 years in time. Upon entering, you can smell a hint of the aroma from the many cigars that must have been enjoyed in the lobby from way back when, and many varieities are for sale at the front desk. There is fantastic artwork and furniture and some fascinating grandfather clocks. And the woodwork is […] a sight to behold. I got a great deal on this place and I would definitely return. On our floor (#9) some of the carpet did show signs of age. The room was small but adequate; you feel like you are living in a college dorm. It was possible to hear some noise from outside and neighbors as well. The staff were exceptionally friendly, and thanks to Hotels.com for refunding the last day's charge when we had to head out early when a freak March snowstorm approached and interrupted our vacation plans. An extraordinary loding facility. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was described as a 4 star accommodation. The lobby area was beautiful and the basketball court and athletic facilities were top notch. However, the rooms were the worst I've seen in years. It was like a step back in time and then shabby. The showers are like old run down high school locker room showers. The bedding appears to be the original […] with no alternate blanket to use besides the 70's bedspread. The cooling/heating system did not work, nor had we ever seen dials such as those. We were told the 7th floor has actually been remodeled, but it stays booked. Until all floors undergo a complete remodel, I would recommend only as an athletic club! "Perfect for the athletic couple"
Came over President's day weekend. The MAC has a beautiful lobby - it looks great for events such as wedding receptions and the like. This is one of the only hotels around that actually has very good athletic facilities (as the name would suggest), so I would recommend it for those looking to get a working in during their stay. The downsides are that […] the guest rooms are rather outdated. There is no fridge, few outlets, old carpet/paint/plumbing. There are also some strange rules, such as no food can be brought in from outside (they have a restaurant there), a dress code, and parking is not free (about $12 per car). "Private Clubs: Still the Best Business Lodgings"
Hey! There's only one 4 in my review: comfort of room. They ran out of hot water within my room, but because I had an athletic pass, I was able to rally and shoot up to the awesome men's locker room. This club is reciprocal to my own, and it's great to still be able to have the comforts of home, in a sense, when you travel for business. This Club still […] thrives, and its Clubhouse is beautiful. This make shift, run down non insultated walled building in the midst of the ghetto so called hotel was very disappointing. My bf and I NEEDED a weekend away. The couple next door […] started arguing at 9:45 p.m. on friday night and it finally ended at 5 a.m. Saturday morning...only to be disturbed at 6 a.m. by eager guests...this was the worst stay ever. I absolutely would not recommend this place to my enemy morenless a friend. Hotels.com is one of my favorite travel companion. I brag about it to everyone.. The Lady at the Front Desk was VERY nice and helpful. The only reason I rated the Room Comfort so low was because the heat and air are all hooked together throughout the building.
