"Hotel with castle view and nice pool"
We stayed here while passing through the area so we arrived late and left early. The hotel and pool seemed nice during our brief visit. Our room had a small balcony with table and chairs and a great view of the castle. The hairdryer in the room did not work well and there was no free wifi but otherwise the hotel was okay.

"1 star"
I arrived around 4pm checked in and went to my room and there was no bedding and wet towels on the floor. Went back to reception and asked to wait while the room was cleaned. After 30 minutes waiting I went out instead. Room was tucked in the very back of the hotel next to staff only areas where various staff could be seen scowling at you. Breakfast was just passable.

"Nice simple hotel"
Beautiful views of Silves. Friendly multi lingual staff. Simple decor that is jaded in places and in need of some modernisation and "uplift". Pool was clean and furniture well maintained. Overall the hotel is clean and functional. Excellent position for lazy strolls around Silves

"Excellent value for money"
This is a good 3 * hotel. Although some aspects are a little tired looking and the bathroom was in need of renovation we found the service, cleanliness etc made for excellent value as breakfast was also included. The swimming pool was also appreciated although we would have liked a little more shade. We really liked Silves.

We have now stayed at this hotel many times. It may be a bit dated but it is very good value for money. We love the views. Staff friendly and helpful. Will be going back again in a few months.

"Mediocre"
On the plus side, the hotel is clean has stunning views of the castle. On the down side it is looking a bit tired, especially the bedroom. The staff are impersonal and find it difficult to smile. The continental breakfast was basic, lacking imagination, and the coffee, from a machine, was atrocious. I am unlikely to stay here again.

Have stayed in this hotel many times. We love the atmosphere there. The bathrooms are a little tired looking, but there is always hot water. The best feature is the views across to the historic town of Silves.

"A bargain at the price 25 euros for two per night"
02/06/16 Andrea G Yorkshire Dales National Park, United Kingdom
The hotel was 3 star. First impressions when inside were it looked a little tired however the very helpful person on Reception more than made up for it. There was one Person on Reception at all times and generally they could speak enough English. The room (305) had a view across the town and could see the castle and church. It had twin beds, and one chair inside but there were two chairs, a table and two sun beds on the balcony. We went at the end of January so the balcony got hardly any sun. Guests did sit in the lounge area in reception or out side at the front in the sun. There was no kettle in the room and you were advised not to drink the tap water so we took a travel kettle and we got bottled water from Lidl only a short walk into town. The bathroom was compact but had everything you need. A hair drier attached to the wall and a shaver socket. The shower was over the bath and a little high so if you don't want to get your hair wet, take a shower cap. The water temp and pressure were great, plenty of hot water. There was an air con unit in the room we used it as a room heater when in but, it was a little noisy and you could hear when the people next door had there's on. There was a small TV on the wall with 4 UK channels. Sheets were changed regular and towels daily. Breakfast was a continental style, fruit salad, bread; sliced and rolls, jam and marmalade, sliced meats and cheese, yogurt and a selection of cereals. Coffee ( strong), chocolate and hot water ( tea bags available) were from a machine. Cold apple & orange juice and water were also available from a machine. No other meals were available in the hotel but it was only a short 5-7 min walk into town where there were plenty of places serving meals. You could get a good meal including olives and bread and drinks for 10 euros per person. It did have an outside pool but this was closed as it was too cold. It also has Wifi but only in the Reception area, it doesn't work in the rooms.

"A Hotel with Potential"
02/02/16 telstarPlymouth Plymouth
This Hotel is in a wonderful location within easy walking distance of the appealing sights of the small town of Silves. Our stay with friends the last week in January had the appeal of a reasonable price with Easyjet Holidays and the promise of mild dry and sunny weather. Nuno booked us in before the 2.00 time and he remained a cheerful, helpful contact. Like others, we found the beds hard, noisy and uncomfortable. Our room had the bonus of views from our terrace to the Castle, the nesting storks, and the distant hills. Everything worked and the room was clean and made up daily. Our bathroom, like some other decor features, would benefit from a refresh but we had a bath and an efficient shower. Breakfast was basic but sufficient to keep us going until lunch in one of the many nearby eating places.

"A gem at the price"

We turned up on the off chance & were lucky enough to secure one of the last 2 rooms. The room was somewhat dated but the sparkling new bathroom made up for it.We had a great view of the hilltop castle & church in Silves which was lit up at night. The hotel is on the opposite side of the river to the town but it was a pleasant walk across the bridge to go out to eat in the evening. For a 3* hotel we found everything perfectly satisfactory, staff were helpful & friendly, the lift & AC worked & the breakfast was perfectly acceptable at the price of 37 euros per night.

"Must be the best view in town."

We had nice clean rooms with a very good bathroom and view on the castle. As with all the hotels we visited in Portugal the mattresses were a bid hard.Town is only 500 meters away. During our stay the restaurant in the hotel was only open for breakfast. Normal checkout was 12:00 but we were allowed a 14:00 checkout, which was very nice because of our late flight out of Faro.

"Nothing works!"

First, let me say that the view of the castle was spectacular. However, the elevator was broken, as was the wifi and the phone system. The surly manager has a personality more suited to an undertaker or a gravedigger. He never smiled he barely spoke, and I doubt that he cared whether we were there or not. The breakfast was edible. The hotel only has twin beds.

we had a very nice week in the Colina dos Mouros Hotel, it was just over the river from the main town but an easy walk, our room overlooked the castle that gave us a great view when it was lit up at night. The room was clean and comfortable with breakfast as expected. we could get a bus to other places, we also found people to be helpful and friendly.

"Budget hotel, but good value for money"
10/21/15 jkc2015 Portugal
We stayed here for 2 nights in mid October. We had an amazingly good value deal which included breakfast. I am not sure that I would like to stay here in the height of the season (especially reading some of the reviews about sunbed availability and thin walls), but this time of the year it was fine. The pool looked very nice, and people were still using it when we stayed. Gorgeous views from the terrace of the castle (and storks!) We had room 413, and this also had a great castle view. The rooms on the ground floor appeared to have their own private terraces. We didn't stay in the room much, so that wouldn't have interested us. The room was basic, but very clean though we didn't like the twin beds (apparently there are no double beds in the hotel at all!) The beds were comfortable, though some people may find them a little hard. The bathroom was tiny and a bit smelly (drains), but towels were changed each day. The air con worked well, unlike the WIFI- but this was fine in the public areas. We were quite near the lift, and if I stayed again I would request a room further down the corridor- but it wasn't busy and we weren't bothered by noise. Breakfast was quite good- fresh rolls, the usual cheese and cold meats, cereals etc. Some of the fruit was tinned, but the watermelon was gorgeous. The staff were very friendly. You could hire a bike from the hotel if you wished, and I think that we would have done that if we had stayed longer. It's 5- 10 minutes leisurely stroll over the bridge to the main town and the restaurants and bars. We ate at a restaurant on the same side of the bridge about 200 metres from the hotel on the first night, so if you want something very nearby, it is available. All in all very good value for money for a few days break and I would stay again.

We stayed here for the first 2 nights of our walking tour of the Algarve. a clean relaxing hotel with a patio with great views of castle. Friendly and helpful staff. It is a 5 to 10 minute walk into the centre of the village to very good restaurants. The rooms are quite and the beds comfortable
